Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

@justgettingthroughtheday I would have done the same, especially if I had no other way of contacting anyone relevant about it. My initial reaction when I find a loose dog (which has happened a few times on walks) is to post it on the local Facebook group. Most people do the same and you very quickly get someone commenting who it belongs to or phoning them for you. To just tie it up, go away and maybe not even contact anyone (other than DIL) for quite a while after just seems odd. Even if you weren’t at all worried about where the missing person was, I’d be concerned at the fact I’d left a dog tied up on its own, who would now be panicking 🤷🏼‍♀️

Absolutely this . I wouldn't leave a distressed dog tied up in such a remote area . I so hope they find this lady , the family are desperate for answers

TidyDancer · 05/02/2023 17:49

@MissingMoominMamma it was Peter Faulding who was the expert that said it as part of a longer comment. I linked an article up thread with his comments. I think he was trying to put earlier speculation in context tbh.

The doorbell image may not necessarily be from the day of her disappearance, . The description of her clothing must have been given by family or someone who actually saw her that day.

I think some images of Nicola in exactly the same clothing she was wearing when she went missing would be really helpful.

@Togoodtobeforgotten reviews for what?

I actually think threads like this and on other social media platforms are really important, it keeps public interest on it, and when public interest is on it, then the police are held more accountable. It gives huge pressure on them to solve this, which sometimes is a positive .

the family are saying the hypothesis the police have shes in the water is based on absolutely no evidence. It is based on the opposite, a lack of evidence, lack of evidence anything criminal happened. So they have assumed this.

I still think it’s the most likely but I am concerned the police have thought this from the start. And if the family are right, there is nothing to lead them to think this way, then that’s a concern.

so we should be shining a light on it and fighting to keep this top of mind and continue to do so until they find her or know for sure.

if this expert is going to go in now and search the water, that’s a positive. He can apparently cover 10 miles a day . The divers can cover 100 metres.

so if she’s in there, he will find her, and if he doesn’t find her, then it is likely safe to assume she isn’t in there.

Totally agree.

Also to the poster that asked the cctv released is from the day she went missing.

That doesn't fit at all with the description from the police though:
"In a press conference, Lancashire Police described what Nicola was wearing at the time of her disappearance and issued an urgent appeal.
She was said to be wearing a gilet as well as a black waist length coat and tight fitting black jeans.
Police said Nicola was also wearing long green walking socks which were tucked into her jeans.
Her hair was tied into a ponytail and she was wearing a necklace and pale blue Fitbit."

This is her leaving her house. She may have put the gilet on later. Her partner might know she keeps the gilet in the car for dog walks as by the river it is cold. I agree we don’t know definitively that she was wearing the gilet, but if it was usual for her to do so, then it was likely she wore it. I agree the coat is knee- not waist-length.

I’ve just looked closely again at the wellies. They are ankle wellies! The green above is the green socks as said in press conference. That looks like tight black jeans too.

The doorbell image may not necessarily be from the day of her disappearance, . The description of her clothing must have been given by family or someone who actually saw her that day.

"Nicola Bulley: Friend shares images of missing mum on day she vanished" is the title of the news update posted - not sure how clearer that could be.

WingingItSince1973 · 05/02/2023 17:52

@TidyDancer yes it was. I had never heard of it before. So so sad. X

In the BBC article showing the doorbell images it says this :

The first images of Nicola Bulley on the day she went missing while walking her dog have been shared by one of her friends.

The 45-year-old was last seen walking next to the River Wyre in St Michael's on Wyre in Lancashire.

The CCTV pictures show her loading her car outside her home on 27 January before driving her two children to school and going for a riverside walk.

So these are the morning she went missing.

I mentioned this before on another thread. None of the news channels or anyone really is speaking out about the young man missing in Lancaster, 20 mins away. I’m not saying they are related but he hasn’t been seen since 10th December last by the river lune. I’m a local so both cases are on all the local fb groups etc… his disappearance is a mystery too and his family are also stuck in the same nightmare as NB family.

I've just looked that up in the Lancaster Gaurdian and an article was put up 2 days ago there was also an article in the Blackpool Gazette 2 days ago which again was about a canal walk not far from St Michael's again don't want to speculate as I think the police are probably right as the timescale is just way to small.

MargaritaRita · 05/02/2023 17:55

@NewBootsAndRanty OK, I was just wondering if there might be a possibility that the images could have been from another day or time. I note that the police did not release those images.

hattie43 · 05/02/2023 18:00

Bluebellwood129 · 05/02/2023 17:01

The police described an ankle length gilet - I remember thinking at the time that that this would be very distinctive.

A black gillet over the top of another coat and green ankle wellies .

MumofSpud · 05/02/2023 18:04

Just so sad - I am a similar age and walk in similar places with a similar dog
If she slipped on the edge of the river because of something to do with the dog - this is something that has happened to me - I have never gone in though
Hopefully her loved ones will get answers to this nightmare soon

NothingButAWalkover · 05/02/2023 18:05

So the only cctv released is from Nicola's front door, which is the only cctv her family/friends will have access too. This has been released by a friend, why not the police? Why haven't the police not released the cctv on the way to river? What the fuck are they doing?

I think Nicola actually looks very different on those pictures compared to the ones we've seen in the public domain so far, probably just because her hair is tied back. Not saying it's not her or anything like that but surely they should have released more to show us what she actually looked like on the day?

OntarioBagnet · 05/02/2023 18:06

I think the wellies are ankle length, she just has similar coloured socks which are outside her leggings and higher than the boots, they look like welliebob type things.

Bluekerfuffle · 05/02/2023 18:08

WhoNeedsSleepNotISaidMyBody · 05/02/2023 17:09

@Commonsensitivity

someone should have told my spaniel that, she didn't like to get her paws wet, let alone go into water, much less a river!

There is a picture of this dog coming out of the water on previous walks, so I presume it does like the water, but there’s always the possibility that she fell in while the dog was preoccupied with something else and it didn’t actually see her go in.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/02/2023 18:09

hattie43 · 05/02/2023 18:00

A black gillet over the top of another coat and green ankle wellies .

They said over a “waist length coat”, (which is a jacket, surely) , I think it is unlikely that she wore an ankle length puffa type gilet over the puffa coat pictured. That would surely be too bulky to move in easily ?

electricmoccasins · 05/02/2023 18:12

@SirVixofVixHall Actually, I’m going to agree with this. You wouldn’t wear a gilet over a coat like that. Curiouser and curiouser…

Catstaps · 05/02/2023 18:14

A private underwater search company are starting tomorrow morning with hi tech equipment so hopefully they will get results, the owner sounded confident

Agreed , it sounded a very strange outfit . Without CCTV of her in this outfit we really don't know .

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea
Speculation about individuals and any involvement they may have had isn't ok. Nor have I ever said that it is.
But speculation about the enquiry and events that have taken place I think are valid and could be beneficial. I don't trust that the police have or are following all lines of enquiry right now.
The family have asked for people to question what went on.

I've seen this very recently on twitter. Hopefully this will either confirm or rule out the river theory.

I remember the description the coat the police gave too. They made it sound like a some huge dressing gown.

Isn't it a bit convenient or suspicious that the one and only cctv camera that was out of order was the one that would give the clues?

Are you thinking that some kind of master criminal is involved and planned an abduction of a specific person or was opportunisticaly hanging around just in case?

You'd have thought that he might have thrown the phone in the water as a basic measure
