Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Flowers zoo Flowers

foxessocks · 08/07/2019 16:46

Oh zoo sorry,I thought you'd been quiet Flowers

Well me and dd were just in the kitchen and a whole flock of birds flew in through the door I kid you not Shock I handled it really well obviously , screamed grabbed dd and ran into the living room whilst calling dh to come and help! Grin

Dh counted five birds in our house and another two just outside looking dazed. All have survived though and flown off now. Phew.

Best get on with dinner after all that excitement. Risotto tonight!

LivingInLaputa · 08/07/2019 18:07

Wow foxes that’s crazy! Most important question though, what type of bird?! I hope they didn’t poo anywhere :o

Zoo ❤️

foxessocks · 08/07/2019 18:16

laputa I honestly don't know what type of bird as I basically shut my eyes!!! I'll have to ask dh although I'm not sure how clued up he is on birds...and they did leave some poo on our door Angry

Ta das
Daily routine and s&s
Work
Orthodontist appointment - she says I'm on the home straight now but last bit is to shift one stubborn tooth and boy does it hurt! I'm back to barely being able to eat Sad
Supermarket for few bits
Helped dd make her photo frame we started yesterday
Cooked dinner, oven baked risotto, worked really well
Hoovered downstairs
Cleaned dining table including the middle section that you have to take out. Must buy a wipe clean tablecloth so I don't have to keep doing that!
Hoovered bottom half of stairs
Changed beds
Changed towels etc
Emptied bins
Mopped kitchen and bathroom

And yesterday I started putting some of dd baby clothes on eBay (about 4 years late! Haven't got any of ds ones really because they got given straight to my nephew)

Laputa does your little girl need any clothes?! What size is she in?? I probably won't put everything on eBay it'll take too long so happy to post some to anyone who might make use of some! I don't know many baby girls, lots of baby boys...

Bowerbird5 · 08/07/2019 20:10

Lisette The trick to that is every time they say I am bored you hand them a duster, socks to pair, knickers to put away. Lego to wash. Don't say anything go subtle parenting ...it works. while other parents tear their hair out my friend and I began to never hear those words!

So I did someone else's job today. What a doddle!

I did re write (not remote) two pages then printer packed up so had to leave the other one in. Handed in at eight o'clock. Smile

8zoo8 sorry you are having a rough time.I think I would tell DP if he doesn't offer support re help he can bugger off home for a couple of weeks. He seems to add to your problems especially when he says he will do something and then doesn't DH got my pills today because he hadn't bothered last Friday I ran out at the weekend and could have ended up in hospital. MEN!

Foxes weird thing to happen.

Ta Da
cat eating again yeah. fed her and henny. Syringe medicine.
work
Shopping done. meat and veg at large butchers.
clean sink.
Reading and snoozing in summer house.
watered plants.

Waves to everyone. A little each keeps the wolves at bay.
dishwasher loaded.

LivingInLaputa · 08/07/2019 21:04

Aww that is so sweet foxes! She has just gone into 2-3y stuff at 20 months 🙈

I adore birds but I probably would have done the same! We did have a bat flying round our old living room though.

Today was mixed, spent the morning sobbing and trying to get through to various people on the phone and being passed from pillar to post and scrabbling around trying to find lost forms. DH stayed downstairs home edding and then gave me hugs :) and my friend picked us up to try the parkour class. It was great, expensive though so luckily as it’s PAYG it can be an occasional thing.

DH has done an amazing job tidying up a lot for the home ed visit tomorrow. The printer isn’t working again 🙄 but I need to sort out what of the gathered work we will show her.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/07/2019 06:06

Good luck with home visit today Laputa🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Foxes sparrows??we have a little "swarm" in our garden.theyre predominately just fledged babies(slightly fluffier and smaller) and in past few days have gone from hopping onto elders waiting with mouths open for parents with food to swirling around the garden.

foxessocks · 09/07/2019 06:56

I think they were bigger than sparrows zoo but maybe it just felt that way Grin

Laputa I'll put any 2-3 stuff I come across to one side for now then I can send you a photo Smile

Got to get going early today as have to go into the office for some training.

