Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

You don't think aliens are scientifically possible?

I think the possibility that this case will be solved as alien abduction is close to nil.

User45378754 · 05/02/2023 16:32

The family have taken up the offer by the expert - announced just now on his Twitter

There were SIX people plus allegedly involved in reporting the incident, it’s not surprising early facts are now confused. Hopefully the police will look back in light of how case has evolved & will be well on the ball, I am sure.

The family are urging all of us to question, even reject, the police’s working hypothesis that she’s ‘in the river’. The problem is this will encourage conjecture. I infer the family do NOT want us to be intrusive, inappropriate or insensitive by that. Mumsnet is a huge force for good, with some brilliant people in the community. We shouldn’t be pointing the finger at anyone.

So many of us can relate, it’s a bewildering tragedy & most of us, nearly all of us will feel only heartfelt compassion for them. Some of those in locality I know of, are also a little fearful whilst this is unresolved.

Peverellshire · 05/02/2023 16:33

@User45378754 that is brilliant news!

MNHQ not letting me post his Twitter announcement…..?

Catsandzcocktails · 05/02/2023 16:34

Ultimately aliens are scientifically possible.
If foul play there would surely be evidence. If it was someone she knew she wouldn't leave the dog and the phone. If it was a stranger there would have been signs of a struggle.
Her falling also seems pretty unlikely and if she did, she is/was a strong swimmer.

I feel a bit ridiculous suggesting aliens, as I hopefully made clear. But what I would usually consider to be the most unlikely seems most likely.

Viviennemary · 05/02/2023 16:36

I read about that expert. Good the offer is being taken up. If thats true.

@Catsandzcocktails I think there may be other anomalies & a line of enquiry right here on planet earth. Let’s hope, anyway.

User45378754 · 05/02/2023 16:39

I think it’s unusual that the police haven’t released any CCTV of NB on the day she went missing - if there were CCTV points at every entrance / exit to the riverside (except allotment lane / caravan park).

This is fairly standard in my recollection of other missing persons - sharing images to prompt others memories.

Well I hope there aren't aliens abducting us. And hopefully she either turns up with a wild explanation or closure for the family.
Just from what I've read, other theories just don't seem particularly plausible

They just have. BBC headline just now.

Apparently the house is at the other side of the river given such a small timescale it would be highly unlikely as I said the police aren't daft.

Peverellshire · 05/02/2023 16:47

@Januarydayss but I read phone found on ground first, NB: article up thread.

@Catsandzcocktails for me, things are plausible if there’s good evidence for them & objective ‘proof’. Then there needs to be assessment & open minded evaluation by the professionals, the police. Hopefully, that’s what’s happening now.

I really agree with this.

Something has happened here. We are 9 days on from the day Nicola disappeared. With what appears no new leads and no progress. It wouldn't be the first time the police have blindly followed one hypothesis of what happened. Questioning every detail is important and at the moment I'm not convinced the police have or are.
@Anon300 when I said the womans actions were strange I mean that I don't think we have been given the full or accurate account of what happened. The timeline and events don't match up. Now that could be for a whole host of reasons. I'm not accusing this lady of anything or suggesting that she is in anyway involved. What I am saying is that the account doesn't make sense.

Please just stop with the alien abduction theory !!

Januarydayss · 05/02/2023 16:50

@Peverellshire I read it too, this confuses me. I read it was on the ground and then they say it was on the bench..

So dos this mean that Nicola got changed before walking Willow? These images don't match with the description of her clothing provided by the police. Are there any CCTV images of her after parking at the school?

Is that CCTV or their own home security cameras, other then giving a better idea of what she was wearing that's not going to help with finding her in any way

Swashbuckled · 05/02/2023 16:55

@TimeForMeToF1y

I had the same thought; looks like it could be footage from the home cameras.

That’s what I thought. I’ve only read one account earlier today in the newspaper and the clothing description doesn’t match that image. Also, I’m a bit confused as to why it’s a friend releasing cctv images and not the police. And, again, why would it be the family accepting the offer of a specialist diver and not the police?

Commonsensitivity · 05/02/2023 16:57

Apparently her spaniel was found bone dry. Spaniels are water dogs. If she had gone in the river I'm pretty sure the dog would have tried to go in after her. None of this is making any sense.

Peverellshire · 05/02/2023 16:58

@justgettingthroughtheday Good post, don’t mention any witness individually in any way, as this counts as conjecture & is sensitive. A reason may be that the police are now absorbing the early narrative in that article, plus & are reevaluating. X6 people, male & female apparently were flagged up in ‘Nicola chain’ & one, as can be seen in print, suggests a poss medical emergency & the dog being lured to edge by fishing bait.

Clarity is needed, because, as you rightly say, the stakes are very high.

Bluebellwood129 · 05/02/2023 16:59

@Judashascomeintosomemoney This just adds to the confusion. I have so many unanswered questions. I can't imagine what her family and friends are feeling.
