I have contacted mumsnet to get this thread deleted

Good luck with that, smileladiesplease
Obviously moderation's their decision not ours, but with the tumbleweed on so many threads and the "footfall" on these, I'll be amazed if anything much is done

melonraspberry · 08/02/2023 19:52

The photo was accompanied with misty shots .

on the gun - I was thinking used as a threat to hold her in the bushes quietly.

"In the village where Nicola Bulley vanished her face is everywhere, her name on everyone's lips

It is almost two weeks since the mum-of-two disappeared while out walking her dog. Tom George visited the village and found anger, confusion and despair - but also hope."

But if you knew both the person on the phone AND the dog, and the phone was on the ground in wet weather - still on a teams meeting - are you sure you would just tie up the dog and go? It’s an interesting decision.

No I can't be sure, but equally I cant be sure I'd called the police. That's the point, you just don't know until your in that situation

A phone on the ground on a teams meeting just means someone has dropped it, and that happens all the time. She might have dropped it ages ago and be coming back for if with the dog ahead.

Its easy to dismiss concerns in the situation.

dawngreen · 08/02/2023 19:53

And lets be honest who is going to risk falling in the river in winter to scoop poop????

SueG60 · 08/02/2023 19:53

puppacup · 08/02/2023 19:43

I'm not sure why some are absolutely convinced she didn't fall in the water.

Neither the abduction theory or the falling in the river theory stack up to me. But it’s got to be one or the other.

It just seems very unlikely you’d fall in being fit and healthy, and furthermore then be unable to get out. And on top of that, if that did happen, for the body to then not be in the area. That doesn’t make sense.

Likewise it doesn’t seem very plausible someone could just approach someone who’s on the phone in broad daylight and take them away without a trace.

One of them has happened though.

Or third option she has just walked away.

@SueG60

Whatever the case given the time that has passed it seems unlikely we will ever know now.
I have a feeling the police will be looking to wrap this up soon.
Poor nicola.

Plitvice · 08/02/2023 19:55

Or it is possible that she dropped her phone and only realized a few minutes later. She then panicked thinking that she had dropped it in the water and went too close to the edge while trying to spot it in blind panic.

oakleaffy · 08/02/2023 19:57

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 08/02/2023 19:42

And I feel sorry for people with such a poor understanding of risk that they allow an incredibly rare event to dictate their choices.

Even if there is a crime here, stranger abduction of an adult is unbelievably rare in any situation, but especially a rural public place in broad daylight. Women are far, far more likely to be attacked by household members than strangers. If you’re that worried about being attacked, logically you would spend all your time outside- it’s statistically much safer than indoors for a woman.

As a child, I wandered many miles over many years alone both here and overseas, Towns and rural areas-
Only had abuse from people known to me or family in childhood home.

The water was too shallow

You’d hear and see a splash if a phone fell in water- There wouldn’t be any doubt if a phone 📱 fell in a river.

Mamma2017 · 08/02/2023 17:19

Do we know for sure the witness sightings are accurate? Was it 100% her that was seen in the top field?

All these hero’s. I commend you , the ones show boating if they found a loose dog they’d be on to the police. How much better they are than the woman who found the dog and tied it up.

slow hand clap. We are all impressed by you. Take it to the bank, you’re better than she is,

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

or she wanted to go missing. I still think it's likely it was a tragic accident. The police will have other info as to why they think she went in the water but of course they could be wrong.

Most people who drown never intend to enter the water - they do so accidentally. Most people who drown in the U.K. can swim. Rivers can be highly variable. Even an apparently slow river can have fast-flowing channels.

I don’t know whether she entered the river, but people who think they know for sure what can or cannot have happened are deluding themselves.

Just saw Jeremy Kyle on Talk TV say that Peter Faulding refused to go on tonight, even though he's been on the past 2 nights.
I wonder what made him stop his search abruptly?
Kyle reckons it's a flounce

When ever I’ve found a phone I’ve always picked it up and handed it in to the closest shop and then popped a post on Facebook. Not sure that would have helped here mind.

I think if I found a phone with a harness and a dog not in said harness, I’d presume the dog had ran off and the owner went chasing after the dog dropping said phone with the harness. Then that the dog has come back to the bench/area while the owners still looking. If I knew the name of the owner I might shout a couple of times depends if I was rushing or something. I wouldn’t think automatically be oooo suspicious, I’d also possibly drop it in conversation with my mother if we ended up on the phone. In a yeah when I was walking to the doctors someone’s dog had clearly ran off and the silly sausage was back waiting at the bench where it must of got off while the poor owner must still be looking, mum possibly goes oh what dog this time, oh you know that spaniel, oh Nikki’s dog? I’ll pop a message and get the story hahaha bloody dog. Then it transpires actually shit she’s missing.

puppacup · 08/02/2023 20:01

And if I came across a dog & a phone I wouldn't necessarily think someone had been kidnapped & call 999.

pigsinoodies · 08/02/2023 19:49

The local specialist dive team - the ones with more, and more relevant, experience - are still searching though.

No they aren’t. On,y the police divers are.and they are not rhe ones with the more relevant experience.

Maybe they were going to ask him about some of the bollocks he's spouted over the last week?

melonraspberry · 08/02/2023 20:04

Or maybe he’s found the last few days difficult and is travelling home to his family

Or it is possible that she dropped her phone and only realized a few minutes later. She then panicked thinking that she had dropped it in the water and went too close to the edge while trying to spot it in blind panic.

That would actually make sense - she got into difficulty looking for her phone that she had accidentally dropped? She knew it was connected to her meeting so more panic, trying to find it.

My mum once stepped into traffic when she thought she'd lost her purse - she panicked totally after we left a shop and crossed the road, she literally turned on her heel back into oncoming traffic - I instinctively grabbed her - we laugh about it now but I was terrified at the time that she nearly got hit by a car, because of a missing purse!

And she had the purse all along. 🙄

He's got a big farm apparently. Seems like an interesting guy.

I wonder if he's just exhausted with the scrutiny.
