Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/03/2019 10:12

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Hello, Can I join in. I was on this... or something similar 7 or 8 years ago.
I then had to go back to full-time work and my DH was very ill at the very point I was working longer hours. So we struggled over the years. DH can and does more around the house. DS is now a 14 year old and I'm feeling the pain of the lost years.. So I want to whip through the housework now I'm part-time again. This will mean I'll have time for him before he flies the nest.

Lisette1940 · 01/04/2019 21:14

That's sweet newme. Welcome.

Please pray for my hard drive. I can't boot up from the recovery disks and fear for the very life span of my laptop. It's only 3 Sad

ChicCroissant · 01/04/2019 21:20

Welcome Newme, good to have you with us.

DD has a bad cold, streaming nose and the calpol is in full use yet again. She's got a week of tests at school as well, so it won't help!

Main room still not as tidy as I'd like, but I will have to wait in for something tomorrow so should have plenty of time to sort. Did make inroads in the clean laundry today.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/04/2019 21:30

Welcome newme Smile. What a lovely reason to get housework done to want to spend more time with your DS.

Thinking good thoughts for laptop lisette. 3 years definitely doesn’t seem that old.

TooStressyTooMessy · 01/04/2019 21:31

Bad timing for your DD to be ill Chic Sad.

OP posts:
Lisette1940 · 01/04/2019 22:17

Yeah but I'm not a careful owner. I like pressing buttons too hastily and I've messed it up EnvyAngrySadConfusedGin

ChicCroissant · 01/04/2019 23:16

It is poor timing, but could also be a handy excuse

I'm shattered, see you in the morning - sleep well everyone.

Bowerbird5 · 01/04/2019 23:49

Welcome Newme.🙂

zoo DD has a box of egg substitute I will check the name in the morning. I can’t go down now as in bed and I have settled the cat and shut her in the kitchen because she shate on the carpet again. DD was here so I didn’t have to clean it up🤗

🤫Yes I am all 🤭smiley at the thought 🤗of new boss. Socially we get on well so here’s hoping. Think I will keep stumb at the beginning until he arrives.

Chic shame for her.
🤞🏻Lisette

Plan to do half the room tomorrow. Wardrobe looks good, clothes all on colour coded hangers.
Going under table, drawers and bed tomorrow. Send for help if you don’t hear from me.

Lisette1940 · 02/04/2019 00:14

Thanks Bower and everyone but it's time for the tech experts. My button pressing had to stop.

Husband had a good day in work so that's something.

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/04/2019 06:05

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/04/2019 07:41

Must check the current zones and do some work there, need sort D's work for today too(really need to do that the night before)

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/04/2019 07:43

Hmmm, current zone work won't work for me this week as we don't have a dining room etc...
Winging it I think

TooStressyTooMessy · 02/04/2019 09:36

Morning all Brew.

I usually ignore the current zone and just declutter wherever but today I am going to tidy the assortment of summer and winter hats, sunglasses etc by the front door. Don’t want to put the winter stuff away yet as temperature has dropped again but it could do with a tidy up and just sorted somewhere easily accessible.

Also planning to do a bit of kitchen declutteirng now I have started in there.

Big wing flaps to all.

Zoo I don't have a dining room either so I just do porch and dining table which is off our living room (which usually has a load of stuff on it!) You have to fit it to what works for you I guess

Loving the 'fake clean' principle!

Yay for the ring turning up foxes, lovely news!

My delivery arrived so I have the rest of the day free and the weather has improved so I'm back on the laundry! Can get at least one big bit done to hang outside.

Flap on, fledglings!

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/04/2019 12:15

Bloody freezing here in east of England chic
Most shoppings away
Cats enjoying stray tuna left from tuna and avo rolls D's n I had for lunch.we now watching old reruns of bake off and I felt mini battenburgs were appropriate fodder to chomp on whilst viewing[greedy cake lover emoticon]

foxessocks · 02/04/2019 13:09

Thanks all! It was in the utility room on the floor I think it fell out of a bundle of washing I was about to put in the machine, I did check all the washing but I guess it got caught up in something and I didn't feel it maybe.

Anyway - very very very relieved!!

Shadycorner · 02/04/2019 13:34

Yay that's brilliant news Foxes! So happy you found it! Phew! Grin

Welcome back Newme19! (Really sorry, I should recognise you as I was probably here 7 yrs ago - unless it was different thread- but my menopausal brain is struggling to recall ... !) Great when "oldies" RTN and glad to hear your dh is in better health than previously!

So sorry about laptop Lisette hope it can be revived with tech help without too much time and/ or ££££.

Sorry to hear your DD unwell Chic, especially when she has tests. Hope she recovers soon.

Stupendous list Zoo!

Wing flaps to everyone else!

I am in a pit. My fitness levels are still poor after op and I just can't do as much as I did previously. House very demanding. DD very demanding. Life generally demanding (for other reasons). Housework threatening to overwhelm. Trying to do small bursts but it doesn't touch the surface really. I was warned about this though; this bit of recovery almost harder than immediately after op as not the same support available so no surprise at least! Heigh ho! Onwards and upwards!

Bowerbird5 · 02/04/2019 14:48

Wooo who,
Great news Foxes. Now if everyone could send “ find it “ vibes myway I would be ecstactic if I found mine.

Hail stones announced on local radio temp. 8C possible snow on high ground.

Small steps SC don’t overdo it as you are good at reminding me.

Ta das today
Dishes done, kitchen tidy.
Wiped disgusting bin.
Tackling dust bunnies in bedroom. Down under one side of room. Moved chest of drawers, partly. Dust all up wall and underneath.
Dusted
Had poached eggs for lunch
Found dust had resettled?
I have put washing away, yeah me!
Have stuff all over the floor on other half so need to do that.
Washing third load just finishing. Been doing table cloths, teatowels.

Going to dentist. Hope straight forward. Always dread it. Will buy something yummy from village butcher as DD not here. Might go for a wander to Garden centre though very cold.

Good flying
