Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Hello all, well after the bad behaviour yesterday and Friday both DDs have redeemed themselves. Still the usual bickering etc and I had to bring them on from outside when they were being too loud earlier BUT... they were very well behaved in the restaurant and I got flowers. Back to domestic reality now but had a lovely morning and lunchtime so really can’t complain.

Just sipping a glass of Wine then am going to tidy up as much as possible. DH watching a film with DD2. DD1 will need to be coaxed off a screen in a bit but for now I will tidy up while watching some rubbish on my phone Smile. No real ta das from me today but hey, it’s not April until tomorrow!

stressy ta muchly.

Off to check off flight plans

Lisette1940 · 31/03/2019 20:02

Okay for me zone 1 is hall, upper and lower, and cloakroom. Tiny hall here in Northern Scotland as this house was built to conserve heat so we've a through lounge to kitchen.

Dining room is part of zone 5 for me as attached to living room.

ExpletiveDelighted · 31/03/2019 22:25

Signing in, thank you Stressy and Chic.

Lisette1940 · 31/03/2019 22:41

Foxes try laundry basket for ring. Don't Hoover and get kids to do forensic fingertip search.

ExpletiveDelighted · 31/03/2019 22:57

Hope it turns up Foxes.

ChicCroissant · 01/04/2019 00:09

Yes, have you put your hand into a bundle of washing or similar Stressy, or wrestled the children? I hope it turns up soon.

Lisette1940 · 01/04/2019 00:13

Try filters in washing machine

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 00:22

Hello everyone! Hope you've all had a good weekend!

Just place marking! (SC here.) Loads going on atm so will be here intermittently!

Thank you very much for new thread Toostressy and for last month Chic! Flowers Gin

Oh no Foxes, also praying to St Anthony on your behalf. Best method imhe is to choose a moment when you are alone, go "in to the zone" and and retrace all of your steps as thoroughly as poss. Repeat if necessary. Don't give up! (I lost my engagement ring in a supermarket when I was first engaged. Only discovered it was missing when I got back home! Cue mad reverse dash around shops on what seemed like wild goose chase. Thankfully found it (a true miracle) but I remember that awful feeling of panic. Also, secure tights over end hoover nozzle and use it to search sofa and awkward crevices! Good luck!

Have been at house party at friends all afternoon. Shattered now but can't sleep for some reason. G'night all!

Lisette1940 · 01/04/2019 00:24

Great Hoover tip SC.

I lost a key on a lanyard once and only found it a year later when I cleared out my scarf drawer. It came off with a scarf and was put away.

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/04/2019 06:18

Hope you find it foxes
Not impressed it's darker in the mornings (for now) I like daylight to signify the need to get up
Thanks to chic for sterling leadership thru march, and to stressy for volunteering to do aprilFlowers

foxessocks · 01/04/2019 06:59

Thanks all - good tips! Am fairly certain it isn't in the washing machine as I didn't do any washing yesterday (which is unheard of!) But I will go round the house with a fine tooth comb later definitely.im hoping doing the home bleugh might help as I tend to cover each area doing that! But will be especially careful hoovering...check a bit then hoover.

Unfortunately I did go to a few shops yesterday and a walk (dh retraced the walk for me but couldn't find it). I've sent FB messages to the shops

The dc are still asleep!!! Shock

Pushmepullyou · 01/04/2019 07:11

Morning everyone Smile

Shiny new month and at least for the first couple of days i’m full of enthusiasm for doing it properly!

Hope the ring turns up Foxes. I left mine in an envelope behind the counter st an outdoor activity place yesterday. Had got nearly all the way home before they rang me to remind me!

Right, off to read the links and do the stuff!

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 07:16
Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 07:20

Foxes look up high in the shops. I know it sounds mad, but I lost mine reaching up for something, ring came off as it scraped edge of packaging on way down ifyswim! Toes and fingers crossed for you!

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 07:58

I know Hills but I am consoling myself with a cuppa and two sneaky mini toasted M&S hot cross buns for breakfast ( smuggled here in a suitcase from UK by kind friend). A bit squished but delicious! Good luck re: study/exams!

