Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

Tbh I feel slightly miffed that they get chocolate off my mum, not once did my parents get me an Easter egg when I was a kid 🎻🎻🎻 (or an advent calendar! DH bought me two on our first Xmas together 😂😍). Bloody grandparents spoiling kids honestly. Rude.

Anyway. 😂 we are back, they did well! Met me at the shops then had a few mins at the park before walking back a different way to me. Yay! I think I might build that into the new weekend routine tbh - good practise for them, and gives us a reason to get out of the house.

And most importantly, I HAVE CHOCOLATE.

cag my eldest two are 10 and nearly 9, eldest has been to shop over the road twice on his own and the younger one has been no where! Have also left 10 year old home alone a few times (for no more than 30 min) I need to let go a bit more though maybe

Cagliostro · 29/04/2018 18:05

There’s so many things to consider though isn’t there? It’s definitely not as simple as they should be doing X by Y age. Shops was actually a 15min walk so that’s definitely much further than anything they’ve done before. They were capable of the route years ago, TBH they could get themselves to any of their clubs on their own too as they are used to the buses - it’s mainly their concentration I worry about. They could easily switch buses etc. But I actually feel many years off leaving them home alone as DS especially is outrageously impulsive and clumsy and I think in his case he’s more likely to hurt himself at home than he is walking to the shops or something. Not sure about DD, I think she might be too anxious. She will get a little more freedom when she gets her phone in June. They both get to wander in town a little bit - we are there a lot, generally when it’s a bit quieter during school hours (surprised nobody’s reported them for truancy 😂) and they and a friend often get to go off to the toy shops while me and my friend sit on a bench. So just little chances to build up I suppose. Eep.

Ds1 is year 5 so in just over a year will have to get himself to and from school possibly using buses. He definitly needs training up.

I will leave him home alone briefly. He just watches tv. I wouldnt leave ds2 with him. Wouldnt trust them not to fight.

Cagliostro · 29/04/2018 18:20

My two are (technically) in year 6 and 4! If they were going to secondary though, it would just be the local one that is the same distance to walk as the juniors. Lots of DD’s peers seem to walk alone to school already. I was getting the bus to school from year seven but it was a grammar school system in my hometown so I was at a school an hour away by bus. No wonder I was always tired!

My husband is flying for me at the moment as sadly our pregnancy wasn't to be. I'll be back once I'm recovered and I'm looking forward to the distraction of getting this place organised. See you all soon and thank you for your kind wishes.

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/04/2018 19:44

cag if you are doing may might be worth setting up and just running over if this one gets too full

ta da
clear enough space in ds' room to move furniture and put new furniture in room
build furniture
do the moving and putting in of furniture
threaten to hoover up all lego on floor and let it go to tip!
Deep clean 7/8ths of the lounge
deep tidy the boy dungeon - he has done most of it! Shock
Deep clean the boy dundeon
Laundry
start deep cleaning the kitchen again
Deal with people who are being stupid and let other people deal with the stupid people staying out of that one
Try not to brain the over excited teen who is about to implode/explode due to having to wait to get something done.
Research what needs to be done

I am soo tired and sore I can barely pick my legs up to walk and my back hates me. Just taking 10 mins with a hot water bottle before doing the thing for the boy, running away FAST from the disaster when it doesn't work/the excitement when it does work. After that I have more laundry to do a kitchen to deep clean and my room to tidy enough so that the thing that should not be next to a radiator is not next to the radiator. SO not much then Hmm is it bedtime yet? please say it is bedtime yet! Don't make me do more things... I don't want to!

Just popping on with links as it will be a rush tomorrow morning.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saturday 30th April
www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/day-30/ Check your calendars for birthdays etc next month. Annoys me every month that does, what about February? Do March birthdays get ignored?
www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/day-31/ Just for completeness, as there is no April 31st, but it’s an ignorable one anyway about emails. Meh.
We will be in Zone 5: www.flylady.net/d/zones/zone-5/ the living room! But this is the only day as Tuesday brings a new month and zone.
www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions Fire drill in the living room. Gonna take a lot more than that here.
Daily focus is the home bleugh: www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-monday/
Reminder that this month’s daily focus was making your bed. Hahahahaha. No.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Better drop a quick list as I’ve lapsed somewhat.
✅laundry x1
✅clothes all away
✅dirty clothes gathered
✅washing up gathered (will do tomorrow)
✅bit of tidying up
✅walked back from shops
✅bought bread milk etc (so not just the chocolate)
✅deal with a lot of neediness, impulsive behaviour etc from the Caglets. They are beyond exhausting ATM. Can’t even tell we did any tidying.
✅Sunday home ed stuff
✅in bed at a decent time

Morning.
Feel sad for you power. Be gentle with yourself and a little spoiling of yourself.been there myself.🌺

Bowerbird5 · 30/04/2018 07:30

Good morning
I seem to be waking earlier with the light which is good. Always used to get up at 6 am but not the last year.
Good news last week. I don't have clogged arteries so no op just now. Whew! I was worried. My wrist is agony though this morning. I've had it strapped most of last week. Took paracetamol in the night but it is throbbing this morning not good.
Choir was great yesterday.our choirmaster was away as he had a big choir to conduct last night. Not too much complaining from the ladies as he sent a young man who was very gentle with us and quite pleasing on the eye.
No home Bleugh for me as it is a work day but if I get washing out, ironing done and floor washed I'll be happy.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/04/2018 08:03

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/04/2018 08:20

Nice tada plower

Cagliostro · 30/04/2018 08:33

Delegating is good plower! :o What’s your favourite plant?

I don’t have any house plants at all. I’d like to get some when we move, but they need to be very low maintenance 😳 I am as far from green fingered as it’s possible to be 😳

Weather is shocking here today. Glad DH is off as he can do taekwondo run at 5. Relatives arrive in 2 hours. No idea how long they are staying. DH is up tidying and I need to join him. Somewhat at my wits end with lack of sleep.

OP posts:
PlowerOfScotland · 30/04/2018 08:38

Now low maintenance plants I am your woman "Cag". Cactus, loads of them flower and look lovely, I like them in mini vivs so kids can't poke them. So little work so ideal for fliers. All the joy and no extra jobs.
