Happy New Year!

This is the place for you if you have made a New Year's Resolution to get on top of the chaos in your home

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

Here you can find out what it is all about. Try to ignore the cutesy stuff - cute the regulars on here are not! We also take some of the suggestions with a HUGE dose of salt (look out for wearing tie up shoes in the house)

If you decide to register for the e-mail updates from flylady be warned: unless you choose the daily digest only option you will be innundated with e-mails throughout the day. I will post the links you need each day so you don't need to register on the site to join in.

Dive in and mark your place - we start on January 1st!

Sorry if it was a shock! Have no sisters so no agenda there! Jst decided to use fave books for names etc in the hope that I might remember them!

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 22:44

nice to know its cool and figured probably not the case but should really be having an early night after my very late one last night so not really thinking clearly tbh. Right off for that early night 2nd attempt this is the babystep i always fail at.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:06

Thought i'd better use this whilst it still applied as the intention is it wont for long. DEM.

MrsGokWantssomeChristmasSpirit · 01/01/2010 23:50

Cheers Droitwichmum, just hoping I don't burn my self out. DH has just put up new shelving in DC1's room as well so I have to do the same in there when the littlies room is done.

I also need to do the same in our room, DH put 3 huge Ikea Pax wardrobes up in our room and I still haven't sorted them properly I have clothes and bits all over the place.

Another P&P fan here

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:56

surrounded. Did you know they filmed the pond scene at Lyme Park in Cheshire and they have a walk that takes you around the route that they used in the film?

Mrs Gok - the fat fairy requires yuo to do something relaxing each day. see my post earily (DEM)

MrsGokWantssomeChristmasSpirit · 02/01/2010 00:25

My relaxing time is to spend time with the DC and on the computer at intervals through the day.

I am going to try and do the baby steps each day and then at least 30 minutes to an hour in the bedrooms to get them sorted.

It doesn't help that while I was up stairs dealing with their room they trashed my hall and dining room [roll eyes]

ln1981 · 02/01/2010 00:38

is it too late to join in? really need the motivation to clear out some of my junk...

BabyStepsTiggaxx

MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 02/01/2010 09:07

Morning all

Not sure how today will go as there is a lot that will depend on other people but I will do

Baby Step 2
Shine sink
Washing up
Washing (1 load in and 1 load hung up)
Carry on with bedroom

BlackYellowRed · 02/01/2010 09:15

Morning all.
My kitchen is still quite tidy after yesterday's blitz. So I just going to keep putting dirty dishes straight into the dishwasher, keep sink clean etc. Just to make things easier.

The kitchen table is not done yet. It is full of DH & DD's Airfix modeling stuff Will get them to put that away...

Aside from that I will give the living room, hallway and kitchen a quick hoover and dust. One load of washing to dry and another to put on.

matumble · 02/01/2010 09:23

hmm not keen on the dressed to shoes bit, might have to change it to slippers in this house i think.
having spent the last goodness knows how long nagging the rest of the family to take their shoes off at the door, especially as our new house has cream carpets, i think i would be in trouble if i now started wandering round in shoes!

elliepac · 02/01/2010 09:32

in my humble opinion matumble dressed to shoes is completely unnecessary. One of my favourite moments of the day is coming home from work and taking shoes OFF! you will find that every now and then the fat fairy comes up with something completely random that makes no sense in real life. I even object to the dressed bit, i can get as much done in my pj's as i can in anything else!

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 02/01/2010 09:39

Thats alright matumble - i think that most of us count up to shoes as makeup and into slippers.

Right the first plan of actionis to get up before lunch. ds is happy in front of the tv and asking when he can go back to school cos he misses his friends and it is snowing outside.

List for today
Up
Clothes away
Ironing and away
lego models
hell R us
paperwork filing
Essay?

Right enough preocrstinating. I'm off to do. happy flying folks.

BlackYellowRed · 02/01/2010 09:40

Just to motivate myself... picture on my MN profile.

threetimemummy · 02/01/2010 09:47

Just to mark my pace.

Had a good day yesterday - manage to do a tip run and get the Xmas tree own an the needles swept up (will be glad not to see those needles for another year!!)

Now, today I have a few things I want to acheive to get the week off to a good start as DH goes back to work on Monday, and DS1 goes back to school, so routine as normal!! I will use DH while he is still here!!

Mt Washmore
Fold and put way dry washing
wash floors
vacuum upstairs
dispose of the xmas tree (which is down, but sitting in garage!!)
Change DS2's sheets
Would love to get the windows done, but doubt it will happen!!

Ok well thats my "big list", as well as all the daily stuff!!

Off now to wake up DH!!

droitwichmum · 02/01/2010 09:53

Can I join and make 2010 a year when I get to grips with the mess and chaos at home?

BlackYellowRed · 02/01/2010 10:10

Hello and welcome asdx2

Bookswapper · 02/01/2010 10:16

Its now or never.
Can I join?

My personal low? Well, we had to get pest control round last year...and we are so cluttered that I had to use the bill from pest control as proof of address to sign my son up for his primary school

Do we look up this thread every day?

droitwichmum · 02/01/2010 10:32

Come on in Bookswapper and asdx2! Coffee is on and there will be Christmas cake until Easter unless you all start eating it!

Look in each morning. I will post the links for the babystep and the mission for each day so that you do not need to register on the flylady site unless you want to. I've usually posted before 7 (often around 6.30) so you can plan your day. I'm back at work on Monday so this should happen from then - I've been treating myself to lie-ins until 8am some mornings over Christmas!

Bookswapper at least you were able to find a letter with your address on - that is an achievement in itself

missbennett · 02/01/2010 11:43

Morning - just!
Today's tasks for me are:

  • go to Weightwatchers DONE gained 2 pounds so not so bad and focussing on 59.5 lost already!
  • get clothes out of machine and hang up DONE
  • hoover sitting room
  • take bags of clothes to charity shop
  • take bag of books to second hand book shop
  • plan week's meals
  • grocery shopping
  • renew library books
and maybe tackle DD1's bedroom if I can convince her this would be a GOOD THING to do! So we'll see how we get on. I think that writing it all down should help - and encouraging to see other folks also making progress as well as knowing that I'm not the only one who is domestically challenged!
Bobbybee · 02/01/2010 11:48

Hello everyone.

I need to do a big clean today. I have been lazy recently and we've been out a lot. We're back to work/school from Mon so I want to get things sorted.

Today I need to

Clean kitchen
clean oven
unload then load dishwasher
2 lots of laundry
tidy up bedrooms
hoover house
ironing
mop all floors
clean bathroom
batch cook
take stuff to recycling

Better get a move on!
