Happy New Year!

This is the place for you if you have made a New Year's Resolution to get on top of the chaos in your home

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

Here you can find out what it is all about. Try to ignore the cutesy stuff - cute the regulars on here are not! We also take some of the suggestions with a HUGE dose of salt (look out for wearing tie up shoes in the house)

If you decide to register for the e-mail updates from flylady be warned: unless you choose the daily digest only option you will be innundated with e-mails throughout the day. I will post the links you need each day so you don't need to register on the site to join in.

Dive in and mark your place - we start on January 1st!

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/12/2009 00:03

Love the title DWM, you have been pretty amazing in your organising the thread and links throughout December. Thank you much appreciated.

whyme2 · 29/12/2009 00:09

I am in despair with my housekeeping skills and I am now sinking under a tide of new toys and half made craft items.
I will join you on Jan 1st.

DreamTeamGirl · 29/12/2009 00:34

Yay, new thread, and I am back to my old name

Ahhhh, its like coming home

commuter · 29/12/2009 08:59

Can't imagine being at a point of no more decluttering! Chaos reigning here, so I need to summon the energy to do something about it (as she sits at the kitchen table in her dressing gown, surrounded by clutter...) Shiny sink though!

MellieChristmas · 29/12/2009 09:09

MellieChristmas · 29/12/2009 09:11

mogs0 · 29/12/2009 10:16

[gulp] Can I join too please?

I have just found a blanket that I've been looking for for over 6 months - that is not good - I'm pleased I found the blanket though !!

tibni · 29/12/2009 12:09

I will be back in the new year too

Bobbybee · 29/12/2009 12:22

Can I join too please?
I posted a thread in this section a few weeks ago when I felt really low about the state of my house and car.

I got my car cleaned up and valeted (so amazing! There was mould in it )

I've sorted out the kids room and took 2 bin bags of stuff to recycling.

I cleared out some kitchen cupboards and chucked out 2 carrier bags of stuff out.

I've still got my wardrobe to clear out and need to keep on top of things. I don't want to get back to that state!

I can't post every day as I work part time but would find the occasional posting and reading here really helpful.

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/12/2009 12:26

Welcome to BlackYellowRed and Mogs0. Take it easy follow the babysteps to start off with. It is easier then you think if you start of easy and build up. They are great on this thread, very supportive and there is nice chat as well. Plus we're human and encouragement and wise words are always available when needed much needed sometimes.
If you are eager to start jump in and join us for the tail end of december but else the first step is to shine your sink. See here for sink shiney it cutesy but try to look past it. I think we strt back with babystep 1 in the new year but not sure.

droitwichmum · 29/12/2009 15:01

Welcome (back) to everyone! We do start again with step one which is sink shining. Mine is not very shiny today - having problems finding it atm

welcome to commuter BlackYellowRed, mogs0 and Bobbybee

Pop and lurk/ post on Pages 23 and 24 of the December thread too if you like, and see you soon!

whyme2 · 29/12/2009 23:13

Oh, a shiny sink. Will have to find sink first.

droitwichmum · 30/12/2009 08:27

Hello everyone - loads of takers so far!

Welcome on board whyme2, commuter, blackyellowred, mogs0 and bobbybee.

Welcome back MrsD, OM, DEM, DTG Mellie and tibni

Thread name was inspired by swanriver - I just tinkered with it a bit.

If you feel motivated to get going here are 3 holiday clean-up missions. They are things like putting wrapping paper away, finding homes for presents, and throwing away old decorations. There are videos as well

See you soon!

Hi all, i would like to join you. 2010 is going to be the year i stop messing about, i am a good mum but a few things make me unhappy including my house so i am sorting them this year!

could do with some guidance though, i do the babysteps, presumably whilst maintaining the current state of my house? or just babysteps? if its just babysteps what happens to everything else? im a bit unsure about this but it seems worth a try!

droitwichmum · 30/12/2009 09:34

Hi matumble and welcome!

It is really up to you how much you do. If you are really struggling just do the babysteps. If you are able to do more then great!
Once you have got the hang of babysteps and feel you can do more, then add 15 minutes of decluttering of the current zone. I'll let you know which zone we are in each week - right now that's the living room; it will change on Friday or Monday. If you are lucky enough not to have any decluttering to do there are daily missions to do instead.
When you are on top of things there are detailed cleaning lists which look far too scary to contemplate!

Hope that helps, all will become clear I promise

I may very well fall off the wagon lots of times but really need to get a routine going in 2010. So I will be looking for support to keep me going and hopefully I will soon clear the hell hole that is my house.

Think I need a name change to reflect my determination. Any ideas very welcome. So far I have MrsGokWantstobeaDomesticGoddess, but that ia very long.

oftenpurple · 31/12/2009 06:20

Another newbie marking her spot. I've tried several times to start flying but have yet to achieve it. Definitely going to work harder at it in 2010!
