Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

Brew for tea

Bowerbird5 · 03/04/2018 12:56

🍸this calls for gin!

I'm at DS2 house. He also had a big head and still has according to his sister but I don't think she means it in quite the same way!

MEN!
DH has been sneaky. Moving furniture about. I wanted to check what he was throwing out. He hired a van which I found out about by accident. They phoned and the poor young lad dropped DH right in it. So, DS supposed to collect DH but went back to sleep then realised he left car keys at work so I then had to take DH , collect DS2. And drop both off at van hire. Be half an hour-1 hr says DH trying to fob me off. I went to B&Q. And then Pets at Home for chicken treats. DH must have belted back to DS 's because no one here they had been and gone. DH has now gone miles away no offer of me going with him for the run out. Thanks! They took some stuff to dump without me checking what has been taken. I can't get into garage and house is cold. I went for soup at village cafe as I didn't realise I had keys and was about to have a little accident. Soup was lovely and loo clean. Just having cup of tea and thinking I may as well go home as DS catching train back at 2 pm. At least I would get some TaDas that way as I am only up to first three. Got DH to do stairs and wipe top of fridge because I am too short. I sorted med box which lives on the top. Would like to move it as it looks better off. Handy if anyone with kids comes though as no danger.

Could light wood burner and watch DS2's very big telly. Or go home do ironing while I watch my small telly. DS3 has a cinema screen size. It also has fancy features. His house might be warmer😄 my stove might go out and Henny was promised a treat as she looked so forlorn when I left. Like to a child I said" I'll bring you back a treat!" She has learnt a new trick. DH has left some logs nearer the house so she has learnt to jump on those and then onto the old stove which is now filled with flowers in summer. This means she can look into the kitchen from outside the window. Comical.

Callmecordelia · 03/04/2018 13:00

It's gone!

There's so much light in my kitchen and the garden looks about three times its former size. I'm stunned. (In a good way). Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/04/2018 13:48

Excellent call me
Afresh I feel your pain...
Bower henny sounds very comical

Living room is a sty,no other word for it

Dinner tonight jacket potatoes, meatballs in carrot and red pepper sauce and saute spinach with garlic(twice baked potatoes with spinach and cheese for dd2 and tray roasted veggies)lil zoo got chocolate blancmange, other two angel delight for pud

Need continue sift thru recipes.i determined break back of it and start an array new recipe ideas so we don't get in a rut....

Bowerbird5 · 03/04/2018 14:49

Great callme

She is at the moment zoo. I think she is missing company and is seeking me out. She isn't interested in DH. Sensible hen!

I decided to stay at Ds2 's but he still isn't here. I have lit his fire though and I am watching Escape to the country on his big telly.you could be nearly in the room!
How do people afford these houses. I would like someone with say £60,000 come along and say find me a house. This one was £900,000 in 2009 I wonder if they buy it. It is gorgeous.
DS's house is a lovely country cottage.
I think I will go home soon.the sun just showed its face I could go and clean out Henny. She has Ben busy scratching out the moss from the grass. Saved me a job. I wanted to see if DS has a Gumtree account because there is a hen on there I think I might want.
Wing flaps to everyone today.

foxessocks · 03/04/2018 15:12

Didn't bother with IKEA. My mum had similar to what I wanted and let me have it for free Grin so now the dc have a little table and chairs to sit at to do colouring etc.

Just got home. Ds asleep on me so can't move. need to wake him up really.

Ta da from earlier

GoingGoingGoth · 03/04/2018 15:33

Huge lists everyone

Done
Morning routine
Took car into garage
Post office
Hour at the local cat cafe Grin - great cake & kittens
Then found missed call from garage - one of the parts hadn't arrived so they hadn't started work - so told them to do what they can and we'll get the other bits fixed another day
Ironing

Also got new jeans delivered from Topshop. They were recommended on here couple of months back and OMG they fit wonderfully.

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/04/2018 16:54

foxes I call that a massive win!!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/04/2018 16:55

Goth
Don't worry my ta da list looks like this
Sleep til 3 pm
Horrify my mother with a conversation about woo.
Head to wales for chippy tea and the beach.

Technically it is the power of 3... but not the most productive. Blush

foxessocks · 03/04/2018 19:19

hills most definitely a win! Your day sounds quite nice I haven't had chip shop chips for ages.

