Are there any issues other than his limited company being late filing its accounts? That doesn't even hint at 'significant financial issues'.

His accounts aren’t just late, the company is about to be struck off. However, that’s hardly a rare occurrence, he’s quite possibly registered it, but never traded under it, so there are no accounts and it will lapse like thousands of others.

Correct. I live on the opposite side of Morecambe Bay and, tragically, people often wash up on our beaches who fell in the water in Lancashire. Sometimes months or years later. One of the victims of the Hest Bank cockle picker disaster washed up many years after the 2004 incident and the same happened with the 2006 Centrica helicopter crash. The Morecambe Bay tides are incredibly strong and we are used to the tragedy of missing people eventually being pushed up onto our shores.

Faulding thinks it's extremely unlikely for Nicola's body {If it is in the water} to have reached the open sea.

But yes, Morecambe Bay is extremely treacherous and ''Water comes in faster than a horse can gallop'' {That was the saying years ago, and probably still the case.
Bristol Channel is another very dangerous spot.

That's a good point to make about the car keys actually. Some one commented on the twitter that some keys were connected to the dogs collar which I found really odd if that was true.

From the previous thread.

I had wondered if her house keys had a key finder/tarcker attached to it?

SpecialOPs · 08/02/2023 11:10

@Activelyannoyed - thinking logically, what type of person wouldn't at least tie their well loved dog to the bench if they were dumping it in a semi isolated spot and leaving of their own volition? That would be illogical enough in itself as you'd 'disappear' when you weren't with the dog.

Also you'd plant the dog and phone near deeper water and leave evidence of 'falling in' surely? Peter Faulding was saying this morning that the spot where Nicola would have 'fallen' is a metre deep. The deeper water is further out.

That's even if she was able to ignore her DCs distress, seeing her parents break down on TV, the massive media coverage for nearly 2 weeks!

Totally illogical and insulting to her to think she's deliberately hiding.

TallulahBetty · 08/02/2023 11:12

Sorry if I've missed this (hundreds of pages across 4 threads) but what financial issues? What Go Fund Me?

melonraspberry · 08/02/2023 11:07

Also I’d hazard a guess that he has more experience of this type of case than the police do .

10 drownings a year and no abductions or missing persons. No experience of actually running a criminal investigation.

Yes of course. If you wish to know. Google. I don’t help rude people. You don’t get to be horrible and make accusations then ask the same person to help you. You can jog on with that idea.

Having taken the call from her MIL the DIL calls the school. That is stranger still. Nothing adds up.

What is strange about that? They probably didn’t immediately assume something awful had happened but thought it would be a good idea to check on her. The school would have her contact details and be able to try and make contact with her, before trying her partner if she couldn’t be reached.

It’s odd because she waited so long to do it. 45 minutes later.
If she was concerned about Nicola why didn’t she call someone immediately or very soon after? And if she wasn’t concerned why call anyone at all?

She was sufficiently concerned to alert her DIL and for DIL to hear that concern and call the school. That is quite a leap if you think
Nicola was okay and it was nothing to worry about and leave the scene. Time was lost. Why the delay?

melonraspberry · 08/02/2023 11:14

@pigsinoodies but more experience of drownings and how they present

melonraspberry · 08/02/2023 11:15

The woman who found the dog may have not wanted to get involved, and then felt guilty. People are odd - look at twitter atm!

It’s the bit I quoted that I asked what was so strange about.

Again you do not know what is going on in someone's mind.

kirinm · 08/02/2023 11:15

Dissolving a company means pretty much nothing unless it's been forced due to an inability to pay debts.

Namechangedforthis234 · 08/02/2023 11:16

I might be wrong, but I wondered if the police dogs maybe traced Nicola's scent around the area where she walked with Willow and then stopped at the river. They did seem to decide to search the river and make it the main theory very quickly. Thinking of Nicola and her family.

ThighMistress · 08/02/2023 11:17

The behaviour of the woman who found the dog/phone is odd to me, but thinking about it not everyone is helpful or can be bothered, especially if they have somewhere to be.

Furthermore the woman may not have had a phone on her, and that’s why she called her dil later… although I would have presumed that at that point the owner would have found their dog and phone.

EvilGoldfish · 08/02/2023 11:17

I know google maps isn't up to date or anything.

But that river seems very twisty, seems to have multiple fallen trees across it in parts, and a lot of very shallow/sandy places.

I don't mean to be graphic but wouldn't she be near the surface by now? If she had drifted much further wouldn't she have been caught on soem branches/ been spotted in the shallows?

pigsinoodies · 08/02/2023 11:19

Yes, it's about to be struck off because it's late filing its accounts. But that doesn't point to any sort of financial issues.

tiger2691 · 08/02/2023 11:20

As ever the daily mail are shit stirring, they and everyone else need to back off and shut the fuck up, it's disgusting.

"It’s odd because she waited so long to do it. 45 minutes later.
If she was concerned about Nicola why didn’t she call someone immediately or very soon after? And if she wasn’t concerned why call anyone at all?"

The context of the call hasn't been released. She could've been ringing her DIL for anything and then mentioned it in passing.

Eg. Just had my appointment. Doctor says bloods are normal. I can pick Daisy up from school this afternoon. Guess what? I found that dog running loose again, the brown spaniel? Tied it up, it should be on a bloody lead. It was a bit weird because there was a phone on the floor with a photo of that woman from Daisy's school, 2 young girls?"........DIL that's Nicola and Willow, I better ring school and they can check she's ok.

Same with the "play date". This was a text sent to a friend who's mortgage she had arranged just the night before. The text could've been something like,

"Hi, thanks for sorting my mortgage. What a relief. Anyway, do you fancy getting together with the kids at half term, we could go bowling, my treat".....Nicola "Yes, sounds good"

By the same token the woman could've rang her DIL worried because she'd had to leave in a hurry but something felt off and Nicola could've instigated the play date conversation.

My point is there are many explanations and nothing points to one obvious outcome at this point.

Initially it seemed obvious she was in the water. Now it seems much less likely.

More experience of drownings than Lancashire Police? It's absolutely guaranteed that he hasn't.

Nor more experience than the North West Police search team - who cover from North Wales to the Scottish border.

Oaktree55 · 08/02/2023 11:23

The diving guy admitted the river is c 4m in middle. His point is if she fell there’s rocks and v shallow at edge but if she fell hit her head and was dazed it’s not impossible she’s stumbled towards the deeper part by accident. Although he says it’s unlikely her body would have been washed out it’s not impossible. It’s still most likely given all the facts that basically this is what’s happened however small the chances are that’s likely what has occurred.

ScandinavianSkies · 08/02/2023 11:23

Unlike many people I don't believe the police know more than they're saying, that they are trying to trap/trip someone up.
They very strangly made their minds up on day one that she had fallen in the river, places weren't searched immediately or cordened off. Even though they've admitted they have no evidence she has fallen in. They even announced they thought she'd gone after a ball, when a quick chat with friends would have disproved that theory.
I honestly think those heading the investigation don't want to ever consider the fact they may have got it wrong at the beginning and in years to come there will be fall out from this.
It's starting to feel like an investigation into a disappearance of someone in a country that has dodgy police and needs tourism to survive and doesn't want to spread panic, not in our own country.
All theories should have been treated as very possible right at the beginning.
