Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Good idea bower I might just do that tomorrow, be easier for her as well with smaller arms!

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/04/2019 20:36

Tough day here
Dp left without telling blocked loo(again)
Cat yak on stair carpet (only carpet in jeffing house)
Lil zoo on one
Dd2 pms ridden, had bad day at school and was one discovered loo blocked..
DS had lots physical symptoms anxiety today and very needy on my already frayed nerves as I don't feel too chipper myself

On plus side,got schoolworkfor D's
He made succulent garden with student o.t as was her final session today and he enjoyed that

I'm so done for the day, just want sit in corner and rock

TooStressyTooMessy · 04/04/2019 20:48

Oh zoo BrewFlowers.

So annoying to find extra BRC Bower. When that happens I feel I should just dump it as I clearly didn’t need the stuff but I never do and always feel obliged to go through the whole box just in case.

Expletive, that does sound a bad laundry situation!

Grin at adding dusting to the to do list foxes.

How did grading go last night Cag? Great you got essay in.

It has just started raining outside here now. I think it was trying to sleet earlier but had warmed up a tiny bit and is definitely rain now.

Both DDs nearly asleep so need to get into PJs, eat and sort laundry. Am excited though as am binge watching old line of duty while I do that in preparation for watching new series.

I’m not sure if we can send something “signed for” to there though, some places refuse that. So may just have to be priority delivery?

Trying to do Tesco order but going to hand over to DH as it’s just one thing too many for my little brain

The Chinese was bloody good though

Cagliostro · 04/04/2019 21:29

Grading was ok they reckon. Thank you :) got that result to wait for and DD’s ballroom exam from Saturday, it was Samba and Rhumba, she reckons she made a mistake on one of them though so won’t be a good mark. But as long as it’s a pass she can move up to silver level.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/04/2019 07:30

To wish the kids next door would stop running up and downstairs. I’m still tired.
Need to complete boudoir.

Kitchen was cleaned and tidiedlast night.
Sitting room still tidy, just needs a vacuum.
Started on entrance and cleared some bags from school while I watched a programme.
Need to make a descision about today. Two things clash. Damn. Away for weekend. Was supposed to go today but an event for choir is on. Don’t know what to do.
Going to see if I can have another half hour kip. I was late to bed last night as I fell asleep on sofa then I was wide awake and watched some rubbish tv.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/04/2019 07:38

Tough call bower
You have done so much flying last few days, don't burn out!!(advice from a slatternGrin)

ChicCroissant · 05/04/2019 09:31

I should be panic cleaning but it's a half school day, so may not have enough time!

I have already started the day with a takeaway breakfast, despite the strong possibility that we'll be back in the same place for lunch! Need a proper coffee to kick-start me for the few hours I've got.

A big yay for Friday, and it's the end of term, I am looking forward to having DD home for a couple of weeks and not doing the school run and having a more relaxing time. She's found this week a bit stressful (exams and brace-related stuff) so it will be nice to have nothing coming up for a change!

Shadycorner · 05/04/2019 09:43

Exactly same here Chic !
Go steady Bower!
Oh NO re: washing line Expletive! Really demoralising.
Rushing, packing up for country.
Flaps to all!

Pulled out sofa by window.cleared a CARRIER BAG of crisp bags, juice bottles, sweetie wrappers and scraps unwanted paperAngryplus the entire collection kitty balls and toys!!thats not a problem really, and their excited furry faces at sight retrieved items was classic.currently have a tabby cat throwing a blue crinkly fish with a feather fin up in air and sit on her back legs catch and throw again/chew it.so cute!Grin

Planning work way around front room sort mess that don't belong out and tidying.the plan is fifteen mins a quarter room,no perfection/try clear everything just progress...

Bowerbird5 · 05/04/2019 10:45

Well I did fall back asleep for just over an hour.😴
Really fed up with cleaning boudoir now but know I need to do it. Sis coming on Monday. It is where to put the remaining stuff. Books which I still haven’t got around to reading. Some I brought back from school -mine. A box of medicine that used to live in the kitchen. Might try storing that in the shed. Right see if I can remove and redo me all in an hour! Be back at 11:45am. Then I need to be able to shut door on craft room as DD and DH piled stuff in there when I had nearly cleared it all😠 not sure what is still in there suspect DD put some of her art stuff in there. Some of her toys I can see. Not sure what to do with those. I could take them to DS 3 loft room as she has some stuff in there. He doesn’t use it. It is huge. Wish I had one here. If I put it in our attic the mice will nest in them yuk. We are planning to empty it this year and de clutter it. Scary thought.😳

Bowerbird5 · 05/04/2019 10:46

Zoo we pushed catnip leaves into a plastic ball she goes nuts for it. Like a kitten when she is an old cat.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/04/2019 11:06

bower aw😍my scoutcat still has odd funny five minutes chasing toys(he's 9 this summer) but mostly he looks at them playing like they crazy wasting energy!Grin

I've stopped 5mins.am over halfway around.carrier bag stuff to put away carrier if recycling.i can spot so d difference so will persevere...

