Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Morning all,

Here is today's launchpad link www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Babystep today is to turn negative voices to positive.

Friday's weekly task is decluttering handbag and car, also date night (DH and I are ferrying the DCs in opposite directions for the evening = probably won't see each other till about 10).

The mission is to dust and tidy your houseplants - I only have one and its small but I keep forgetting to water it.

Went to a fab concert this morning. Was quite anxious about the plans as they changed a bit but the show was great (it’s a company who do concerts in schools and talk about the orchestra etc) they got to bang a drum in time to Peer Gynt 😍

We then let the Caglets and their friend go swimming alone for the first time, we sat in the cafe which overlooks some of the pool, they did well and got out at the right time and everything ❤️

ChicCroissant · 05/07/2019 17:35

Quick hello, will be back on tonight - DD back at school shortly for an activity and just cooking the tea!

Bowerbird5 · 06/07/2019 09:05

Thanks everyone. I have decide to apply after speaking to a colleague who kindly stayed behind and helped me with a report. We don’t get paid for this time and sometimes it takes ages. We had a chat about things and she was lovely. As she wasn’t here on one of the days We had a great de brief and I now feel supported. I just need to off load and some gentle advice nothing else. She encouraged me to apply for job and offered a reference. 😀
So that is a job for today and if I don’t get it I will lick my wounds and take retirement.
Have had two good days. I was out all day on a trip and felt totally chilled.
Mixed art and dt and looked at kids at one stage. All were engaged and lots of noisy excited chat. Made me realise I am good at this part of my job. End product was mostly amazing some need a bit more support but as I explained if they did it again it would come out better next time because now they understand the process. Some of them said in the morning “ Are you teaching us today?” and I received a big 😃
Timetable next week has been changed as someone off sick so I will be supporting 1:1, teacher and I get on very well. So probably be able to stay for last few weeks. Need to speak to new Headteacher when she appears to give her heads up about resignation. I have contacted union for advice. Have resigned my self to it being retirement due to glitch. Lots of tears, DH felt so sorry for me he gave me a really big hug not something he ever does these days. It felt comforting to know he still has some feelings left for me. Yesterday I felt really calm. Like ok so this will be a new chapter in my life. At least I would have time and energy to clean.
Thanks for all your support.

Cat not eating and really can’t cope with losing her at the moment. Will phone vets today and just hope they will see her. I did asked dh to do it yesterday.DDs cat😢 warning 🤢😷The poo before bed was incredibly stinky and runny.luckily I had just finished a tub of B&J so put it in there.

Right going to have breakfast in summerhouse then plan out day. DH ordered topsoil for garden. There is loads of it so need to sort that a bit as we have hills in the garden.

Cagletini is scrummy.😀 so cute.

LivingInLaputa · 06/07/2019 10:16

Just thought I’d share this as it made me think of the toddler for some reason Hmm.

It has been quiet! Bower that will be great if the last few weeks aren’t so bad. Sometimes I think the decision making is the worst bit as you agonise over it, and it ends up better when it’s done, whichever way you actually went. Sounds good to apply for the other job, you don’t even have to definitely take it if you get it you can decide then, and if you don’t, then decision is settled and that’s good too. I’m glad you got a hug!

I’m period pain central here. Looks like DD and I have synced up already, how crazy is that?!

Big news here, DH’s ex and DSD1 have been on the Council list to downsize for ages and have got a new two bed flat to move next week! Which means that as DSD2 (they are twins but she’s the younger) has been only temporarily staying after finishing uni, is going to be living with us until she sorts her house share! I am excited as we get on well (she’s my anime buddy :o) she is fantastic with the Caglets too, just need to somehow sort sleeping arrangements and fitting in her stuff, and also finances as we want to make it fair - she is a play worker so wages vary. Also we are thinking of asking for babysitting as part contribution so DH and I can actually have some time together. I am nervous too though as I’ve never lived with anyone else before and my mental health is proper shit ATM! Eek.

ta da for yesterday
Made it to concert thanks to lovely friend
Took Caglets swimming
Got a tiny bit of home ed done after we got back as it was before 3pm
Booked Caglets onto a free parkour class on Monday
Emailed to get set list from concert so we can listen to it all again - I forgot some
Emailed about a fibro/CFS study where you get a brain scan (I know, I know, they can see if I have one...) but they may have filled their participant quota already
Made DD shower and did her hair for ballet

ta da so far today
Sterilised my menstrual cup :o
Talked friend through some anxiety and found her the number of my dentist
Apologised to DD for not being able to take her to ballroom :( normally DH does but he has a charity work thing and between period pain and PoTS flare (probably due to the heat) I’m barely standing up today! But they’ve gone off with DH to help at the event instead (litter picking).

Morning all,

Not sure if we do links at the weekend but here's the launchpad for those feeling keen launchpad

Saturday is family fun day

ExpletiveDelighted · 06/07/2019 10:30

Bower - I'm glad you've been supported by your colleague and have made some decisions about the future. Fingers crossed that the remainder of term is uneventful.

Living - that's going to be a big change! Another adult in the house will be a great help. It's nice when things fall into place like that.

We're off fruit picking shortly. I've already been out and it is horribly hot and humid but forecast to cool down a bit from tomorrow.

TooStressyTooMessy · 06/07/2019 17:24

Hi all, sorry I have not been on much. Very busy time of year with school and activities. Might not be on the thread much in the next couple of weeks but will definitely be back and ready to do August.

foxessocks · 06/07/2019 19:20

Same toostressy, so busy here at the moment I feel like I'm chasing my own tail 🙄

Dd has 3 birthday parties all this weekend, argh!

