Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

welcome mrsoh and all the newcomers

still your typos get more and more funny. "poo back later" Grin

hill you've done quite lot enven though you are poorly. Take it easy.

Normally we do Easter with DP's parents but not this year (DP's choice). We did plastic egg hunt today, with sweets in it for DS but that's the only Eastery thing we have done.

Ta-da

Cleared DS's art and craft cupboard - he never crafts anymore so lots of things are in a basket to take to school and the rest is in the bin.

Tackled sentimental cards/experiences/DS's drawings and technology cupboards - I still have lots of leads but it all looks super neat. The sentimental stuff took ages.

Moved bed and furniture in DS's room and hoovered the room within an inch of it's life.

It's been nice today. We have been busy with our own things but all in the same room so it's been quite companionable.

Welcome newbies🐰

I got most of yesterday's jobs done but DH never lifted a finger all day after promising to clean the kitchen.😷😤
However he did cook lunch today😁 while I went to Mass. I prepped some before hand including Mary Berry's red cabbage. Oooh it was so good.
I was thinking how cute she looked in that lovely pushchair not realising it was a new one Cags
Can help with RE I taught Yr 3 & 4 for years so have masses of notes on Judaism and Christianity. Yr 5 I have taught once before and it is Buddhism and Christianity. We just compare two however Yr 5 we start on Judaism with Jesus being a Jew and it comes in again for Easter, Seder plates and Passover. I have quite a lot of work sheets 😉 I try to mingle art/ music in too.
I am having the day off today being Easter Sunday and no choir. It is quite strange not having to organise my week and sit and do a couple of hours school work.
Tomorrow will be busy in the morning with the afternoon out I hope.
No eggs here unless Henny Penny has laid me one. She has had a good scrat in the garden today and I might have found her a friend. I am trying to decide between some speckled hens and more rescue. However I have found a dark hen with green black feathers locally so might give her a ring tomorrow.

Bowerbird5 · 01/04/2018 18:31

I laughed out loud at the " poo back later" especially as poonamis had been mentioned already.

Oh dear Afresh I will put some Floridix in the naughty corner for you.

Hello to the Newbies & Happy Easter to all.

This year I've found out the downside of having a teen is they're not that bothered about an egg hunt. The upside is I didn't have to be up at stupid o'clock to hide them. She still enjoyed it despite her trying to appear cool.

Ta-dahs
Morning routine
Changed bedding
Laundry on
Dry laundry away
Sunday lunch
Big shop - we only went in for milk & bread! Grin
Afternoon nap!

I'm now feeling snacky but despite all the chocolate yumminess surrounding me I want something savoury

PersisFord · 01/04/2018 20:46

Thanks for the welcome, esp my fellow Anne aficionado.

Ok, I’ve been reading the website. I’m Southern Hemisphere so it’s morning here. So....

To do:
2 loads of washing (wet bed Angry)
Shine sink
Get dressed
Hoover living room before all the bits of crisps get trodden in to the carpet.

Could anyone give some examples of their daily routines? I basically need to include: clean bathroom and toilet (3 small kids, one bathroom, gets filthy!), wipe down kitchen, hoover, do 2 loads of laundry (that’s without wet beds!), put away clean laundry.

Places in my house that particularly need work are the kids clothes and kids toys. Our house is tiny so we don’t have any storage - outgrown clothes are still in the drawers waiting to go down to the next child but that means the drawers are always bulging full. I have pretty much given up putting mine away and just get dressed from the clean laundry pile (don’t judge....)

Afreshcuppateaplease · 01/04/2018 20:59

Persis how old are your dc? I used to be the same with putting washing away but now force myself to do it

PersisFord · 01/04/2018 21:30

Links for 2nd April
Babystep #2 get dressed to shoes many of us leave out the shoes though
So it seems we are in zone 1 this week rather than yesterday, makes sense I guess! Entrance, porch and dining room. Detailed cleaning list for said zone is here
Missions for the week here - Monday, sweep clean etc in entrance
Just to confirm, the monthly habit for April is indeed making your bed
And lastly the daily focus for Monday is the Home Bleugh here (for newbies, this is our friendly term for the home blessing hour - several tasks that supposedly take an hour each week...
First Monday of the month folks, let’s smash it! Or something.

Right just signing in before bed. Was a bit worried I’d fail my thread duties on day two as our internet went down for a bit (lost, I was, lost!) but we did an IT Crowd style switch it off and on again.

My Easter was good, dad took us out for lunch which was lovely, and we wandered along to the playground after and chatted while the Caglets played.

So my mission is to get back to daily ta da lists so here’s mine:
ta da
✅had a shower - making the most of the fact mum has one
✅was sensible and got most of our stuff packed before we went out, knowing I’d be tired when we got back, that totally paid off!
✅loooong journey home due to roadworks and diversions and suchlike
✅moved laundry along, stuck another wash on
✅all three Caglets bathed
✅bed before midnight... just about

DH put some of the packed boxes in the wardrobe. Not exactly the ones I wanted and there’s still some other random stuff in there, so I’m letting go of my perfectionism [deep breath] and am really pleased despite the fact that it’s not exactly the way I’d have done it, because it’s done and there’s a lot more room in our bedroom now in which to continue sorting a load of other stuff, which is awesome.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/04/2018 07:08

Morning all and a big welcome to newbies Easter Smile. Thanks for links Cag. In terms of goals for April, mine is to continue decluttering as much as possible. I am still working through the Clutterbug 30 day challenge (not attempting it in 30 days) and am going to keep an eye on the Flylady missions. Not expecting miracles over school holidays though.

