I don't think she's in river
Maybe her Fitbit is which is why they think she's in there
Think it's all a decoy

kirinm · 08/02/2023 10:32

Re Strava - yes you can follow anyone's routes although I think there is a feature that blocks out your start and finish points.

Sarah Everard' as Strava account was basically used to trace her usual routes - I can't recall whether her route that day was in there. I assume not as pretty sure the police relied on dashcams and CCTV.

SpecialOPs · 08/02/2023 10:33

Thanks @ofwarren.

I find it absolutely boggling, and totally negligent, that the caravan park has not been searched with a fine tooth comb including the lake there that I read being mentioned (if it's true it hasn't).

This should have been done on Day 2/3 at least. Such on obvious place to look as well as no CCTV.

If she was there for any reason, any evidence of that could have been long removed.

WastenotWantall · 08/02/2023 10:36

People trampling all through the site for their tiktok videos too, any shred of evidence is long gone, why didn’t they corner it off?

I think it was obvious she’s not in the river, if you slipped in accidentally, you would still be holding your phone as you wouldn’t for a second think you were going to fall in the river.

she’s been kidnapped is the obvious answer and the obvious answer is normally the correct one.

I also don’t know why they haven’t searched the lake by the top field and all the caravans.

OntarioBagnet · 08/02/2023 10:39

If she has been kidnapped those police are going to be in the shit

We don't know the site hasn't been thoroughly searched.

Do we know this for sure? To not search the lake would seem crazy to me.

Mamamia7962 · 08/02/2023 10:39

I read it that the lady who found the phone at approximately 9.35am found it on the ground by a tree which was close to the bench. She picked it up and saw that it was Nicola on the screen and placed it on the bench. She then saw the dog and tied it to the bench because she was late for a meeting and assumed that Nicola was nearby. When she got home she phoned her daughter who confirmed it was Nicola, maybe the lady had taken a photo of the dog and screensaver. Her daughter then phoned the school who then phoned Nicola's partner at 10.15am. There have been many conflicting reports surrounding the phone, and where it was found so I might be completely wrong on the above.

The caravan park has been searched it's been stated a few times. The police have said there's absolutely no evidence to say a crime has been committed, I don't think they would say this with such certainty if it wasn't true. I believe they probably have evidence to say that she is in the river or walked away of her own accord.

What I can't understand though is why they are searching all the way to Morecambe and I presume they will also go to Fleetwood/Knitted when the expert said she would not move that far if she was in the water. It would make sense to me why they are searching these places because the river does go out to sea I just don't understand why the expert thinks she would not move if she was in the river.

dawngreen · 08/02/2023 10:41

I think she left her phone on the bench, and was maybe surprised by some one approaching or her dog near the river.

User963 · 08/02/2023 10:41

I’ve read that they only searched the empty caravans (I think that was in a police statement)
I also read the lake hadn’t been searched but that may not be true.

itsnote · 08/02/2023 10:44

They haven't searched Rowanwater.
They said they had searched the empty caravans.
They didn't say whether these were empty caravans at Rowanwater or at Wyresdale Farm Park.

They definitely said only empty caravans

Do they need evidence to thoroughly search I wonder?
A crime might have been committed right under their noses.

PF is not very thick-skinned for the line of work he is in judging by his interview from this morning?

They haven't searched Rowan Water?? That's literally closer to where she was last seen than the bench is!! I'm still struggling to think this can be true, but if it is, it is negligence at best

dawngreen · 08/02/2023 10:47

I do think the lake needs to be searched, so it can be crossed off the list. They had a business address at the caravan park. But still wonder what startled her when sat at the bench. I assumed she sat down.

pigsinoodies · 08/02/2023 10:47

Just because they've only said that they've searched all the empty caravans doesn't mean they've ignored any others. At the very least they'll have knocked on doors and spoken to people.

So I wonder if they have only searched the empty ones thinking that perhaps she has harmed herself? Otherwise it does not make sense. They have also now appealed for anyone who may have a sighting if Nicola to contact 999.

He's been working with police for years. It feels to me like this is the first time he has run up against a police force who won't cooperate with him and he's struggling to contain his frustration.

Perhaps. I'm glad that he is acting as a spokesperson for, well, both parties involved because the Police don't seem very communicative or determined. It could get messy when the family make a complaint against the police further down the line (which they absolutely should).

SpecialOPs · 08/02/2023 10:51

Absolutely chilling to think that Nicola was potentially held nearby going through a horrific ordeal while the police were focussing on the river.

It's clear she's not in the water, the chance of her disappearing by choice is zero so what is the only feasible conclusion that is left?