Haven't caught up with everything but that's exciting Laputa , I'm sure it will work out well for you all Smile

I wish I had chocolate right now.

Shannaratiger · 06/07/2019 19:59

Evening all

Bower Hope you get the job at the lovely school. Will be nice to be able to retire when you really want to and have lots of happy memories.
Zoo hope Dd2 is ok now.
Living hope pain reduces soon. Having an extra pair of hands sounds really helpful.

Dd's chiropractor is helping. She's just has such a low pain threshold everything either really hurts or she gets upset that it is going to. Sent her to school but DH had to then collect her 2 hours later because in too much pain.
Had phone call from Dd's teacher yesterday, she is so stressed is giving herself panic attacks and is getting abit aggressive with some children in her class. Hopefully 6 weeks break will help her calm back down, before then having to deal with move to a new school - her special school has run out of room due to doubling intake, they are now having a unit within a local mainstream school. This will help both as the other school can access the experience of our teachers with some of their pupils who are struggling.

Sorry that went on abit.
Watched Toy Story 4 today which me and the dc's loved. I think DH fell asleep, he's not sleeping because of earache and the cinema was lovely and cool!

Hope everyone has a nice/ not too bad evening.Brew Cake

Bowerbird5 · 07/07/2019 00:59

Thanks all of you. I have finished forms, bloody pages of it. I may redo one as botched it up a bit. Overran it hasn’t printed off properly. I will contact them later as we have had no end of trouble with it. I have had to write it by hand which isn’t easy. I wrote personal statement then re wrote it differently. I haven’t got my GCSE O level equivalent but do have a copy of highers. I think they were lost in one of my parents many house moves.
Someone at church said not to be disappointed as they have earmarked people for jobs before. Still they sorted out a problem with online and sent me it via email when they didn’t have to.
Laputa Wise words.
Re DSD2 good idea to exchange some baby sitting so you can go out.

Shanna has she tried mindfulness.

🦊 now I want chocolate 🍫

Cat still not eating. Vet thinks it might be due to manky water I caught her drinking. Gave her injection and some medicine that looks like shrimp paste.

LivingInLaputa · 07/07/2019 13:03

Argh, must not must not must not get sucked into MN. 🤦‍♀️

Home alone with sleeping baby so should really do something productive.

We have the home ed visitor person on Tuesday and I don’t feel remotely ready.

Lisette1940 · 07/07/2019 17:02

Apologies Blush. I'm still alive but so busy no flying has occurred. Have not caught up with thread just yet. Hope all well with other fledglings.

Lisette1940 · 07/07/2019 17:15

Bower fingers and toes crossed for lovely new job for you. Hope you get it and that a change is as good as a rest. (DH pretty burned out at the moment, poor soul).

Cagletini's got so big! What a scrumptious toddler.

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/07/2019 20:56

Quiet here this weekend, hope everyone's ok.

I didn't post a link this morning, but hopefully you remembered to Renew Your Spirit.

I did two loads of washing, made a huge pan full of strawberry jam, took DS to football, cooked dinner and cleaned the cat litter trays. I guess the jam-making was quite spirit renewing. I have also just spent 15 mins eating an ice lolly on a lounger in the back garden. Sometimes it's the little things!

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/07/2019 20:56

Oh and the weekly shop. Quite a busy day then.

OP posts:
ExpletiveDelighted · 07/07/2019 21:00

Monday's babystep is starting your control journal. We are moving into Zone 2 (the kitchen) with a mission to get the ceiling clear of cobwebs and dust bunnies. We will hopefully still be swishing and swiping, and the really keen Fledglings can tackle Home Blessing.

Launchpad

Lisette1940 · 07/07/2019 22:10

Oh good - my kitchen needs attention. Thanks expletivedelighted

Bowerbird5 · 07/07/2019 23:32

I ought to go back to control journal...just a bit lazy and won’t be making all those fancying bits oh no.

Finished form. Remote page tonight. One more needed re doing but bloody printer jammed now so can’t it was just hobbies. I wrote it under heading then discovered print error and a box to write in on next page aaarrrrghhh! It will have to do. Listed my present week bloody hell no wonder I am tired!
I have been out since early morning. Had a lovely day at Crook Hall, Durham. What beautiful gardens. Had lovely lunch Prosecco, ham sandwich and scone with jam and a little bit of naughty cream.
DH has built the stone wall and raked all the garden behind ready to lay the path. Might have bought another plant. Tiny, delicate, white flower.

ChicCroissant · 08/07/2019 00:31

Did someone mention chocolate?!

Apols for being a bit quiet over the weekend, have done all the washing up tonight and I'm expecting it to be hot tomorrow because DD's school - which is normally super-strict on uniform - has said they can take their jackets off Shock

See you tomorrow (or later today, it's after midnight now Blush ) fledglings

ChicCroissant · 08/07/2019 09:45

Morning! 2 weeks to go until the schools break up here, really looking forward to it. Time for my fortnight-to-go panic cleaning to try and get the place in shape before the break!

To-do - handwash some clothing, pay bill, ironing, decluttering and organising.

Actually cleared some cupboards this morning of out-of-date flour. I use lots of plain and self-raising, it's the strong bread flour I no longer use.

It doesn't seem that hot today so far, but dry which is good.

Catch you later fledglings!

Lisette1940 · 08/07/2019 10:04

Paul Hollywood has a nice scone recipe using strong bread flour - they are very light.

Schools have broken up here until 21 August. I have not yet heard 'I'm bored' but I'm sure I will soon.
