To those who object to the boycott of Israeli goods and especially to those who declare that it's impossible, what with phone chips and all that - this is how it comes across

Palestine requests totally non-violent and legal international support, and Israel objects and invokes the Holocaust.

Is there anything more peaceful and lawful Palestine could have done?

The pro-israelis on this thread argue that boycotts are non-peaceful and hateful. Are they aware that Israel boycotted the 4th geneva convention meeting yesterday?

2am postings on this thread...hmmm not sure about the rest of you real parents, but I sleep at that time. You all are not even parents and you are on a mums site? that's downright odd. It goes to prove you are accusing others of what you do yourself.

Israel did not steal the land of Israel. Once again you are trying to change history. Jews have lived there for 1000's of years! Can you deny that Judaism is an older religion? Can you deny that the holiest Jewish site is UNDER the 3rd holiest site in Islam. I see a nation that protects the holy places of all religions. This is not the case in most of the Middle East.

I feel safe knowing my holy places are protected with Israel, and I know one day I will be able to take my children to see our holy Christian sites. I won't be safe as a woman and a Christian in other places. Even if I wanted to show Mecca to my children - they aren't allowed - it's for Muslims only. I wonder if I would be welcome at Al Aqsa? I know I could visit the Wall in the Old City. The Jews are a welcoming people!

and those of you that think the Palestinians are trying to go about the peace process in a peaceful manner, can you explain the rockets fired at Israel? Can you explain the suicide bombings? Can you explain their complete rejection of previous offerings for peace? There is a reason it's called a negotiation. Both sides participate and neither side gets everything they want. For some reason the Palestinians have assumed only they get what they want and Israel gets nothing. There is nothing more important to Israel than the security of it's citizens to live in peace. Is this what the Palestinian negotiators are offering? peace and security for Israel?

LOL at the Hannerty link above. What a tool that man is.

I'm a mum of 3, mumof2andlovingit (it's in my posting history) so arguably more of a mum than you. Grin Plenty of bf'ing mums post throughout the night, plenty of night owls, plenty of insomniacs. Me? My children are on Xmas hols now, and we have a new puppy (awww) who I was sitting up with.

But MN has plenty of non-parents on it because it's a good discussion forum - and they're welcome as long as they don't post racist diatribes (like some of the pro-Israel brigade have here).

What's the death toll of the civilian children of Gaza now. How many hundreds? I wonder how anyone who is a parent can expect posters to tolerate the bombing of children and babies, as a collective punishment for terrorist activities? I certainly can't.

I am not a parent. I wasn't aware until today that it made me odd, or an anti-Semite.

i'm a parent of one and i do freelance work from home - you'll notice i can post a lot on and off in the day but it's rare you'll see me post late at night as i'm a 5am riser and tucked up in bed like an old lady pretty early.

i've been posting on mn for many years and find it a good place for discussion and am one of the small subsection of mn'ers who reads the 'in the news' section.

Piglet, the Israeli gunboat incident is still being investigaged but I would be one of the first to point the finger if this is proved that they deliberately targeted young children, as I have said to you so many times I do not revel in children and innocent children being targeted, and unlike you I would not justify that (israel themselves are investigating any allegations) . As I keep saying to you I advocate peace and would like to see peace negotiations restart or all I can see is another war. Everytime I put this to you, you do not seem to have a solution other than open the border allow suicide bombers etc. back in, before this can happen a peaceable solution has to be achieved by BOTH sides, it will take time, it will not happen overnight, neither side trust each other. The problem I have with you is when you post lies and untruths, I have seen misquotes and even quotes that are totally made up on here, people justifying the tunnels which have been proved to be terror tunnels specifically built for terror not smuggling, why do you think Egypt is blowing up the tunnels and blowing up Palestinian homes, and has their border closed?

Report
PigletInABlanketJohn · 18/12/2014 10:00

Ñipper

You allege that every time you advocate peace I advocate "letting suicide hombers through"

This is simply untrue (you like to use the word lie)

There is not a single example you can quote because you have just made it up.

Report
Nippernoo · 18/12/2014 10:37

Piglet, have you not complained that the border is not open? The reason the border is only open with strict security is because of suicide bombers, the lies on here are articles posted with supposed quotes with are untruths!!! This is the reason I do not post articles on here because they have to be from "reliable" sources

Report
PigletInABlanketJohn · 18/12/2014 10:54

Try to quote an example where you have advocated peace and I have advocated "letting the suicide bombers through".

