Updated allegations (as of 17-10-17) Alleged harassment/assault often took place in hotel suites or offices or private residences/rooms. Some at Cannes, Sundance, Venice, Toronto film festivals. Complainants included actresses, assistants, interns, models, presenters, a producer.

'Bargaining' was a ploy in many cases as was presenting himself in a bathrobe or naked or in the bath and often took place in hotel suite meetings where women were sent up to the room from the original venue or accompanied by assistants who were then told to leave.

Thanks for new thread. I think this has in a very short space of time, unleashed an absolute tsunami of accounts of sexual abuse, rape and harassment. The floodgates have been opened and, sorry to mix metaphors, but Pandora’s box has been opened and I don’t think there’s any going back from this now.

I began collating when I kept hearing of 'dozens' of complainants but only saw the bigger names repeated. The journalist Lisa Ryan at The Cut/Vulture is continuing to update an exhaustive list as is now the Guardian. Whether all this information will lead to an arrest remains to be seen. In the UK Lysette Anthony reported him to the police recently as did four other women anonymously. He is also under investigation in the States.

Telling a woman you won’t give her a part in a film if she doesn’t give you a blow job is not a crime, as far as I know. It remains to be seen whether or not the rape accusations are investigated properly.

As these are all famous names (I think - I know nothing about celebrity) and because we know that he also at least molested women who were not famous then the list must be longer.

While he has been a disgusting sexual predator by these accounts, much, maybe all, of what is reported is illegal. The law is there but not working. The sexual side takes all our attention for obvious reasons but the solution is in preventing anyone being able to exercise unrestrained power.

I'm not suggesting that all men, or women for that matter, abuse unchecked power but that if it is available then some will. Why does a producer ever need to meet with an actor or actress alone? Why would they ever need to conduct business in a hotel room or suite when a lobby or conference room could be used?

I have no doubt that Mr Weinstein is a powerful person who can make magic happen in business. Why pretend otherwise? The few producers I have met are like that. You can't expect the companies to police the restraint required as they are owned or run by people like him. It has to be the industry as a whole that says these are the rules. I would look to the guilds, the unions and the other professional bodies to take the lead on practices. To say, for example, how meetings should take place and how they should not. You will not stop it but you can at least stop it being seen as normal and at that point it gets just a little bit easier for victims to call it out when it does happen.
