Fledglings Fly as we reach July

Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Forgot to add bower hope you okFlowers

Bowerbird5 · 30/07/2019 20:04

Good anti procrastination zoo.💫

I am making inroads on my boudoir. I kept putting it off so went flylady several lots of 15 minutes. Still have clothes and shoes to sort but now much tidier.

I am here alone so much easier because no one to make a mess. I definitely do better when no one here.

So far just local swelling and redness thanks zoo. I can get asthma like symptoms or lots of swelling. They have had to keep me 5 hrs for safety before. I have problems with my immune system so it varies which is slightly scary being on my own. So far so good though so maybe fighting it this time. I have some steroids I can take those.
Thanks 💐

house of mega stress here, dh working on dissertation and his feedback wasn't what he wanted. Arrrrgggghhhh, I don't want to wish the summer holidays away but I'd really like this degree to be over now! 6 years!!

Glad you're ok bower
Zoo good anti procrastination yesterday 🌟

IVEgottheDECAF · 31/07/2019 07:24

Morning all. No labour here no, would like to hold off another couple of weeks really! Havent even packed bags yet!

Half gutted dds bedroom yesterday, also stripped and remade my bed and did about 4 loads of normal washing

Foxes sorry to hear of dhs uni stress!
Zoo good you have people coming to look at issues!
Bower we have a nosey neighbour always looking in the windows he drives me mad

Waves to everyone else!

foxessocks · 31/07/2019 07:50

Sounds like you're nesting I've - productive day!

IVEgottheDECAF · 31/07/2019 07:58

Not sure about that foxes just trying to stay afloat!

Stilllivinginazoo · 31/07/2019 09:27

I've whether it's nesting or keeping afloat it all counts to having some semblance of organised when baby comes(and you might want to pack that bag!!)

Woke early,so big tada

Living room-
Mucked out sofa cushions/behind sofa under window
Cleaned on and around computer table
Cleaned under dining table(found a banana liquidating that had fell off back of table and behind some stuff stacked under table as no home for it.bleurgh!!)
Swept floor
Made smoothie bowls for zoolets breakfasts(lil zoo loved it,bit too "green" for D's and dd2 so needs amending for next time)
Wash up
Wipe tiling as forgot soak the dates and spinachy liquid shot out of jug as hand blender hit the date!!
Get dd2 help me stand my mattress on one end by headboard(slatted underneath so can remove some slats to clean properly under it and pave way for glazier to check window when he eventually rings to book a visit)

I now need to clean under said bed, before heading to meet occupational therapist at local library trailing the rabble.followed by a top up milk and bread shop on way back

Lisette1940 · 31/07/2019 10:36

Looking forward to a good clean when we get back.

LivingInLaputa · 31/07/2019 11:28

Hi. Totally behind on the thread. Blah. That is all.

Oh I did start a blog though. Yay me. I feel all exposed and vulnerable though! It’s about mental health/autism etc so it’s very personal.

Bowerbird5 · 31/07/2019 12:57

Excellent Laputa. Presume all fed no-one dead.

I've if you have the energy better now and done. If anyone offers help take it make a list in case they offer.Say pick one!

Good start zoo

I have cleaned fridge and vacuumed then was kitchen floor with Vileda spray mop.Not very impressed. Maybe they are meant to wipe over floor every day. My floor isn't that dirty but it hasn't cleaned some bits. Does anyone have one.I used their cleaning fluid but it days not to add water{confused] I was expecting to add it to hot water. Going to do one drawer in bedroom then start dining room.

Bowerbird5 · 31/07/2019 12:58

Waves to Lisette, Chic, SC and everyone else.

ExpletiveDelighted · 31/07/2019 15:50

I've got one Bower, I use it on our vinyl floor with Method floor cleaner (small
kitchen so a bottle lasts ages). It does a good job on the whole but doesn't get right into corners and edges.

IVEgottheDECAF · 31/07/2019 19:47

Thanks for running July thread too.

Fridge cleaned out
Floor washed
One drawer of clothing done. Found some skirts where the elastic has good so good job for using the summerhouse.

Planted some plants in between torrential rain.
