Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread

Star HAPPY NEW YEAR Star

Welcome to the January Flylady thread, where we try and maintain our nests in good order by following the Flylady method. We'll post links each day to the Flylady website for the babysteps, daily focus and extra missions in the current zone. The habit of the month is shining your sink (or whatever other place in your home motivates you).

If you are just starting, Flylady recommends decluttering the weekly zone before doing the detailed cleaning and not to do too much at once!

All are welcome, so feel free to join us anytime.

Fudge geography club is something a friend set up, a group of us meet in a hall once a month and there's a specific country chosen in advance. The kids do projects before the meeting and then present them to their friends - craft, posters etc. Then they do table activities and food tasting afterwards. It's fab :) :)

PurpleDaisies · 25/01/2017 22:39

Sweepingchange · 25/01/2017 22:56

Yet another bad nights sleep here, draining Sad

foxessocks · 26/01/2017 07:03

afresh I'm with you! We have had two weeks of really bad sleep now. Am i right in thinking your baby is the same age? I'm exhausted! Brew for you

Afreshstartplease · 26/01/2017 08:06

Baby is 14 weeks, I think yours is a couple of weeks older? I wonder if this is the start of "4 month sleep regression"?

I don't actually remember my oldest two going through it, and DC3 was just shit at sleep full stop, she has only recently stopped waking 2/3 nights per week and she's not far off 4

Ty for the Brew make sure you have one too!

Sweepingchange · 26/01/2017 08:11

Hot strong coffee for everyone.

Not half as relentless as continuous broken sleep from caring for a baby, but throwing my hat in to the ring of the sleep deprived this morning (although it's hot flushes that are doing me in ATM and fitful sleep with wierd disturbed dreams).

Furry one does not like it when I open the bedroom window at 4am to breathe in gulps of icy air Grin

Hey ho, enough whinging, must get cracking ...

Have a good day everyone!

foxessocks · 26/01/2017 09:42

afresh my ds is 20 weeks (I think!!!) Nearly 5 months anyway. I'm pretty sure it's sleep regression here as he was doing well sleep wise before but last few weeks have been brutal. My dd was an average sleeper and I'm pretty sure she did have a couple of regressions but can't remember it too clearly!

I had a coffee , dropped DD at nursery and am just trying to put ds down for a nap so we'll see how that goes.

SC all sleeplessness is hard so Brew for you too

Afreshstartplease · 26/01/2017 09:51

Ah you are 6 weeks infront of us then foxes I must say I hope our bad sleep doesn't continue for 6 weeks I may go insane

Confused loving gorgeous Fred! We have Flo who's 8 but she thinks she's 8 months. Completely bonkers and totally mute - she's never made a sound her whole life, except for when she's sleeping sometimes when she howls like a Baskerville hound. Chills me to the core!

Hoping for a very low spend day today, down to our last £35 until Monday, but Im going to make the winter hotpot someone linked to up thread, have everything apart from the beef mince.

We're with Scottish Power - I'm going to ring about a smart meter today. Think it would really help if they could all see what is being spent.

I'll leave you with a pic of my gorgeous Flo!

That's OK, it's a nice picture Grin

I have been out all day herding helping on a school trip. Children really enjoyed it but I need some caffeine and possibly wine later before I can take things in. Luckily, the usual after-school thing has been cancelled Grin although DD had decided not to go anyway!

Just checking in. Give up on to do lists at present. Drowning in work for assignment Sad. Also feeling the need for lots of Brew at the moment as studying every night to get it all done.

Adding more Brew for everyone. Thanks for links Cotswold. Aiming to come on here and have a practice at links etc in a few days.

CotswoldStrife · 26/01/2017 22:15

Have only just emailed you what I used for the links, but look at them when you are ready Stressy. If life gets in the way just let me know Flowers

I am now on the wine. DD is developing a bad cold although she claims it is not a cold because she doesn't have a cough Hmm The sniffles and a runny nose do not meet her criteria. We'll see how she is tomorrow.

No flying done today, although have done the washing up after tea. Will swap beds with DD tonight and enjoy my wine lounging in her bed losing at games on my tablet Grin

Will catch up with the thread tomorrow (did anyone get a sense of deja vu there, not the first time I've said that ...)

Links next!

Waves to Rshard Foxes Cag Zoo Afreshstart Purple Comeagain and everyone else I've missed!

Disappointed with myself this week, usually able to get more done with dh away, and am used to him travelling, but am counting the hours until he gets back tonight. (I swear parenting has not been this demanding since DD was a baby; and she was a relatively easy baby tbh). We've had meltdowns virtually every evening this week and it's so ruddy draining ( for her too I am sure.). Flying wise, have just maintained, doing the minimum, CBA to do more. So, no progress made. No decluttering. Just lots of cooking though for us and ailing friend. Need to seriously up my game next month on all fronts!

Sweepingchange · 27/01/2017 05:48

Argh, meant to add, have a good weekend everyone!

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/01/2017 06:49

Oooh and welcome neenook

foxessocks · 27/01/2017 07:34

Sorry to hear about the meltdowns SC and zoo sounds like difficult weeks for you both, hope your weekends are more relaxing?!

I managed to hoover downstairs yesterday but didn't do any bedroom decluttering. I see the task is to flip mattress etc today, we have done that recently and I'm not changing my bed sheets unnecessarily so just going to aim for decluttering again!

Ds only woke up once last night - I can't actually believe it! He was awake for just over an hour but still a huge improvement. I expect it's a fluke but at least I've finally had some decent sleep. So no excuses today then...