Goth please share which top shop jeans they are I'm always looking for decent jeans. I have only two decent pairs that I wear constantly , one pair of jeggings from Sainsbury's which are brilliant (and only £12.50!) and one pair from next which are good but haven't had them long yet so can't comment how well they last yet! My jeans ways get saggy knees which I hate.

Anyway...back to flying. Ahem. Didn't finish my list today as just ended up being so busy but here goes:

Ta da
Daily routine
Online food shop
Got table and chairs from my parents house and reassembled it - the dc love it.
Made lentil lasagne for dinner - a Tesco recipe which was amazing (if I do say so myself)

Didn't do any decluttering whatsoever. I'm basically just ignoring the porch as it's a work in progress (which has been a work in progress since before Christmas Hmm)

GoingGoingGoth · 03/04/2018 20:04

Foxes it's the Mom jeans I hate the name but they are high waisted and tapered leg not skinny. Plus they have different leg length and I'm a short arse

So we had mixed results at the garage - they've fixed the dodgy door catches but now the passenger electric window doesn't work and the air bag light is on Angry So I have to ring them in the morning.

Why can't anything be straight forward?

Also done
Dinner
Washing up
Wash load on

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/04/2018 21:49

Hello all, hello to newbies and thanks so much for everyone’s help getting through my parents’ visit. Busy day and need to sort stuff for work tomorrow so just on to say thanks for links Cag and big wing flaps for all.

Also belatedly to say we have something like this in the hallway foxes. We keep a few pairs of gloves etc in it but tbh it is not big enough to store lots so the rest live in a bag in the cupboard in winter. I have to say I love it though and it is one of the few pieces of furniture hat I find it relatively easy to keep organised.

Cagliostro · 03/04/2018 22:45

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Links for Wednesday 4th April
Babystep post it notes Hmm (although I am really starting to wonder if I actually should do a control journal so...)
Mission in zone 1 (dining room and entrance) banishing smudges on walls and suchlike
Daily focus anti procrastination so do something you’ve been putting off
Remember monthly focus is to make your bed, declutter in current zone, blah blah blah

CotswoldStrife · 03/04/2018 22:56

I feel much better after a good sleep last night - I had a headache yesterday too.

Lots of washing up today, bit of laundry (washing and putting the clean clothes away, the ironing awaits me tonight) and a tiny bit of tidying. Toad in the hole for tea tonight, followed most of a Tana Ramsey recipe so took the skin off the sausages and replaced with a smaller amount than recommended of bacon

I need some new jeans, I did look at some jegging type ones in Primark last week but I'd need a large size to get round my middle and then they'd be too baggy on the legs Blush Never tried Sainsbury's jeggings though, may do that this week - is the 25% off still on?

Spent a couple of hours playing Disney Infinity on the Wii with DD. We were so tired last night we went to bed and she was still awake! She slept better than us in the hotel though.

Cagliostro · 03/04/2018 23:04

That’s a super cute piece of furniture stressy I’d love something like that! We’ve agreed to get proper coat hooks when we move and can actually drill the walls to put things up. Currently we have a bent (ie overloaded) metal thing that hangs over the door, and I have a children’s coat hook thing but even command strips don’t hold it up. I may see if we can upgrade to something like that. Although I have big plans for the hallway - or depending on the house layout it may have to be in another room. I want a sort of command centre for all the Caglets’ club stuff - dance shoes, uniforms etc. So they can pack their bags every night for the next day and it’s all in one place, no forgotten ballet socks etc. I guess it would make sense to have all the other stuff needed outdoors there, like gloves etc. But either way we need proper permanent coat hooks. And don’t get me started on shoes, I haven’t a clue what we will do about those. We have one of those over the door things (it’s on the opposite side of the door to aforementioned coat hook - it’s a full size door to a cupboard under the stairs, weird layout as the stairs are in the living room ) but I hate it with a passion TBH.

Huzzah for vamoosed conservatory! So exciting. I’m looking forward to having a garden, we’ve agreed we aren’t expecting anything of it this year as spring will be over by the time we move, and we have so much to organise and pay for without adding plants etc. So the plan is, pay a friend to mow it for us and just have it as grass until next spring when we will plan flower beds and such. That said we do want a wild area, so I guess we could mark that out straight away and let it get a headstart!

