Was anyone taken in by Project Utter Crap today?

It is said there are 200 pages of it. It could probably win the Cooker Prize for Fiction. It is the sort of thing that was probably cooked up by one of the Oxbridge teams.

How dense do they think we are? They are asking us whether we want the Norway model, the Canada model or the Papa New Guinea model? All we want is out and as soon as possible!

"One backbencher said that the Remain campaign's 'Project Fear' approach had 'turned into Project Utter Cr**'. "

Fraser Nelson works for Spectator, owned the billionaire anti EU non doms Barclay Bros.

So are you denying that Osborne's figures are wilfully deceptive?

Pangurban1 · 21/04/2016 09:25

I'm in no doubt that 'wilfully deceptive' info is promulgated on all sides. Untruths and guesses put forward as facts. Everyone is trying to scaremonger. Lots of vested interests.

I must try to read that booklet by Tom Hunter. It may be more balanced. Takes more time than headlines or snapshot columns, though.

PigletJohn · 21/04/2016 13:10

A4Document

Do you know anybody who has wilfully spread as many untruths as Boris?

howabout · 21/04/2016 14:39

Wonder how GO's average HH GDP splits between the haves and have nots? I assume with status quo the gap just keeps getting wider and wider because to do otherwise might conceivably adversely affect the spuriously predicted average?

I quite like Boris Shock. What does everyone else object to specifically?

scaryteacher · 22/04/2016 07:18

PigletJohn, Paddy Pantsdown was doing a good job on QT last night of being economical with the truth and being bombastic to boot.

PigletJohn · 22/04/2016 09:07

Howabout

Specifically, the fact that he makes up and circulates lies, to bolster his position.

nauticant · 22/04/2016 09:34

And he was involved in the planned beating-up of an enemy of one of Johnson's mates:

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/darius-boris-and-a-blast-from-the-past-1658043.html

Once you get past the fact that Boris must be great because he has funny hair, he is a nasty piece of work.

AugustaFinkNottle · 22/04/2016 12:35

Oh dear, claig's found another drum to bang. Did the Trump-worship pall? And, yet again, we're having uncritical quotes from intellectually challenged writers and speakers, claims of panic, and, when her heroes are being exposed as lying, the old "Oh, they were joking, they're so funny" excuse. It's so tedious.

claig · 22/04/2016 12:59

"we're having uncritical quotes from intellectually challenged writers and speakers"

Show me where I have quoted Hillary Benn and Juncker.

OP posts:
claig · 22/04/2016 13:04

I did mention Labour's Alan Johnson, but I was critical of him.

Pangurban1 · 22/04/2016 13:21

I forgot about the Darius Guppy murky incident.

Behind the fake bumbling 'I'm such a character, amn't I', throw in a bit of Latin, must mess up my hair, ha ha ha" might be a bit of a bigoted git.

www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-suggests-partkenyan-obama-may-have-an-ancestral-dislike-of-britain-34650752.html

Would that be the part-German, part-Turkish or part-English showing such an attitude?

claig · 22/04/2016 13:33

Pangurban1, no one is saying that Boris is a saint, far from it, he is nothing like Trump, and he has said and done wrong things and has disgracefully criticised the leading US republican candidate, but we have to judge Boris on the issue of the EU Referendum.

Have his statements about this and the Remain campaigners been correct. From what I have seen of them, I would unreservedly say yes

"PM and Osborne are Gerald Ratners of politics because they know EU is ‘cr*p’

London Mayor lays into David Cameron for peddling Europe like a dodgy jeweller"

"My own feeling is that Johnson was just going along with Guppy, humouring him, and had no intention of helping." That is also my interpretation of the link to the Guppy tape and imo how most people would deal with an old acquaintance they suspect of being on the edges of psychopathy.

Plenty of reasons to distrust and dislike DC and GO. Still not seeing what there is to dislike or distrust about Boris. Hmm

Pangurban1 · 22/04/2016 15:10

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/boris-johnson-suggests-part-kenyan-obama-may-have-an-ancestral-dislike-of-britain-a6995826.html

Independent covering it too. Maybe not too far away from Trumps othering of Obama.

Sinister when the mask slips and the act to entertain and 'endear' slides.

Pangurban1 · 22/04/2016 15:14

Also, is Boris not being a bit unpatriotic talking about his President like this? He still retains his U.S. citizenship, doesn't he?

PigletJohn · 22/04/2016 15:25

is this Boris the Oxbridge and Eton Elite we are talking about?

PigletJohn · 22/04/2016 15:28

"Still not seeing what there is to dislike or distrust about Boris. "

You mean, apart from him habitually making up and publicising lies to bolster himself?

claig · 22/04/2016 15:32

'is this Boris the Oxbridge and Eton Elite we are talking about?'

I don't think that is a fair criticism at all, Piglet. He should not be judged for his background and education, only for his egregious criticism of US Republican candidates. Let's keep this fair and balanced.

OP posts:
howabout · 22/04/2016 15:40

Piglet are you seriously suggesting there is any politician who doesn't do that? Shock

As far as I can gather Boris has paid all his taxes due in the UK and the US. I think that gives him every right to speak his mind on Obama swanning around telling UK citizens how to think. Perhaps if the UK introduced similar Worldwide income tax rules all the non-dom and secret off-shore accounts nonsense would look a bit different.

Pangurban1 · 22/04/2016 15:45

However, he is attributing motives to Obama based on his ancestry . Not even his upbringing and education, but ancestry . Fair and balanced?

What motives could you attribute to Johnson' based on his ancestry? Not merely his education and upbringing. Playing by his rules, this is fine and dandy. Maybe Johnson really wants the demise of the UK based on his German and Turkish ancestry. Atavistic urges et al.

I don't think many people will find this sideswipe so amusing. And how unpatriotic of him.

PigletJohn · 22/04/2016 15:47

"He should not be judged for his background and education"

Now I know you're joking again, claig.

If I had a pound for every time you're whinged about the evils of the Oxbridge elite, I'd have £324.

Look here.

PigletJohn · 22/04/2016 15:49

And another £122 for Bullingdon.

claig · 22/04/2016 15:51

Piglet, you are correct, I have brought that up where it was justified.

OP posts:
PigletJohn · 22/04/2016 15:53

In the same way that it is justified about Boris the Buffoon, well known Oxbridge Elite and Bullingdon man.

nauticant · 22/04/2016 16:03

The best thing I've seen recently about Boris is Boris-on-Boris:

www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/treasury-committee/news-parliament-2015/eu-referendum-evidence-15-16/

It requires patience but if you ever wanted to see what Boris looks like when held up to scrutiny, this is instructive. Boris fans will see it is just harmless japes of course.