Bowerbird5 · 01/04/2019 08:59

Pinch and a punch for first of the month.

Lying here enjoying the fact that I have slept in until 8:10 am. The fact that I don’t have to go to school and that I can get up whenever.

Thanks Chic for running March and Stressy for taking on April.

Mother’s Day here was a quiet affair. DD got up ( big effort) and made me a cup of tea which I only drank a bit of before falling asleep again then she woke me at 10 am 😳10! I was then summoned to breakfast. French toast thick wedges and warmed banana and syrup. Mmmm.
Then I was off to Mass, several people asking about me as I had been missed( ah how lovely and two people had phoned during the week) and a little bunch of flowers accepted. Home for a couple of hours DD brought down a box and we sorted it into kitchen, hers, mine , charity, take to school.
Off to choir and sang some lovely but difficult songs. New MD is pushing us further. By the end I felt I achieved all required. Home to have a quick drink and catch up in my local and then DS1 came and DD made a mild vegan curry. DS1 can be quietly funny at times. I received a very lovely 12 days of Christmas card where he crossed out the greetings inside and changed it to Mother’s Day because he had been at work all day and didn’t have time to buy a card. DD said “ You’ve had 365 days.” And 🙄. However he bought me a lovely gift of some gardening seeds, tray and markers from Garden Trading. 🤗
My only Ta Da yesterday was clearing the box.
My hall is quite tidy thanks DD so my other room has to be The boudoir as it is still a tip. Clothes lying everywhere and some boxes that need sorting and decisions made as they were on kitchen shelves and now no room. Little Ikea boxes.

Foxes I hope you find your ring. I lost three together. DH left BT person in our bedroom and rings were in tray. I have a hiding place for them but had worn them the night before and left them out. When I came home I went up, said hello and removed them and box to a safe space. Can’t remember where and it was 8 years ago. They were grandma’s and mum’s engagement rings and both quite valuable. I still hope I will find them one day. I hope yours turns up sooner than mine. I have heard putting a pop sock over the vacuum nozzle is a good idea. Suction but no consuming.

Right it is 9am and I can get up now and get cracking. Hope there will be lots of TaDas later.

Cagliostro · 01/04/2019 09:14

Morning all. Thanks for new thread stressy and for last month chic Thanks Cake

So we have one week of home ed again and then Easter holidays I think. Probably won’t get a vast amount done! And then need to really get some house/organisation done in the holidays

Ugh. So not motivated lately.

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 09:15

Ooohhhh @ Garden Trading present Bower one of my favourite shops! Envy. Enjoy your day "off" but knowing you it will be filled with action!

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 09:21

Same here Cag one more week to go before Easter two week break. Although plans for "break" actually quite full on.

Positive news: have found bloody amazing maths tutor for dd! He has found the "key" to her understanding which is "treat it like another language". She actually skipped off to maths test quite chipper this morning!

ChicCroissant · 01/04/2019 09:32

Morning all - DD has tests all this week in school and I forgot to remind her this morning that it was April Fools Day so she'll probably get caught out at some point! I did spot the Daily Mail's April Fool last night.

Have done one load of laundry but will have to spend a considerable amount of time putting all the clean and dry stuff away to hang it up somewhere! It was nice to have DH off for a week but the few routines I have went completely out of the window!

I am always full of enthusiasm at the start of the month too, I'll try and keep it for longer.

Shopping without a list this morning, felt smug as had bag in boot of car but forgot item due to lack of list so feeling less smug now. Need to wait in for a possible delivery but I may have a spare of the forgotten item anyway (it's a card).

Must.Make.Impression.On.House.Today.

Cagliostro · 01/04/2019 09:35

Oh that’s excellent sc yes it really is like another language!

Hopefully DH is ringing the doctor. He’s heard nothing from one of the specialists yet and his pain is much worse/different from when he got referred so he is hoping to get bumped up a bit

Really should get up. I ache a lot. Blah.