Hope everyone has a nice day

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/07/2019 07:26

Brew morning all

I am here

My everything hurts

My kitchen cupboards are manky so that may take me more than 5 mins but i should probably try and do it!

LivingInLaputa · 09/07/2019 11:42

Visit done. Went really well, the kids got on well chatting to her and she was totally happy with everything (as I knew she would be as lots of others have met her recently and we do far more academic stuff than they do) and yet I still feel totally wrung out and grumpy/snappy and for some reason incredibly sad and feeling like a failure. I really wish I wasn’t such a negative person (I am very negative at the moment anyway) as I should objectively be proud!

Next therapy session can’t come soon enough really Confused

Fledglings Fly as we reach July
Lisette1940 · 09/07/2019 12:09

I'm glad it went so very well Laputa.

The sadness/failure feeling is entirely down to the stress of the event. I'd find it hard to have someone evaluate what I do in my home. I mean it's my sanctuary. You're just exhausted. But it went well and she clearly likes what you do in terms of educating. 😍

ChicCroissant · 09/07/2019 13:00

Afternoon all, glad to hear the visit went well Laputa.

Have been out this morning, so need to have lunch and do something productive in the hour and a half I've got left before collecting DD. She has her final after-school activities before the summer holidays tonight, so after that there is nothing on after school, yay!

Lisette1940 · 09/07/2019 13:26

Bower thanks for the advice 😀. I'm not very subtle as a parent so might try that!

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/07/2019 15:35

Laputa it's overwhelming sometimes for me having people here and if they "judging" something I'm inclined to feel badly too so at least you know you are not alone!!

til brown bin was fullwhilst chat D's about fleeing insects he saw, then he was watch out back where sparrows were diving at fat balls, and the privet flowers and buddleia

LivingInLaputa · 09/07/2019 19:01

ta da
Went swimming
Went to doctors... got referred to ADHD service... for me!!!
Picked up prescription, they are increasing my beta blockers
Bought myself some clothes and art stuff

Just got to make a phone call now that I have been procrastinating over. And then plan for tomorrow as we are supposed to go to London.

Lisette1940 · 10/07/2019 00:29

Washed a mattress topper in the bath. Will spend the next few days squeezing water out of it.
Night everyone

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/07/2019 06:56

Morning all,

Today's babystep is The Power of 15 Minutes, set your timer and start tossing trash. The mission is to clear out your fridge (long overdue here) and our daily focus is anti-procrastination.

Great news Laputa
Lisette 🤔tricky thing to clean.

Day off. I have an interview. I haven’t had an interview for about 20 years. Not sure how I feel just now. It is a couple of hours long by the looks of things. This could be the change I am after. It has all happened so quick. What shall I wear? Going to try a few things on and see. I had a skirt but it no longer fits. I have quite a nice dress which might be suitable and a brown thick cotton skirt if I can think about what I usually wear with it🤔 I sat reading pages of stuff last night and no sure I can remember much of it. Two references done willingly.😀
Think I will get quite nervous beforehand. As I changed jobs this week I have had a calmer week so far. Pm was a bit erratic yesterday as Yr 6 got their SAT s results. Some were a bit over excited to say the least.
Need to set clothes out then do some flying as it is this afternoon.

I’ve take it easy. You have an important job.
Expletive thanks for the links. I haven’t been doing much but the kitchen is always pretty much done and I swished and swiped bathroom yesterday.

ChicCroissant · 10/07/2019 09:48

Morning! Have skipped my usual activity as it has turned into bicker central (sick of the sniping) so cracking on with the work at home instead. I'll be back at lunchtime hopefully with some progress

Lisette1940 · 10/07/2019 11:15

👏Bower for the interview.

I'd get the topper professionally cleaned but they won't take it because it has to dry flat. So it's dripping in the bath ATM.

Bowerbird5 · 10/07/2019 19:00

I didn't get it.Sad
I am going to hand my notice in. I have had enough, this was my life line.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/07/2019 19:08

Oh Bower, I'm so sorry. Flowers

I'm so sorry Bower. You must put your health first.
