Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

ta da
✅Caglets put laundry away, I did baby’s
✅GOT RID OF HAPPYLAND 😱😱😱
✅3 bags of charity stuff and several bin bags out the door
✅maths app with Caglets
✅had nice time with friend playing board games
✅ordered Tesco
✅tidied lots in our room - thanks to that and the work DH did yesterday, cagletini can now sleep in her basket on the floor instead of on the bed! And we will feasibly have room to buy an actual cot soon 💸💸💸
✅about to go to bed at a reasonable hour

Oooo cag i bet sending all that stuff out the door felt amazing! I have a huge box of shoes i dont wear i want to declutter. The box is just in the bedroom and looks really scruffy. I might try and do that today.

Up at 515 with the small one 😴

DebraBarone · 03/04/2018 06:35

Hello - please can I join? I’ve dabbled in FlyLady before, but never really stuck with it. I did find it helped massively with keeping on top of the basics.
I have 3 small children and recently moved to a bigger house which needs more cleaning!
Off to mug up on the routines and I’ll be back later to post my Ta-Da’s.

Bowerbird5 · 03/04/2018 06:40

Goodness me Cags you have been busy. You put me to shame. I only managed a carrier bag yesterday.

Oh Blue a lot of work ahead of you today. However once they have gone you can enjoy it too. Sometimes I think having visitors just gives you a good kick up the bum. Perhaps I need to invite someone around to motivate me!

Afresh not again. He is a lark! I slept all night till 5:30 am. Must have been the large gin Easter Grin just had two toilet breaks.
Plan for today
Hot spots x3
Ironing
Put washing away( why do I procrastinate over this so much, I hate putting it away. Maybe need to declutter drawers so I have room as I think not knowing where to put it is half the problem. For first time in my life I think I have too many clothes!

Front door - clean. Inside I have masses of bags for school ...again.
Vacuum stairs
Clean side door to kitchen.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 03/04/2018 06:51

Welcome debra How old are your dc? I have four between 1 and 10 years. We moved to a bigger house last year and the space is amazing but it does take more cleaning!

Bower i have got much better over washing lately. It used to sit in piles outside the owners bedroom door for days but the landings look so lovely without clothes everywhere!

Think ds3 is in pain with teeth. Have administered nurofen.

foxessocks · 03/04/2018 07:18

Morning everyone.

Would it be madness to contemplate IKEA during the Easter holidays?!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 03/04/2018 07:52

foxes i would go as long as didnt have take dc

Cagliostro · 03/04/2018 07:53

It’s probably madness to attempt Ikea at any time TBF.

Welcome debra! I have three also, but the older two are 10 and 8. Supposedly this means they can help more Hmm but they do have ASD/possibly various other things so still require a fair bit of input.

I am worried about the extra cleaning when we move to a bigger place. However I’m hoping that having less clutter will be the main problem solved. It’s not like I clean much here, it’s too messy! Maybe everything having a place will help? Please tell me it will help!

To paraphrase a popular meme, I am neither lark nor owl, just a permanently exhausted pigeon.

It did feel good getting rid of the Happyland! It’s just a drop in the ocean really, as is the rubbish. But I must remind myself it’s all progress.

I am thoroughly dreading today if I’m honest. Pupils this morning (making the most of the fact DH is here to take the baby) so need to get up - after finishing this Easter egg 😳 - and tidy the living room. At least several boxes have been put away so there’s more space. And I have a big empty box (was the Happyland storage) in which to stash and dash for now. Trying to gradually condense all the BRCs too. Anyway, I then have to take the Caglets to a town quite a distance away, as DD has ballet rehearsals. They chose this theatre rather than the local one as it’s cheaper, which I understand, but it’s a complete PITA and I have to entertain the younger two in a town with no mall (ie inside space) for a good few hours. Thankfully there is a library.

So there won’t be any Flying today. Can’t even put a wash on unless it finishes before the lesson, as the spin cycle can be ridiculously noisy. Oh I forgot a ta da from yesterday, I finally 😳 washed my sling! Long overdue because dribbly baby 🙊 but the wrap loosened and came out of the rings, so I need to learn to rethread that. By tomorrow, as I have to wear it to the theatre with baby during the show. Hope it’s dry by then. 🤦‍♀️

Welcome Debra

fox if you go early it should be fine or you could go in the evening? Best to avoid the middle of the day. We have made that mistake a few times. Also, depending on what you are buying you can take the shortcuts.

