Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Ok here goes for a practice...

Baby step number 1 is shine your sink. We don't all do this on here. I translate this to having a relatively tidy kitchen to come down to in the morning. I found trying to keep shining my sink impossible and I felt like I was starting the day failing every time. Not good! Do what works for you.

The daily focus for Wednesday is: anti-procrastination

Baby-step no 1 - [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/]

I'll put up the monthly habit for February when the website changes.

Happy flying everyone.

CotswoldStrife · 31/01/2017 10:57

Woo hoo! Hoping February is fantastic for everyone!

My main kitchen sink is not a shiny kind of sink (cream composite), I do have a metal sink that shines in the utility but I do miss the shiny sink. I'm going to clean the cream one later, I've found the thing that cleans it best is soaking it in hot water and the kind of Vanish that you put in the washing machine - oxygen bleach, I suppose.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 11:12

Trying again with the babystep 1! The daily focus for Wednesday is: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/

Oh for goodness sake, that link above is for the first baby step which is shining your sink Smile

Just realised I also spelt your name wrong, sorry Cotswold. Going well so far Grin.

Checking in! Thanks for taking over the thread toostressy. I forgot to reset the alarm when dh went to work so I've had an accidental lie in. It was very nice!

So far the dishwasher and washing machine are on.

Today's plan is to concentrate on decluttering. I also need to meal plan and food shop for the rest of the week.

Afreshstartplease · 31/01/2017 11:38

Ty for the thread stressy Star

CotswoldStrife · 31/01/2017 12:16

I didn't even notice Blush You can see why I didn't even notice that one of my own links didn't work ...

scattyspice · 31/01/2017 14:02

Hi I would love to join in. Used to be on flylady threads years ago but fell off. I work in NHS 3-5 days/wk and have a DS 13 and a DD 11 (and a dh 52 ha ha ). Had a little lurk for a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of it. Ready to start tomorrow Smile. Thanks for having me.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 31/01/2017 14:05

Thank you, I don't post often now but am still following the threads.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 16:36

Thanks Cotswold and thanks toostressy and hooray for February at last! Is it too much to hope for some spring weather now?! Maybe not quite yet.

so porch and dining area from tomorrow then. My porch definitely needs sorting , got bags of stuff for charity shop and jumble sale, I need so sort them out. Vents though?! I'm not sure I've ever cleaned any vents??

Ta das
Decluttered DD toy box in the living room (she saw me about to throw some plastic tat out and took it back though Angry stupid plastic ducks free from a comic survive another day!) Got rid of a stack of comics though.
Daily routine all done
Dinner started

Have informed dh that this weekend we are hoovering under chairs, tables and wet vaxing the living room. His suggestion was to go out for lunch while the carpet dries , quite like his thought process!

To do
Eat dinner and clear up after dinner
Get children to bed
Do pilates DVD (totally failed in this last few days as ds being a pickle at bedtime. As he is only 5 months old I will forgive him).

Emeralda · 31/01/2017 19:38

Checking in for February! It was no fly January for me - grounded due to constant visitors. Thanks for the new thread, and the old one - I learned a lot by lurking. Here's hoping for a bit of progress before the Spring sunshine starts to show up the dust, and here's hoping for fewer germs, bugs and colds too.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 19:54

Good to have you with us Emeralda. foxes, I like your DH's thought process too :)

Hi again everyone, been following this since January and being inspired. Am glad this month's habit is decluttering, I would like to focus on this again. Been experiencing 'clutter creep' recently. Am going to start with my cookery books. 5 minutes seems more attainable than 15 right now.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2017 21:13

Hi instant, can definitely relate to clutter creep. Will have to remember that phrase! I know it's not the Flylady system but I find I can usually manage 5 mins (sometimes more) decluttering even on busy days in fits and starts.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/02/2017 06:21

Morning all, I'm working today, will check in later. Happy flying!
