Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Downing coffee. Closing screen. Jabbing myself with rusty medievel pike.

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/04/2019 09:56

I am ill. There is always something wrong with me atm. I feel like a hypochondriac. I have had ear / jaw / tooth ache all weekend. Now its starting in my throat.

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/04/2019 10:01

Errr.......and ty for the new thread Flowers

Bowerbird5 · 01/04/2019 10:13

Morning all 👋 actually still lying in. Like Sc must shut screen ! We have started our school hols two glorious weeks off and I have found out by accident who my new boss is. I may stay a bit longer to watch the fun and games. 😁 I know him quite well. I’m going to keep quiet about it until he arrives😉 he, he! There will be a lot of changes and he will be running the ship no one else.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/04/2019 10:21

Morning all.

Hope not too many April fools pranks for anyone today!

Ive Flowers.

Sounds intriguing about new boss Bower!

Totally with you both Chic and SC with making an impression on house.

Fab news about maths tutor SC.

Yes, Pushme, very true about enthusiasm for first few days of month Grin.

Waves to lisette, foxes, Cag, Hills and everyone else.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/04/2019 11:07

bower I can almost see you rubbing your hands together in glee and delight with that post. Grin

foxessocks · 01/04/2019 11:10

Thanks everyone I'm feeling cheered by all your stories of lost rings (although sorry yours never turned up bower Sad). At least I'm not the only one! Sc unfortunately the shops we went to were massive DIY store type ones...I didn't reach up to shelves but I did pick up plants, pick up ds mid tantrum... it really could be anywhere Sad

I have to say I'm not feeling filled with optimism re start of month! I'm feeling disorganised and rabbit in the headlights...

Ta da
School/ nursery run
Looked for ring on way back
Work
Washing on

To do
Everything really...

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 11:20

Foxes Blush I went back and was literally crawling around the feet of shoppers looking everywhere I was that desperate. [Must have looked deranged.] Don't give up! Re-trace every step! Seriously. Praying here.

Whey hey Bower that certainly sounds like more than a glimmer of hope Grin

Sorry you are feeling ill I've and generally run down Brew

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 11:21

Look in the plants! Look in ds discarded trousers and socks! Look in car!

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 11:22

I'm with you re: disorganised and rabbit in headlights btw Foxes. So much to do before hols and so little time! And yet here I am procrastinating precisely because I am under pressure. Duh!

Shadycorner · 01/04/2019 11:23

arrgghh! Grin

Cagliostro · 01/04/2019 11:26

Yup total rabbit in headlights here. Managed a bit of work so far although that involved a lot of looking for a lost book. Also found a great french online programme at massive discount so that’s something.

DH still needs to ring the doctor.

I am in a really crappy mood (I suspect PMT but who knows, cycle is all over the place lately)

Cagliostro · 01/04/2019 13:29

Right french and chemistry done with DD and DS respectively, that was hard work as no concentration! Handwriting books started (regret choosing cursive ones as I really just want fluent and joined up without being fussy on style, but hey ho it’s a start and they are Harry Potter/minecraft so they actually willingly did it) and maths and iPad apps. Plus DS did some comprehension work. Definitely lunch now

ChicCroissant · 01/04/2019 14:31

I think I spent most of the morning just putting laundry away Blush and the ironing pile is enormous, will do some of that tonight if I don't have to push DD to revise too much.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/04/2019 14:34

Yes, laundry can be so time consuming to put away Chic!

Ta da:-
Tidied one drawer and decluttered another one
Laundry
Prepped packed tea for DDs.
How did that take all day? Hmm

To do:-
School pick up etc

OP posts:
foxessocks · 01/04/2019 15:35

I've done alright but could have done it all quicker and more efficiently, still:

Ta da
Daily routine and s&s bathroom
Dusted
Hoovered
Mopped
Emptied bins
Polished mirrors
Changed dc bed sheets and towels etc (shook bed sheets out v carefully in case ring turned up but sadly no)
Contacted all the places I went on Sunday about ring, nothing Sad
Searched for ring some more...
15 minutes decluttering in porch, got rid of some too small coats of the dc
Looked into some tax stuff and actually found answers - amazing!
Looked through handbag Hmm
Another load of washing

To do
Cook dinner - chicken and pesto wrapped in pastry with sweet potato chips and mushrooms and onion (bit random but I'm using stuff up before food shop arrives later!)

foxessocks · 01/04/2019 15:36

Ds seems to be coming down with something, he's very hot Sad

ChicCroissant · 01/04/2019 16:11

My DD is sneezing and one side of her nose is running, seems like constant colds here at the moment - what is going on?! Hope your DS is OK foxes.

Unearthed a bag and box of ancestral RCs looking for grandparents passports, marriage or birth certificate as D sister needs it and she now after all this time has been told she needs to become British citizen. Our parents were born in other countries, dad because his parents were working in the colonies. So Ben looking through that instead of cleaning.

Going to make a list to complete timed.

Bowerbird5 · 01/04/2019 18:47

Zoo tell her you can’t have baby chicks without a cockerel! I still take those bits out with a spoon.

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/04/2019 19:23

She's adamant won't eat again😢I can get odd baking recipe past her,but I've recently discovered I can use linseeds(which have omega acids and very good fir you) ground up as egg substitute.will let you know how baking with that goes when try it!!
She eats every veg I've ever put in front of her except cooked spinach which chokes her and celery.eats fruit.loves beans and lentils.eats cheese, milk yogurt etc.so whilst I'm sad we lost a cheap, quick easy protein source for a veggie,it's not like I can't work with other things!!
Pesto was devoured.dd2 declared needed me to keep spoonful back to dunk her wedges in!!glad I started looking thru recipes and actually deploying some into service as I try not to get into a rut or a lose urge to cook...

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/04/2019 20:35

Well she lived chickpea flour omelette, and pinched tbsp of the pesto to dunk her wedges in as out of ketchup!
Well that's two new recipes to add to the rotation

Think I might eat some crap n watch TV for a bit!
Hope everyone's ok,lil zoo been down twice with her throat alreadySad