What. A. Day. Several hours in random town with a grumpy git of an 8yo, thank fuck the weather held, not that he wanted to actually do much anyway but it made the wandering round easier. DD had an absolute blast at rehearsal although anxiety is ramping up about the show tomorrow. Latest thing is that she has a very wobbly tooth and is convinced it will come out mid dance! Have to admit my own anxiety has been super high the last few days, I was messaging friends to calm myself down, I just really stress about stuff like this TBH (and I really really don’t show this to the Caglets, I am very careful and light and breezy).

ta da
✅helped with quick tidy
✅scanned Tesco shop
✅reminded Caglets to do DoodleMaths
✅taught pupils
✅got DD to rehearsal without forgetting anything
✅found the library and renewed all my books - must find them all and return the one which is requested by someone else
✅various emails about trampolining
✅paid coach and hall hire for trampolining
✅organised timings for trip back to theatre town tomorrow with my parents who are seeing the show
✅organised meal for DD between shows which was seriously stressing me out because I had failed to sort it beforehand, luckily it was fine although I’m still paranoid the principal is annoyed at me for forgetting before!
✅booked tickets to new anime film next week, so excited! Zoo it’s Mary and the Witch’s Flower, debut from a new studio that is sort of taking over from Ghibli. Realised though that DD doesn’t have her glasses and will struggle to read the subtitles. Bugger. :(
✅got Cagletini into her own bed, I’m about to sleep myself at a relatively decent hour.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 03/04/2018 23:09

forgot -
✅play nice games and puzzles with DS, he did cheer up in the end. I also found some bargain geomag in a chazzer so it was quite a productive wander! We ended up in the theatre cafe for ages.
✅counsel family member (yes one of those ones) who is pregnant and panicking for various reasons

Right, honestly bedtime now

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 03/04/2018 23:10

Oh and also
✅bathed Caglets (no choice really as DD was covered in hair gel)

Didn't end up getting chippy tea. It's a long story but I am ok with it.
Just got in tbh. So snaffling 2 pain killers and bed the alarm clock and I are not going to be friends in the morning. Who wants to take bets I will have to add buy new alarm clock to the to do list tomo?

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/04/2018 06:20

Brew for hills and anyone else in need

Up at 545 to poonami

Nice

foxessocks · 04/04/2018 07:11

afresh morning and anyone else who's up now. Hope the poonami was manageable! My ds was sneakily sick in DD bedroom last night before they went to bed. They were both bouncing on the bed and neither of them noticed when he puked all over her carpet Hmm anyway the good thing was it made dh get the carpet cleaner out in her room which we've been meaning to do for ages. Looks lovely now. (Ds is fine think just too much bouncing!)

Cag I get really anxious at certain times of the month don't know if your cycle affects your anxiety at all. I don't suffer with anxiety on a daily basis particularly but a week or so every month (sometimes less sometimes more) I get really anxious and stressed.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/04/2018 07:31

Ta da

Dry pots away
Dryer on

I freakishly dont have enough washing to put a load on yet. I cannot remember when this last happened!

Re gardens i have been looking at fake grass and think i can get a ok sized decent looking piece for about £80-90 has anyone ever used this kind of stuff before?

Cagliostro · 04/04/2018 08:25

Why is MN not letting me bookmark posts anymore? Hmm Not sure if it’s my browser.

Baby and I are the only ones awake Shock DD must be worn out. I’m hoping she will be tired enough after today (two performances, won’t be home until after 10) that we can just not give her the melatonin, as she is due a med break. But then she might be wired and less able to sleep due to the excitement. Argh.

I have a sore throat Angry less anxious today, foxes I do have anxiety issues anyway (due to the autism, and I also have an unconfirmed diagnosis of OCD Confused) but you are right about the hormones, they do make it worse! Unfortunately I have no clue about my cycle ATM as just randomly spotting, a bit unnerving really as I never had that when DS was EBF. Still get the cramps and epic ragey PMT though. Odd.

I can hear an awake child. I’m staying put though!

I noticed the booked mark feature had disappeared last night Cag there is probably a thread in site stuff. Tbh that is one of the best features on mn and if they have taken it away then they have ultimately made the site incredibly difficult to use. Great for marketing/Ad purposes as it is increase clicks but will piss me off to the point where I will decide there is no point to mn and I don't suspect that I will be the only one.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/04/2018 08:40

There is thread here

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/04/2018 09:18
