Fledglings Fly as we reach July

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/06/2019 22:19

Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Oh that sucks bower I’m sorry.

But you know what. You have worked damn hard for too long, you need and deserve a break. On to the next chapter xxx

Bowerbird5 · 10/07/2019 20:01

Thanks. They took a long time making their mind up. I think I let myself down on the written piece. I haven't had an interview since DD was small. Feel a bit teary. It was my last hope.

foxessocks · 10/07/2019 20:14

bower Flowers really sorry to hear that

LivingInLaputa · 10/07/2019 20:16

Have a good cry bower it will clear your head a bit x

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/07/2019 22:11

bower big hugs from all at zoo house.im sorry they didn't see the dedication to you job that we hear so often in hereFlowers

Crap day here, will try and post about it tomorrow once I've had time to process it properly

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/07/2019 22:31

I think it's time to open up the naughty corner. Not that anyone's been naughty, but it is the traditional Fledgling bolthole filled with soft cushions, coffee, cakes, wine and all nice things.

Bower Flowers Wait a day or two before you do anything, it is always disappointing not to get a job. So sorry you didn't get it, what can I say - they are idiots!

zoo hope you are OK as well.

I'm OK, feeling slight off and wondering if this is the start of the bug that everyone has already had in our house! Still counting down to the end of school though. Catch you tomorrow.

Lisette1940 · 10/07/2019 22:38

Sorry to see that zoo - you haven't been having it easy either.

Expletive thank you for opening the naughty corner. I'm going to have a large glass of red wine which I'm not having in real life. There is a sea fog outside called the haar, even though we are not that close to the sea, honest . So it's very gloomy up here and I can only just about see the Mr Tumnus lamp-post light.

TooStressyTooMessy · 10/07/2019 22:38

I can add a chocolate cookie to the naughty corner with your name on it Bower FlowersFlowers

Morning all .

Today our babystep is to write inspirational phrases in our control journals (quite understand if no one does that one), our mission is to scrub the kitchen counters and Thursday is errand day.

I didn't manage to completely clean my fridge yesterday but did chuck out a few nearly empty packets of out of date stuff and wiped the worst of the crumbs up.

Also did two loads of washing - I asked DD to hang one lot up but she hung out the dry stuff which was waiting to go in the machine rather than the finished load, she did notice it was dry but thought it had just miraculously dried itself while sitting in a basket

ChicCroissant · 11/07/2019 14:14

I wish I had magical laundry that dried in the basket Envy I have another load to hang out right now.

Sorted and organised a small area today, another invisible one though! All progress in the right direction.

Another good day weather-wise here hence the laundry. Must have an ironing binge again tonight, we can't move for clean clothes I am not even sure where they are all going to go when they are put away

Also got the sewing machine out this morning to mend a cloth bag (before school) although we used a different one in the end. I was staying in today for a parcel which arrived this morning - does leave tomorrow free though.

Catch you later fledglings!

ExpletiveDelighted · 11/07/2019 14:26

Nearly forgot, I decluttered a huge pile of winter hats, scarves and gloves last night, while looking (in vain) for something in my under bed storage.

foxessocks · 11/07/2019 15:21

Ds has been such hard work today. He has fallen asleep and I know I should wake him because he doesn't go to bed very well otherwise but I'm so enjoying the peace!

I didn't realise how hot it was good to be and now we have pork loin steaks and mash for dinner which isn't particularly summery.

To do
Make some peach yogurt lollies
10 more minutes tidying spare room

LivingInLaputa · 11/07/2019 18:58

FFS lost a massive post. Had probably waffled too much anyway. Hugs to all.

Lisette1940 · 11/07/2019 20:15

It's very irritating, isn't it Laputa?

It's gone all quiet and eerie here. Thunderstorm forecast.

Bowerbird5 · 12/07/2019 07:23

Morning.
Feel slightly better this morning. Was really distraught about not getting the job. It is a parish one too so awkward as one of the staff is coming on this camping weekend. I am just going ask them not to talk to me about it. Otherwise😭

Not got much done. Saving flying for the holidays then watch me soar. I’ll be like HP on a nimbus 2000 🧹. Hopeful!
I have masses of paperwork to sort out first.

ChicCroissant · 12/07/2019 11:10

Morning!

Should really have sorted more stuff out last night ready for this morning - but didn't, and then woke up later than I'd liked which made it a tad more effort than necessary!

All out early as DH had an appointment first thing so I went with him. Better get on with something now! Not even had breakfast today Blush

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/07/2019 11:22

When does everyone break for summer??

We break 24th july

ChicCroissant · 12/07/2019 11:24

That seems late zoo, next Friday 19th for us.

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/07/2019 12:06

Friday 19th here too!

foxessocks · 12/07/2019 15:58

23rd is our last day!

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/07/2019 16:22

Today Shock.

Sorry, I've forgotten to put the link up today, too much time in the naughty corner.

Today is supposed to be clearing handbag and car, mission is to mop the kitchen floor thoroughly, and out babystep is decluttering your email inbox. HEre is the launchpad link link

OP posts:
ExpletiveDelighted · 12/07/2019 16:25

So far today I have done a bit of tidying, a bit of kitchen counter cleaning, a bit of fridge decluttering, emptied the recycling bin and one load of washing. It's so hot and humid, I hate it when it's like this.

Bower glad you're feeling a little better now, I look forward to you inspiring us putting us to shame in the holidays!
