Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread

Star HAPPY NEW YEAR Star

Welcome to the January Flylady thread, where we try and maintain our nests in good order by following the Flylady method. We'll post links each day to the Flylady website for the babysteps, daily focus and extra missions in the current zone. The habit of the month is shining your sink (or whatever other place in your home motivates you).

If you are just starting, Flylady recommends decluttering the weekly zone before doing the detailed cleaning and not to do too much at once!

All are welcome, so feel free to join us anytime.

I'm getting in early, I really need somextra discipline and inspiration! Today I have hoovered throughout, cleaned bathroom and done several loads of washing. One put away, one in dryer, one waiting to go in dryer. Yesterday I changed all 3 beds. Most I've done since Christmas eve though!

Welcome to all newbies Smile. This is a lovely thread which has really helped me get better at flying (still nowhere near there though!).

Ta da:-
Done a bit more on essay
DH putting DD2 to bed - she was naughty at teatime and am really hoping her behaviour improves as she gets nearer to 4.
We've all eaten
Some laundry and dishwashing done
Decluttered a bag of clothes and an old changing from DD2's room so have freed up some space.

To do:-
DD1 bath and bedtime. We had planned maybe to keep them up a bit later and have a little party but DD2 too badly behaved Sad and actually, since we are seeing lovely friends earlyish tomorrow morning probably best to just do normal bedtime.
More laundry
Finish dishes from dinner
Before bed routine - have started this
Hopefully get DH to read what I've done for essay to get another opinion on it.

Have some kind of nye night in - rock and roll here!!!

Hi can I join in (again)? Keep falling off the wagon but hoping to stick to this (mostly). DP and I are both in f/t jobs for the first time in 8 years (one of us has always been part time until now) so we need routines in place.

Ta-da (between DP and I):
Cleaned and hoovered bedrooms
Cleaned bathroom
2 loads of washing
Load of (yesterday's) washing folded and put away

To-do
Set up YNAB tonight for fresh start tomorrow
Write new year's resolutions

I'm going to give this a go too, thanks for the thread. Have looked at flylady in the past but couldn't be bothered to read it all. I hereby exclude teenagers rooms...they can do their own !

I'm in.

House is a tip, I'm getting over my second bout of a sickness bug in a month and my Hogmanay good intentions didn't amount to much due to aforementioned sickness bug.

NY Day seems a perfect day to get going.

Hi can i join please? I'm completely new to fly lady. Really want to get my shit tip of a house sorted now though. I struggle a lot with energy and motivation and can find cleaning/tidying overwhelming (especially with 2 DC and and a DH messing things up faster than i can tidy). From the little I know of fly lady though, it sounds ideal and just the thing I need to get motivated and start building habits Smile

May I join in too? My house is just so cluttered and just never seems clean enough. Need to start and keep cleaning habits.

Will be starting properly on Tuesday as well today is family day and I'm working tomorrow.

freshstart I have a theory that the new years superstitions were created when cleaning/washing took soooooo much longer to do (pre washing machines, pre hoover etc) so the mammies of the world united in order to give themselves a well earned day off Grin.

I started the shiny sink thing yesterday.. washed and dried all plates etc this morning and feel so much better it's crazy.. now need to pick a spot ( there are plenty) to do a 15 min declutter... I am also going to try and through in some Kondo style reducing of stuff

I've already put a load of washing in, so be afraid!

Welcome to 2017 fledglings! Good to have everybody on board - don't worry if you miss a few days, just jump back in (to life and the thread) where you are.

I will be away tonight and tomorrow night, so will post the links but won't be able to check the thread much (although the hotel assures me of wifi on the website). Look after yourselves while I'm gone Grin

The house is in a fairly dire state, I have another load of presents to drop off with family and we'll be bringing some back so I'm not expecting it will look significantly better for a few days yet! Gives me something to work on.

Today - packing, taking all the right presents, travelling. Tomorrow - visiting, present exchanging

I really need to join, was full of new year enthusiasm until I got to shine your sink and counted up... There are 12 ffs 😦

I should add to remove the stealth boast that we are building a house so some are used and full of clutter and next doors are covered in layers of building dust and look grim.

I am also happily joining this thread. I've promised myself that this year I will get our house decluttered, tidy and clean.

It's been a tough year in 2016 with a new baby, moving, family death and dramas and all sorts. This year I'm back to work and want to feel this are back in good order.

Thanks you for this thread :)

Morning all and happy new year!

Having a lazy day at home today. Everywhere seems shut today so nothing to do with ds. We have already been down the park to feed the ducks but running out of ideas of what else to do to keep him entertained. Think it will have to be a sofa/dvd day.

Ta da

washed dishes
made beds
bleached the loo upstairs
emptied kitchen bin
