Just heard on BBC news a reporter said one reason is that she has shown zero remorse and spoke exactly like other extremists - still. Whilst it us unfortunate fir her...
I think it's the right decision given the circumstances....what are your thoughts?

Agree. Right decision

Preeeettyprettygood · 22/02/2023 10:24

Absolutely agree. It's the right decision

Sirzy · 22/02/2023 10:25

I think it’s a very complex situation but my gut instinct is that it’s the right call

3peassuit · 22/02/2023 10:25

I feel torn about this, on one hand she was 15 on the other there seems very little remorse and a lot of victim hood from her.

RudsyFarmer · 22/02/2023 10:25

Sounds like the right decision to me.

SpinningFloppa · 22/02/2023 10:25

Good!

Victim hood has HUGE collateral in todays society. It’s really all she’s got on her side.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/02/2023 10:26

She’s been treated a particular way because of her race and sex- however she’s a rude, detached weird person, who I don’t really want in the U.K. so can’t get worked up about her treatment.

FoxFeatures · 22/02/2023 10:29

She was 15 and groomed. She was a child.

Whilst I deplore her actions as strongly as everyone else, I can't separate her legal status as a child, from her actions.

Yes there needs to be a legal case for her to answer, but it needs to be done here. Removing someone's citizenship is the thin end of the wedge.

bizzywiththefizzy · 22/02/2023 10:29

It will be interesting to see where she goes with this now as the only country she is entitled to reside is Bangladesh , which apparently has the death penalty for her crimes .No I don't think she has any regrets .

Growlybear83 · 22/02/2023 10:30

I completely agree with the decision although I'm a bit surprised. I've heard so much sympathy towards her recently from people making allowances because of her age, and I thought that opinions had softened towards her. I think it's clear that there is a great deal of information that hasn't been made public. I found her quite chilling in the recent documentary and I'm very relieved that the appeal has been rejected.

Nolosomi · 22/02/2023 10:30

I have mixed feelings but seeing her interviewed I thought it extremely strange she showed no emotion for her three dead children and two friends. She has an odd countenance - she’s either just really messed up by everything she’s been through and done or she’s a sociopath.
I can’t believe anyone who wanted so badly to make amends and come back could show so little regret or empathy.

OneFrenchEgg · 22/02/2023 10:30

I think it's disgusting that we are responsible for raising this woman, whatever her actions, and now wash out hands of her and make her someone else's problem.

This. She was a groomed child who has been through a horrendous ordeal but equally she has deep seated personality issues and no insight or remorse. She would need significant psychological support to reprogram her and there is no guarantee it would work which would make her a risk to others. It is complex.

mumoffourminimes · 22/02/2023 10:31

She's in a camp surrounded by violent extremists, it's not safe for her to display remorse.

Wrong decision imo. She was groomed and sexually exploited. She was a child.

Jaxinthebox · 22/02/2023 10:33

There is something about her that gives me a weird feeling. No remorse for her actions, no emotion over her deceased children.

chosenone · 22/02/2023 10:34

Good. She is not remorseful and needs to understand that her choices led to this decision.

HoleyShit · 22/02/2023 10:35

Good. Now let's hope she will piss off.

hattie43 · 22/02/2023 10:35

Thank God . Keep her out .

I do think this is part of the complexity, but I can’t help but wonder if the empathy towards her would be less if it was a male in the same situation.

Completely agree.

Jowak1 · 22/02/2023 10:35

At 15 you know right from wrong and that a terrorist organisation is bad. She also said the Manchester bombing was justified 😡it's the right decision

They'll never be a legal case where can the evidence be found

SmurfingGoodTime · 22/02/2023 10:37

She was a child who was groomed. She's traumatised. She is an unreliable narrator - but god knows how any of us would behave in similar circumstances.

She seems to be a scapegoat more than anything.

SnowAndFrostOutside · 22/02/2023 10:38

I think it's the wrong decision because she was a child when she left. I do feel the decision was made based on her race. She is not a Bangledashi citizen. She's got as much right as a child of a British citizen who is born overseas. She can apply for citizenship based on her parents, but would they even grant it? We have made her stateless and now a problem of the host country she's detained in.
