Fledglings Fly as we reach July

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/06/2019 22:19

Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Signing in thank you for offering to lead and thank you sc for last month and chic for stepping in ❤️

I confronted some major anxiety yesterday by going to that game fair thing and talking to people (wasn’t there early enough to play anything as I went swimming first to calm myself down!) so yay me.

DD has a friend round for a sleepover so things are hectic and a bit loud! Obviously tomorrow won’t be very home eddy. Which isn’t ideal at the moment but gives DH and I some breathing space.

ChicCroissant · 30/06/2019 23:36

Signing in for July! Thanks for the thread, Expletive.

foxessocks · 01/07/2019 07:02

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the thread Smile

Breathing space is good laputa

ExpletiveDelighted · 01/07/2019 08:00

Morning all,

This week we are in Zone 1, porch/hall/dining room. Habit for the month is confirmed as Swish and Swipe. Daily Foxus is Home Blessing/Bleugh.

Focus, not Foxus. Special typo for you Foxes Smile

LivingInLaputa · 01/07/2019 08:29

Aww a foxy focus :)

I’m a bit sleepy, Cagletini slept for a good 4.5hr stretch (yes that is good at the moment Hmm) but when she did wake up I then took ages to get back to sleep even though she dozed off straight away with milk.

I don’t think the sleepover pair got much sleep at all. Hadn’t arranged when the guest was being picked up either. I think this is only the second time one of DD’s friends has slept over since we moved last July, must do better as we promised her we would be able to lots!

Onthebrink67 · 01/07/2019 08:40

Can I join you please. House is a mess and I desperately need some focus in sorting it out. I did flylady off and on a few years ago and it did help though I made the mistake of signing up for the emails 😱

ExpletiveDelighted · 01/07/2019 09:36

Sorry about the link, there's a glitch with my browser that sometimes leaves the previous url in the top bar when you want to copy and paste. Hope the links in the OP work, I copied them directly from last month's thread.

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 01/07/2019 09:39

I never look at those links anyway Grin

At least it was a baby tooth zoo!

Shannaratiger · 01/07/2019 18:38

Evening

Expletive thanks for taking on the thread

Zoo glad DS let the dentist sort his tooth. Have caught up with the other thread as well.

I've paused FB and am not on here too much as it's causing my anxiety levels to rise even higher!

Laputa agree with not drinking veg - just sounds wrong! Haven't been brave enough for a sleep over. Not sure either dc's would cope with someone else sleeping in their room.

Ta Da
Started sorting our bedroom = pulling everything out of the cupboard and realising have to get rid of our winter duvet and still have about 6 old pillows to get rid over.
Hoovered and half tided Dd's room.
Electric was really low today - realised probably because used slowest spin on W/M, due to mainly swimming stuff. Why did I not think before that when the weather is nice and hot can use the slowest spin and the clothes will still dry!

Need to look at FLYlady site, do To Do list for tomorrow and decide where to take all the bedding!

Have a good evening everyone

foxessocks · 01/07/2019 19:42

Hi everyone shannara I hear you with the internet and anxiety!! I've switched to browsing eBay for bargains, much more soothing Smile

Dinner tonight was chorizo and chickpea soup which the dc ate even though it was spicy! Had garlic bread with it 😋

Food shopping being delivered soon so will have to get myself back up off the sofa to put it all away.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/07/2019 20:19

Signing in. Thanks so much for running this month Expletive and thanks again for last month SC and Ive Flowers.

Love the “school run and shit” Ive, I am also planning to steal that phrase.

Welcome Onthebrink and a belated welcome to 70isalimit.

I also only ever look at the Flylady website if I am thread leading Grin. I do have the Flylady UK Facebook page on my Facebook feed.

I am continuing my attempt to have house as organised as possible before the summer holidays. 3 weeks to go. Today I cleaned 3 kitchen drawers. Slight possibility of doing another one tonight but doubtful. Finished almost all my physio exercises, just a few left to do tonight.

Also after a stressful morning I yet again started reading a parenting book and looking on YouTube at parenting videos.

Big wing flaps to all. Glad you got DS’ tooth sorted zoo.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/07/2019 20:21

Yes to MN in general increasing anxiety. It’s weird because some of it, in particular this thread, is absolutely amazing and so useful. Lots of it is such a time sucker though. I am also really bad at getting sucked into threads, even if I do not post and getting more and more annoyed when they don’t go the way I want. Then get more annoyed as I realise I have wasted so much time Hmm.

Callmecordelia · 01/07/2019 21:04

Signing in. Nothing to report except tiredness.

LivingInLaputa · 01/07/2019 21:34

Hi all! Welcome onthebrink and hi shannara lovely to see you! You could try an animal shelter for the bedding, I’ve definitely seen stuff on FB about those needing them. Homeless hostels too I guess?

ta da
Made egg fried rice with dinner
Got the Caglets to do a bit more HE
Started a food diary again, this time with times of eating too. Didn’t track water properly as I lost the bottle I was drinking from at one point Hmm

That’s about it I think.

DD1 went to bed early because she basically didn’t sleep at all last night. I can’t complain, as I was just the same with sleepovers at that age! Worse really as we were watching horror films and scoffing ice cream all night.

Need to have a decent home ed day tomorrow as we have a lot of other stuff going on during the week. I’m achy and tired now though.

I definitely find the internet’s bad for my MH. At the moment it’s mainly jealousy related TBH. Seeing everyone’s achievements and reminders of all the stuff I haven’t got the confidence for! But that is one of the main reasons I’m trying therapy this week.

I’m still zombified and also super hungry.