You can't because it is a lie.

Report
Nippernoo · 18/12/2014 11:30

As I just said, have you not complained about the border not being open, because there is a wall there to stop suicide bombers and terrorist attacks? You are worried they cannot smuggle food (jam) through the tunnels, but not worried they can send terrorists through to attack civilians as they tried to do?

Report
SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 18/12/2014 11:43

To blockade food, medical aid, building materials and western doctors to people in dire need is inhumane. Full stop.

There is no justification for it - in the UK we're terrorist targets too. It doesn't mean we can act inhumanely or dish out collective punishment.

Report
Yruapita · 18/12/2014 11:48

I am a mother who is up until the early hours with a baby. Why does it matter who has children and who doesn't?

As for the tunnels, do you think there would be tunnels if the Palestinians were free from oppression and had equal rights? Do you think it's acceptable to cage a population of men, women and children based on ethnicity?

Report
Yruapita · 18/12/2014 11:54

Nipper, You talk about peace for both sides, I don't see netanyahu desperate to talk peace. In fact, wasn't he the one who put the peace talks 'in formaldehyde'?

Report
PigletInABlanketJohn · 18/12/2014 11:54

Nipper

You are unable to quote an example where you have advocated peace and I have advocated "letting the suicide bombers through"

Search as long as you like, you won't find one.

That's because it is a lie that you have made up.

Report
Nippernoo · 18/12/2014 12:00

We are going over old ground again here, check your facts, food, medical aid, building materials are all allowed in and have been throughout the conflict as well, not sure about your comment on western doctors? but many Palestinians come to Israel for free medical including life saving operations, Israel is not the monster your like to make out. And this is where I lose patience, I have all along said BOTH sides need to work our their differences but you continue to justify these terror tunnels and that is exactly what it is. The "caging" as you call it is to protect against suidcide bombers and terrorists killing innocent civilians in Israel, if that stops the border could be open again, do you not think the Israelis have the right to protect their children too? It is not as though these are imaginings this is what has happened previously, on buses, schools, train stations, nightclub to name but a few, all which Hamas has claimed responsibility for.

Report
SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 18/12/2014 12:20

No they're not allowed in freely, nipper, they are severely restricted. You check your facts. Dr Gilbert has been denied entry, the Gazans are on a starvation diet prescribed by the Israeli government. The Gazans are living in inhumane conditions that are not of their own making.

Report
Nippernoo · 18/12/2014 12:32

www.israel.org/MFA/ForeignPolicy/Peace/Humanitarian/Pages/Israeli-humanitarian-aid-continues-10-Jul-2014.aspx I cannot find any "reliable" source that Israel is limiting food supplies to Gaza and as for Doctor Gilbert, it is one doctor for reasons you and I don't know who has not been allowed to cross the border.

Report
Yruapita · 18/12/2014 12:35

Yes, the Gazans have a calorie restricted diet - restricted by israel. Have you noticed how Palestinian children seem much smaller for their age? It is due to israel starving them of good nutrition. Go read about Dr Gilbert and about the human catastrophe he witnessed in Gaza. Don't churn out what israeli propaganda has been telling you for so many years. There is so much more information out there now. People can see it now. That is why israel has run out of sympathy.

Report
SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 18/12/2014 12:35

Oh fgs. Food and aid was being restricted before the summer bombings, and continues to be restricted. I would look to something more reliable than israel.org's line on this!

Report
Yruapita · 18/12/2014 12:41

Nippernoo, yes that's right - who knows why Israel would bar a well respected doctor who says it how it is and shows the world the true face of israeli barbarity inflicted on child after child after child - who knows why Israel would bar him from Gaza!! This might take you a while to work out! Let me know when you have figured it out.

Report
Nippernoo · 18/12/2014 12:48

And Sabrina where do you have this reliable information from? I have never read so much rubbish in my life, there is no having a normal discussion with you, you are blinkered and totally one-sided, you tell me you are not Israel bashing, fgs have a look at yourselves

Report
SamG76 · 18/12/2014 13:23

Sabrina - I don't think Mads Gilbert is barred from Gaza, but from Israel. Have you seen his statements on the 9/11 attacks, which he appeared to support? You can see why the Israelis don't want him. I think the UK govt has the same approach to people who applaud 7/7.
