Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread

Star HAPPY NEW YEAR Star

Welcome to the January Flylady thread, where we try and maintain our nests in good order by following the Flylady method. We'll post links each day to the Flylady website for the babysteps, daily focus and extra missions in the current zone. The habit of the month is shining your sink (or whatever other place in your home motivates you).

If you are just starting, Flylady recommends decluttering the weekly zone before doing the detailed cleaning and not to do too much at once!

All are welcome, so feel free to join us anytime.

:o

Yay Stressy you've done sooo well. Really sorry about the bad news though. :(

Busy day tomorrow. Going to try a BBC Live Lesson (primary school science thing aired at 11am online, I really hope we have time to watch it), got to get ready for a learning group thing at a friend's house at 1.30 - need to gather books, card, glue etc and remember tap shoes as we go straight from there. Also must phone council in the morning to book a room (we're doing a home ed party celebrating world book day!) and phone DSD's letting agent to get some clarification on the form they've sent. And get the Caglets to put their clothes away - must get DH to stick the dryer on. DSS is popping round too and will be giving DH a lift to work which is nice, they'll be around longer. :)

CotswoldStrife · 31/01/2017 00:09

Some awesome work there today fledglings. I was feeling a bit ropey earlier on but much better this evening still having a hot toddy just in case though

I also worked on my kitchen today, living room/lounge tomorrow. Although may have to nip out on an unexpected errand.

It is already Tuesday so will post the links and head for bed (as I fell asleep again after DH left this morning Blush )

Spend 15 mins decluttering in Zone 5.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here

Good morning!

Right; it's 6am-ish here and I'm up organising prior to heading off and away for a while later this am.

Hope your back is feeling better today Afreshstart

Hope you recover quickly Cotswold; dh has now given me his cold so similar scenario here! (Puts pineapple, mango and pomegranate fruit salad on naughty corner bar for everyone to share)

DD is the only one who qualifies as remotely graceful in this household Cag ; I'm more of the rotund, stumbling clod-hopper type Grin Wink. The home edding you have planned for today sounds fab; hope it (and everything else ) goes well.

Impressive work on the assignment Toostressy. I'm very sorry to hear about your friend's dp.Sad

Cotswold and Toostressy for thread running Flowers Cake Halo

Tally-ho everyone!! Big fledgling wing flaps to one and all!

Afreshstartplease · 31/01/2017 06:39

My upper back feels proper mangled again. I don't know what I'm doing. I was up at 3am to see to baby and it was fine then!

Well done on the assignment stressy

Well I didn't touch the living room yesterday except for organising dds hair things which live in there. So it's like a bomb hit it.

My kitchen is pretty good though :

All the worktops are clear and clean
All pots are washed
Hob is clean
Table is clean
Bin isn't over flowing
I managed to rehome random crap that was in there
There are no piles of washing lying around

The kitchen is generally my worst room as everyone just dumps shit in there, so I am happy and hope I can stay on top of it today!

It still needs

Mopping
Cooker hood cleaning
Cupboard doors cleaning

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 09:38

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 10:35

I have set up the February thread. We don't need to move over to it until tomorrow although I'll keep an eye on it today. Thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/housekeeping/2842283-Fledglings-flapping-and-flying-in-February-the-Flylady-thread?

Afreshstartplease · 31/01/2017 11:37

Well done stressy!

Well I had a hot bath but my back is still a bit sore

Lazy morning tbh, just getting baby to sleep then must crack on!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 11:45

Ta da:
Thread started
Laundry in progress
Booked car in
Tea planned - stew from freezer so frees up some space in there and relatively healthy for DDs. DD1 will not like it but will bribe her with promise of cake for pudding

To do:
Decluttering
House tidy
Dishwasher
Lunch
Exercise DVD - running out of time for this!

Cagliostro · 31/01/2017 12:51

Thanks Stressy will pop over there later.

I forgot to charge my phone earlier but I'm on a new bus with USB charge points on every seat! How awesome :o

Phone calls made, live science lesson done (turns out I can register for teacher pack so I'll try that too for future ones) now on the way to friends' house for learning group armed with Viking stuff and board games for after!

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2017 12:53

I've just realised, it's still January! The new thread made me think it was Feb. Blush

CotswoldStrife · 31/01/2017 13:19

We are in the last throes of January though! Where did the first month go to?!

I will nip out in a bit on an errand, but I had the bright idea of finishing off tonight by namechecking everyone who has posted on the thread this month. Having just checked the names, there are 70 different contributors (not including myself) Shock May rethink that plan ...

I've had a fab time on the thread this month, everyone has been great and so supportive when posters have gone through some tough life events on here. Looking forward to February now, get some serious work done before the half-term kicks in and it all goes downhill again Grin

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2017 13:21

We've done an excellent job of filling it too. I'm feeling proud my tax return was done (just!) before the deadline day since it isn't February yet.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 13:39

I know Purple, sorry Grin. Wasn't too sure how long it would take me to set up as I am not the best with technology so thought I'd better get it done.

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2017 13:40

Honestly, no worries at all. It was me being slow. My "d" h used the last of the milk this morning so I haven't had a cup of tea. I'm on go slow without my cuppa!

Afreshstartplease · 31/01/2017 13:41

70! If I had to guess I would have said under 20 lol

I am on a proper go slow today not helped by ds's lack of napping!

Afreshstartplease · 31/01/2017 13:42

Haha go slow cross post purple

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2017 13:42

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 31/01/2017 15:03

Day two of new cleaning job done today, I think
I'm getting better at it now. Although back is particularly painful. My new bujo came today so I'll be playing with that this evening. I got fed up with the arc system, its just too bulky.
Ds2 still has a few points to earn before Friday so I'm sure he will be getting on with that tonight, and I also think he's learned to be more friendly in the mornings, all 3 of them were an absolute delight < very very rare.

foxessocks · 31/01/2017 15:18

I haven't done a thing yet today, been out all day and now feeding the baby. Dh is unloading dishwasher and sorting laundry. I'm going to make a start shortly. We've only just hoovered the living room so don't think I'll do the mission although probably oculd do with hoovering under sofas etc...I might make a note to do that at the weekend (or make dh do it at the weekend anyway Grin)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 19:34

Scuttl, yay for happy mornings!

Ta da:-
Exercise DVD
Fair bit of laundry done
Started before bed routine

To do:-
Get DDs to sleep
5 mins decluttering
Laundry
Dishwasher
Find some numbers for local plumbers - need someone to look at a tap and the man I rang today is booked up for the next 5 months Shock.
