As the original thread is reaching its limits I’ve started a new one for those still wanting advice/support on this crazy journey.

Any news at all from Central for anyone?

Congratulations to all DC with offers, good luck to those waiting to hear. My DC applied for acting BA at Mountview, offered foundation (well the CertHE as now called) - was excited but then got email yesterday saying not at London site but new site in Essex - v disappointed. Was going to take offer (assumed London) and defer her BA Hons at other (less prestige school) offer for a year. So she gets to go to her ‘dream school’ as she calls it, whilst having back up of confirmed place at none favourite for next year. (Not sure my nerves could cope with repeat of last few months!) Dilemma now the Mountview foundation is not as it seemed…. Does anyone know anything about these new sites for CertHEs? They offer a MT one as well.

Sorry your DC didn't get what she was hoping for from Mountview, I can see that's a difficult position. Not that we've got any real experience of it, but my DS cancelled his recall when it was made clear you had no choice about the location as our closest option and therefore quite likely allocation was Exeter, and it's hard to imagine getting the same experience as the main school. I just wanted to suggest she makes absolutely sure she could defer her BA offer before making a decision - it's unusual for drama schools to allow that (may be different for a BA at a 'normal' university) and most won't hold an offer for a year. My experience is that you do your Foundation then start again with auditions the following year. Best of luck!

We had a no through UCAS on Monday from a recall on 28/03. No direct email from Central yet. DS is fine, very happy to now accept his Arts Ed Foundation and go again next year 😄Hope you get good news soon

Gosh the wait to hear from places is really dragging on, i keep checking all the forums for updates and seems everyone is in the same boat. DD waiting to hear from 2nd round Royal Welsh still, 3rd rounds are supposed to be in 2 weeks time. And still awaiting RCS first round after 10weeks!! It’s torture.
Really hoping everyone starts to hear about all their awaited outcomes from today onwards 🙏🏻

Truetoself · 15/04/2026 10:40

@YourOliveCatso ultimately what’s on offer is not her dream place and very unlikely her dream training. So I think this should be taken out of consideration . What is the place that offered a BA?

Truetoself · 15/04/2026 10:41

@Reklatscommisserations and hope he enjoys ArsEd. The training will certainly be excellent

Thanks - what did your DC decide to pursue after not going for Mountview? Mine hadn’t applied for foundation just the BA, so only spotted that the Exeter and Essex sites were a thing when not offered on BA but CertHE. We live in London and they’ve been to productions at Mountview hence knowing and loving it (oh the perils of having a ‘dream school’ as they (DC and friends) call their fave choice. My DC has been told they will allow her to defer her BA place for a year. It’s a ucas place so they won’t be able to apply to any other ucas ones if they do defer route. I’m torn anyway on thinking that one year of applications/auditions (with more lows than highs tbh for DC) is more than enough- for the parents definitely! And that DC should just started on the 3 year degree journey…. It’s the lure to DC of a big name school compared to ‘lesser’ 🙄place.
But am conscious that if DC ever gets into the industry it will be worse so maybe a benefit to learn the resilience required for repeat auditions necessary sooner….. What about your DC?

No still waiting from recall on 14th March. Also still waiting from RB 3rd round on 26th March. It’s such a long drawn out process. My daughter just finally heard (with a no) from RCS from her audition on Jan 12th!

Thanks 🤞 it won't drag on too much longer. Sorry to hear news of a rejection but ArtsEd will be great!

It is complete torture! 10 weeks is so long...seems like everyone has waited a long time for RCS. Hope you hear something soon!

I can’t believe it was a No from RCS after all this time! What are they playing at leaving people that long, that is shocking! I’ll get my DD to keep an eye on UCAS too 😢 sorry to hear this 😢 I told my DD if she gets a rejection just to email them to ask what the process has been this year, if they’ve been on some sort of reserve list or something. Most people had straight rejections within the normal 3 week period.

It really is, although not as long as some others have waited. They really seem to be taking the longest out of everyone this year. My DD had two emails saying she was still being considered, but I just don’t know what is going on. So many had auditions after her and have went on to have their second round. I don’t know if they are grouping in casting types or something 🤔 so disappointing that people are receiving rejections after this length of time though x

He had recalls at Mountview (Foundation), Leeds, Conti and Central, but cancelled all except Central when he got the Arts Ed offer. He absolutely loved his recall day at Arts Ed and decided he'd take that over degree at any of the others except Central, and even then over the Devised degree there. He's set his sights quite high and seems to be fine with auditioning again and hopefully getting a degree offer from one of the top tier places next year, but no guarantees, obviously. If it's any help, my daughter is about to gradute an MT degree and is with people who did Arts Ed and Mountview Foundations who say they are still asked about them and feel they are still opening doors for them, albeit the Mountview Foundation has grown since then. If I'm honest, apart from the cost, I like the idea of my DS doing a Foundation and having a bit more time to grow up and get used to the demands of a degree, but that's just him! 🙄 I'm hoping that being a parent of DCs going through this is a bit like labour - the the memory of the pain fades so that you can bear to put yourself through it again! 😂😂😂

I know! I think keeping teenagers waiting so long before rejecting them is very shabby treatment. My DD had also emailed them to enquire what was happening and didn’t even get a reply.

RB just has to be this week! That's what they were 'hoping' as of last week anyway.....

Truetoself · 15/04/2026 14:28

@Reklatsgood choice then. I know Acting is much harder to get into than MT.

Does anyone know why?

Bargainhunterliz · 15/04/2026 15:04

My son had an email today to advise that he's come off the waitlist and now offered a BA Acting place at East 15, he had a Cert HE offer which he wasn't too keen to do. He's also not really been chomping at the bit for this offer to come in as it isn't his top choice (Rose Bruford is) but I'm pleased that there is something on the table whilst we await this and we will discuss more later and down the line. Coming off this wait list actually came a lot quicker than I imagined actually (if it was to happen at all) as the audition was Feb half term.

Bargainhunterliz · 15/04/2026 15:11

Cont from above......On a very quick conversation he has stated he may prefer their Acting & Contemporary Theatre course but just applied for Acting, anyone got any insight? if we pursue I guess it doesn't hurt to enquire about.

They seem to prefer them to be a bit older for Acting, which makes sense, I guess, life experience and all that 🙂
