Will he be able to change his plans for a while Kitten?

Madbengalmum · 22/03/2016 08:59

A truly shocking situation.
Ironically, we discussed the fact that we felt very safe at Istanbul airport last year because they were X-raying bags and scanning everything and everyone before they entered the airport, i dont understand why they all are t doing this?? I is much better for security and keeps crowds to a minimum.

IDSNeighbour · 22/03/2016 09:00

^^
Belgium is likely to become one of the safest airport in the world for the next few weeks isn't it? That's what normally seems to happen after an accident or attack - heightened checks and security. The places to fear will be elsewhere.

IDSNeighbour · 22/03/2016 09:02

sorry, that was to ExLtEve

Madbengalmum · 22/03/2016 09:02

Absolutely, i think the Uk is unfortunately the next at risk, it truly is just mindless.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 09:06

LtEve, probably not, some tight contracts. He was there just after Paris, while all of the raids were going on in the District next to him. He was oblivious while I watched the tv in horror. He goes by Eurostar. Eurostar worries me a little. We are however of the mind that we need to carry on as normally as possible, that terror must not win.

That is true IDSNeighbour. But unfortunately if attacks are made before the security checks there is little more than can be done.

We can't let the Terrorists rule us can we Kitten but it won't stop us being scared. Its hard to be the one at home isn't it? I understand why my mum and MIL used to fall apart when DH and I were 'away' - it's harder to get away from it these days.

Fucking cowards targeting civilians. Makes me so bloody mad.

JinRamen · 22/03/2016 09:13

Oh my goodness. Poor Brussels. I agree if the security alert was high and it still happens then we should be scared. :(

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 09:22

You are so right LtEve. Courage is to carry on despite fear and we all need to be courageous in these times.

not appreciating pictures of the injured bring shown on bbc at the moment, nor the scrum of reporters trying to get shots of injured people on a bus going from the airport. It just adds to the trauma of the victims.

There are loads of stories like that one. ^ About the UK being next. It makes me worried and I feel sorry and sad for all the victims who have already lost their lives. Sad

exLtEveDallas · 22/03/2016 09:29

Don't go on Twitter Kitten. Some horrendously graphic shots there that caught me out before I restricted video play...Alongside the idiots using Brussels as a Brexit stance. Fucking Alison Pearson needs a muzzle.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 09:31

Thanks LtEve - I will stay away then. Had a brief foray to see if idiot trump was already saying horrendous things. He appears to be asleep still.

Eurostar is now suspended.

European security services appear to be a complete shit tip compared to ours. In fairness they probably have a lot more to deal with, given that they essentially no longer have any idea who is in their countries or where they've come from. But the failure to capture AS for such a length of time and potentially to allow him to build up another set of attacks, plus not to be able to keep control after his arrest- it's just piss, piss poor. I'm so grateful for the borders between us ATM.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 09:43

I was astonished that they managed to get across from France to Belgium through roadblocks. How????

sportinguista · 22/03/2016 09:45

13 dead BBC is saying, I'm assuming it will get worse. It does look like a revenge attack for the capture of that Paris bombers doesn't it?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 09:46

it does rather.

exLtEveDallas · 22/03/2016 10:05

Well shit.

From eye witness accounts It sounds as if the second bomb was on the evacuation route - first one near check-in desk, second one on route out past coffee shops. Classic terrorist planning. Bastards. Utter, utter bastards.

ilovesprouts · 22/03/2016 10:06

Shocking news Shockrip to all that lost there life's.

exLtEveDallas · 22/03/2016 10:07

So you'd be happy to see photos of your dismembered father on screen?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 10:09

fourmummy - if you were sat on that entirely in shock, injured, how would you feel if you then had a crowd of press pushing against the bus trying to get a photo of you?

They are the victims and they deserve dignity.

LtEve, it sounds very very deliberate planning doesnt it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 10:09

'sat on that bus'

You seemed to be spot on LtEve. No consolation knowing it though. Heart goes out to anyone who is involved. Terrifying.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2016 10:11

Therre will be people watching who will see their loved ones badly injured, before they have been told by anyone. How is that right?