Bower school stuff can take over your house if you’re not careful. I have teaching friends who have loads of resources etc at home. I have never really made resources at home, only occasionally and then I keep it in school. Last night I decided to tidy my work drawers. Man, I regretted it. Only 2 drawers but it was stuffed with papers - feedback from obs, performance management, training notes, data. I (eventually) managed to separate everything into 2 folders. Loads of papers have gone in recycling and all the data stuff is going back to school to be shredded. I don’t want to put the folders back in the drawers but am stumped where else to put them. I don’t like to see work stuff at home.

Callmecordelia · 03/04/2018 08:29

Builders are here and the useless conservatory is coming down!

Cagliostro · 03/04/2018 08:29

Argh stressing already today, I somehow missed the invoice from our lovely trampolining coach. I seriously need to declutter my email. :( Great way to make a first impression of organising it all. :(

Hi everyone! Great work so far. I’ve got a puker here Sad spam mostly doing laundry. Plus making —bloody— marmalade out of the bargain citrus fruit I couldn’t resist at the market. And baking a cake for tomorrow.

My Little ta das (if I’m doing this right!)

Loads of laundry
Marmalade etc
Did reading with the Twins
Swept porch (am one day behind but decided I could do that as time difference makes it ok)
Cleaned bathroom
Cleaned kitchen
About to put bins out, have a run and go to bed.

Not a bad day, considering!!

PersisFord · 03/04/2018 08:33

That’s exciting cordelia!!

Bowerbird5 · 03/04/2018 08:33

FitzNeither do I but I only have a tiny room at school which is pretty full. I have all what you have just said and different bags for different groups. I have to make some resources this holidays too.
I am trying to go through them and get rid of some of the stuff. I have a shredder at home 😁 and it is shredded then recycled as chicken bedding😁
What role do you have at school?

You're a brave woman to even contemplate it foxes I went to the Bristol one once in school hols, never again. Our nearest is about 50 miles away so rarely go unless somewhere else or going there to hospital. Actually I think I went there too in school hols and it was heaving too. We had time to kill though so didn't matter. Skipped some areas.
Welcome Debra cross post😀 I have four but they are grown up and don't live here anymore. I still have some of there crap though. Just a few bits of boys crap but lots of DDs crap Art/ DT and I still don't seem to keep the house tidy. I like it tidy I just find something more interesting to do quite a lot of the time and I have Art & craft stuff/ crap too. So I live in CHAOS.

FoolandFitz · 03/04/2018 08:59

Bower I work as a TA in nursery at the moment. I have my own group so effectively their teacher - all the teacher workload with crap pay!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 03/04/2018 09:01

Ta da

Wash on
Dryer on
Dry washing sorted
Worktops tidied
Worktops wiped
Table wiped
Highchair wiped

Ds3 has crashed out on the sofa so my plan of shops early on has gone poof!

Callmecordelia · 03/04/2018 09:02

Very exciting. It's the first step to a garden we can use.

To do
Swap toddlers clothes over to 2-3 size Sad
Washing
Put washing away
Carry on with clear up from guests
Do a happy dance that fly infested fridge or oven conservatory is going

Afreshcuppateaplease · 03/04/2018 09:07

I need to sort out garden. Its awful but havent go mega money to throw at it!

Anyone any cheap solutions to very unever bumpy concrete!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 03/04/2018 09:08

callme how old is your little one? Ds3 is 17m and i recently moved him into 18-24m clothes to find they fit like a glove! Shock

Callmecordelia · 03/04/2018 10:06

Afresh he's just two. I think his trousers are OK, but tops are getting a bit difficult to get over his head. They don't look too small everywhere else, but I don't like the tugging! Maybe he has a huge head?!? Confused

Aldi have some fake grass outdoor rugs coming up. Might be a short term solution. I was going to put some on the decking here to stop the slippiness, but the rot everywhere has made it a much bigger job. The steps are lethal, one of the builders has already slipped. The whole garden needs a massive overhaul. It's taking a big chunk of our savings, but I can't spend another summer with the children with no outside space.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 03/04/2018 10:10

Ds3 has a big head. And hes tall. He does not take after me!

DebraBarone · 03/04/2018 10:33

Phew! Stopping for a brew. I’m a bit rubbish with names but hello everyone.

afreshcuppa mine are 18m, 4 and 7. The toddler is at the destructive phase!

cagliostro more space is most definitely better, you can be way more organised as things have a proper home.

fox one word - meatballs!

So far:

Ta da
Emptied bin
