Or try to anyway!

All welcome! I am struggling to stay awake so I’ll do the proper thread stuff tomorrow, but if you’d like some encouragement and chat while you get your house sorted then this is the place for you. We follow flylady in a delightfully lax sort of fashion.

Special thanks to zoo for the title idea 💐 😘

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/05/2018 08:13

Hello all, we are back from my parents and the visit was tolerable and the kids loved it so that is good. Need to do some more unpacking still.

Currently DC and I are collapsed on the sofa watching telly but it won’t last so i’ll Have to get up in a few minutes.

To do:-
Pick up cat from cattery
DDs haircuts
Go into opticians as my new glasses still don’t feel v comfy Sad
Possibly go for a run. Ugh.
Unpack etc.

A warm welcome to sonnet Smile.

I may regret this but do we need a thread leader for June? I can do if so. Or if we already have someone I can do July.

Cagliostro · 29/05/2018 08:54

SC might do June I think? But will need some help when she is away for the last bit. Thanks

Only one more night until we get the cotbed. Can’t see bedroom floor currently.

Living room doesn’t seem much better. It just gets messy so fast :(

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/05/2018 09:10

Yes things get messy so quickly and tidy so slowly!! Ah ok, SC, I’m happy to take over the end of June (or whenever in June really) if that helps?

Dashing .... waves to everyone ...

Thank you Toostressy that would be great! (Glad visit wasn't too bad and dc enjoyed it!)

I'm fine to run thread for main body of June - just at the end when I transfer to wreck2 where Internet signal sometimes a bit slow/intermittent when I may need help (and poss the odd weekend in between)

Largely based here now though until end of month (horse is on holiday with equine friends for a month!) because dd knee-deep in exams needing good food/good sleep/calming words etc etc). The pressure put on school children here in the state system is immense Sad.

Tally-ho!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/05/2018 09:52

School does sound ridiculous SC Sad.

I know, 21 kids Shock!

Yes, the visit actually went really well and we nearly made it through with major dramas until yesterday morning when we were loading the car up, DDs upset to be leaving and my mum keeping giving DH more and more stuff to put in the already full car. He was very obviously annoyed so it didn’t end very well Hmm.

However, all in all it really wasn’t too bad and the kids had a great time. I shut down most parenting conversations my parents tried to have with me as things were going well and I couldn’t face that changing. At least we are back now .

Saltcrust · 29/05/2018 09:56

Well done for surviving it all without any major dramas Toostressy and leave-takings are often stressful for one reason or another! It's always a relief to be home isn't it? Flowers Brew Cake Bear

Saltcrust · 29/05/2018 10:30

Sorry, just read that back - rushing - meant "try not to worry as leave-takings are often stressful for one reason or another" meaning "hopefully everyone will understand"!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2018 18:36

Evening all!
Glad you survived stressy
Foxes hope you either got a nap or found second wind and didn't share with dc

I did couple more loads washing
Watched miss peregrine's home for peculiar children on dvd with zoolets and coloured a picture D's.a rare bit time with them interactive and "unplugged"

Tonight dinner-corned beef and mash with carrots

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2018 18:38
foxessocks · 29/05/2018 19:20

I was working from home on my own for half the day zoo which was actually bliss!! And I booked a little holiday. So all in all I'm feeling good. Dc were bouncing off the walls this evening though, gone quiet now though so hopefully asleep already Grin

It's been quiet on here all day. Hope everyone ok. The weather has been awful here today. All the roads round here are flooded and traffic has been a nightmare.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2018 19:36

Rains started about half hr ago here.been very cloudy n threat rain all day tho.ment rain thru night and showers again tom
I think we've had so many dry days it feels a bit unending but guess plants need it

Saltcrust · 29/05/2018 20:03

That's great about a holiday Foxes; I bet you could really, really use the break (well as much of a break as you get with los!)

Thank you so much Zoo; stress levels not helped today by yet another terrorist attack in another city here. Two police officers murdered with a knife; horribly Sad. And in the vicinity of a school where a cleaner was taken hostage (thankfully she escaped ok). Foreign office advice that more attacks anticipated. Not remotely anxious for myself but csnt help but be v worried about DD and friends whose school is right in the middle of an area that's known for terrorism.

Your interactive "unplugged" time with DC sounds lovely! (DD and I have a battleships and draughts 'thing' going on currently and we're learning cribbage!)

Gin for Goth - much deserved after that list!

Not much achieved Flying-wise today as out at med appts. Lots of waiting in airless waiting rooms... . Popped in to office on way back and had tea with everyone.

Two loads washing done and hung up.

Pesto pasta with peas, broccoli and bacon for supper for DD and dh. Home made celery soup for me (really wanted the pasta though!)

Going to try and focus a bit more in the house tonight -general tidying - as busy day tomorrow.

Waves to all!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/05/2018 20:24

Horrible to hear of another attack SC Flowers.

It has looked as if it is going to rain all day here but we only had a few drops on and off.

Both girls in bed although DD2 not asleep yet so DH has gone in to have a go. I am going to do a power 36 minutes now in the hope of sitting down at 9pm. It will probably be later but at least I can try.

Big wing flaps to all.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2018 20:49

Oh SCFlowersI wish we could end all this violence our children are having to accept as part of lifeSad
All fed n watered
Washed up
Lil ones in bed, read for bit and settling

Time for vegging in front of Gogglebox
Least seems but cooler,at least for now!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2018 20:55

SC dinner sounded delicious(my willpower would've force me face first into the pasta)
I play draughts occasionally with dd2 and Othello
DS loves battleships
They all learning rummy
Go nuts for donuts is popular too

We are building a nice hoard of board games and I'd love start a regular habit of time playing them together

carbonella · 29/05/2018 21:02

Hi all, just popping in - somehow the week is running away from me!
Nice to read all your ta das :) and welcome @sonnet

Feel free to shorten my name to 'carbs', since it's all I seem to eat Hmm Grin

went to ikea to buy jars and bits for pantry
cleared kitchen table and island (big job! Covered in painting stuff and other random junk)

Friend came round for a cuppa and dh made food - impromptu supper party.

House remains a tip.

carbonella · 29/05/2018 21:04

Oh and zoo - yes we love board games here too! I hated playing them with the dcs when they were teeny (I tried to hide it though!) but now they're older it's really fun - we love settlers of catan and ticket to ride the best.