ChicCroissant · 05/04/2019 11:13

I am about two-thirds of the way through cleaning the under-sink cupboard Sad I went in there this morning to get something and thought some soap had leaked - rather than just wiping, I thought 'oh, I've been meaning to go through this cupboard for ages' and pulled everything out!

I still have far too many candles, but may find a different spot for them now Blush

TooStressyTooMessy · 05/04/2019 13:21

Hello all.

SC Grin at BRCs.

Glad grading went ok Cag. Yes, I see what you mean about the signed for stuff. Maybe the priority delivery with a certificate of posting.

Aww zoo, our cat sounds similar. She occasionally plays with toys but mostly likes to lounge these days. Might have to try your catnip idea Bower.

Hopefully cupboard will be worth it once it’s done Chic!

I have been out for a lovely coffee with friends. However this means zero flying in the house done. DH is off so I am really hoping he has done at least some of home bleugh. I have at least achieved picking one thing up while I was out. Also went to shoe repair place but they can’t fix my shoe, need to take it to another place which is in the city centre so won’t be doing that anytime soon Sad.

Going to get petrol now in preparation for Easter hols then need to nip to pet shop then home. Need to get swim stuff etc ready. Catch you all later.

Bowerbird5 · 05/04/2019 13:28

When we got the new kitchen the under sink cupboard is smaller 😳so I can barely get in what is needed. DH cleared it out so I guess apart from vases( now in shed) he must have chucked the rest. I feel your pain I hated cleaning that cupboard out now we struggle to get cat food in. Likewise too many candles so trying to use some up. Mine are in sitting room cupboard a whole shelf of them or holders or incense & holders.

Zoo is he really called Scoutcat as I think it is a lovely name.
Just having 5 mins to gather self too. We don’t know how old cat is but DD has had her a while knocked her off her friend whose mum was local cat lady. DD said “ Ah he has loads mum.”
So put away most of the stuff and just have two boxes ah actually realised four. Two for charity shop so may put them in shed or actually take a trip to the SHOP! Not anywhere near Ideal Home standard but looks half reasonable. Maybe not to sister. Other sis wouldn’t bat an eyelid hers was much worse but she was squeezing five kids into a two bedroom house😳 I had four in a three bedroom. Third small bunk beds surficed though. Who says kids need a bedroom each! Ours copied. Ha ha ha just realised all the boys are now living on their own maybe that’s why.😂 They did share for years actually but lasts year DS 2 bought another house and left DS3 in his paying rent. DS1 asked his long term lodger to move out 14 years( only came for a month) and now lives on his own and nearly finished his mortgage at 41.
Right so need to vacuum Hall and sitting room then going to go shopping as I am doing the church feeding weekend so doubt I will be back on as I have no WiFi down there and old phone.

Hope you all have good flying this weekend and some R&R too.

Bowerbird5 · 05/04/2019 13:35

SC went through box...couldn’t just bin it shudders at the thought of it.

Cabs glad grading went ok 🤞🏻For good result. I spent loads on DDs then she left before final trophy ahhh she covereted it for years. She was about 14 though. She did ballet, tap and freestyle. She can have all her trophy’s when she moves out again. Will help her pack them😁 she forgets lots of her stuff is still in our house. Boys trophy’s for football. I gave them some but the odd one turns up still. Must drop them off will be another mission😁

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/04/2019 13:59

Breakfast of chocolate pancakes to start hols

Cag here's recipe in case you fancy giving it a try with cagletini!!

30g oat flour(oats whizz in blender/I used ready break)
1/2 TSP baking powder
2tbsp cocoa powder(not drinking choc)
I ripe banana,mashed to puree
2tbsp milk
I egg

Mix oats, powder and cocoa.add egg, banana a milk and mix to a batter(I had add splash more milk)

Medium heat 2-3 mins,flip.2mins more
Serve yogurt and berries

It makes 4 American style pancakes
Lil zoo and D's had 1 each with plain yogurt and blueberries,dd2 could've eaten all four I think!Grin

Just thought I'd share as was such hit here and no added sugar!

TooStressyTooMessy · 06/04/2019 09:28

Sounds fab zoo Smile.

Morning everyone.

Have just prodded myself with the pointy stick as so far I have done nothing. First morning of the holidays though and no dancing so we don’t need to go out until later. Going to get a coffee and get on with things.