Fooland, I went through sentimental stuff recently and it took such a long time!

My parents have been here for Easter which is often stressful. One more morning and then they leave Easter Confused so just got to get through this morning. Ended up having a discussion with my mum yesterday as to how stressful and frankly impressively pleasing everyone is. I hate confrontation in everyday life but forced myself to do it.

So yesterday we had 2 incidences of me /DH telling the DDs off. As an example one of them was DD2 kicking me, she went to time out. Apparently (admittedly they didn’t say this to my face) if they had known it would be a weekend of crying they would not have come. WTF? Another incidence of us playing a board game (my parents refused to play). DD1 lost (she came second anyway) and cried as children do. My parents were horrified and my dad didn’t speak for an hour as he was upset. Someone give me strength please.

Sorry to derail thread, am getting up NOW!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/04/2018 07:12

impossible not impressively. Although it would indeed be impressive if o could keep everyone happy.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 02/04/2018 07:31

Well done for talking to her stressy They seem to have strange expectations of children and family life. Do they realise your dc are not there purely to entertain them? My dd cries every time she looses a game. The older two still have the occasional strop too. They are learning to deal with disapointment. Its normal!

foxessocks · 02/04/2018 08:13

toostressy sorry you're having such a hard time with your parents but well done for talking to them. Fwiw my dd often cries when she loses a game - it's totally normal I think!!

Afresh sorry about UP CakeBrew hope you had an ok night sleep at least

Zoo hope you're feeling ok this morning remember to always come and have a chat here if you're feeling sad Flowers

The dc are playing happily together Shock this never happens when dh isn't here. Off to an Easter egg hunt today and then as dh is at home I'm going to rope him into helping with the home bleugh! Oh he's going to love it...notGrin . Good news is he did already do dd bed a few days ago so only got to do ds bed so that's something at least.

Goth was it you who said you wanted savoury food last night?! I am having that problem - loads of chocolate in the house and all I wanted to snack on was crisps Confused

foxessocks · 02/04/2018 08:15

zoo sorry if that sounded patronising!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/04/2018 08:16

Thanks guys Smile. zoo Flowers

Bowerbird5 · 02/04/2018 08:26

Morning everyone.
Which is why I play board games in Nurture. It is about playing the game not winning. I actually heard one of the most competitive children say this last year. I could have kissed him. For years and years of doing this no one has ever said it! Grandad has thanked me because now his grandchildren can play board games without tipping the board up because they are not winning!

Toostressy sorry that your parents are adding to your stress. Perhaps they have forgotten what it is like having young children. I don't have grandchildren but because I work with kids I hope if they come along that I will be in tune with them and likewise my children.
Today's list
Finish dining room.
Tidy surface on other side of room which seems to have become a hot spot.
Dust

Start kitchen.

Reorganise fridge.😖 DH!
Wipe microwave.
Wipe all work surfaces.

Clean hot spots.
Top of fridge full of meds.
Kitchen table.
Reorganise pans and wash any dusty ones( like the fish kettle) wipe down surface of old, defunct Rayburn.
Hope DH will wash floor. My wrist is bothering me.
Note list of threes🐣

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/04/2018 08:38

Wasn't patronising foxes
Today I want sit under the master bed and suck dust.feels like I've had all the life sucked out of me and I think I am getting the girls cold

Tadas
Fed cats
Littertray
Seperated scoutcat from little tabby he bullying and put him out
Wash on
Bins empty
Recycling out

Not sure what,if anything else will get done as I have overwhelming urge to retreat back to bed.not helped by fact it's pouring with rain(better than snow first forecast I guess) and there's already been a fight between zoolets over a ds that was discovered an mucked out the girls room
I need to go co op and buy milk

Afreshcuppateaplease · 02/04/2018 08:42

We have rain. We have already had attempt at snow.

I also need to go to coop for milk!

MrsOH2004 · 02/04/2018 09:05

Morning everyone, rubbish nights sleep, but that's nothing new.

Was going to put some washing on but it's pouring with rain, we do have a tumble but it leaks water from the bottom so we're looking for a new one, have found one but I need to persuade dh.

To do list
Shine sink
Empty dishwasher
Pop Asda
Hoover
Clean Washing away
Clean glass

Need to get a move on and get to Asda as dh wants the car to go to his Mum's, his bank holiday is being spent decorating it so it can be put up for sale.

Callmecordelia · 02/04/2018 09:14

Toostressy well done for talking to them. It does sound hard, and they sound like they are judgemental and have no idea what children are like.

My hard work paid off, food went without a hitch. DH snapped at DD at the end of the day when he'd had enough, and then had to apologise, but apart from that it was OK, no arguments. There's nothing like a load of chocolate in the house to highlight parenting differences between me and my sister though. Or probably more accurately me and my BIL.

We have a phenomenal amount of clearing up and washing up to get through, and bags and bags of clothes. Stuff they are lending us for DS and back ones we lent them for their DD.

Some lovely news - our other sister is pregnant! She told us all face to face. She is due at the end of September.

We are eating leftovers today. I want to do no cooking at all.
