As the original thread is reaching its limits I’ve started a new one for those still wanting advice/support on this crazy journey.

Hi 👋 just wondering if anyone is still waiting to hear after their initial recall at Central?

We are but it was only yesterday as we were in the last batch so I'm guessing we have a potentially long wait!

Yes, still waiting here.

SparklyUmberExpert · 02/04/2026 21:52

For Rb I assume that early week
first offers come first and then next week first load of rejections and the rest of the offers . That’s how I imagine they are gonna do it . So I got a feeling early next week is when most will hear . But at the end of the day who knows it could be unpredictable.

Re-scholarships. Worth talking to the schools you are interested in at an open day as some like to offer partial scholarships to lots of people and some will offer specific full / half scholarships to individuals. Some have scholarship auditions you can apply to attend (some have criteria) and some invite you back for a scholarship audition. What has been common is how much funding may be out there in your community if you look for it, businesses offer grants and funding for the arts you just need to be pretty good at finding them.
We went to open days from 15 years old - it really helped give us time to consider lots of options without the pressure and get up to speed on all the various routes available.

Thanks so much! Great advice. Hadn't even thought about funding/grant possibilities. My spreadsheet is ever increasing 😂

Not sure we can assume anything when we aren't in the know of their process. Just have to keep waiting and continue to have hope.

Which school is this regarding?

Truetoself · 03/04/2026 17:14

Just thinking out loud again - I know a couple of YP who have already had roles in major West End productions albeit when they were younger. The ones i know of do not seem to have lost their abilities. Yet they are not the ones getting multiple offers from Musical theater schools. If they are good enough to have been where undergraduates are aspiring to be ……. Why are they not chosen to do the BA?

Well sometimes a child is just 'right' for a particular role and is obviously very talented but may not have the all-round skills needed for the degree. I know of ex-Matildas, Jane Bankses etc who have done Foundations because they didn't have the level of dance needed by some of the top schools - neither role requires a huge amount of dance.

Biscuitsneeded · 03/04/2026 17:55

Also I guess when casting for child roles the field is very much just children from stage schools and agencies and a few with parents who are clued up. There will be hundreds or thousands of other equally talented kids working hard in their dance, singing and acting classes around the country who never go to those auditions. But when it comes for auditioning for post-18 it all goes on what they do on the day in the audition room, and some of those who nobody has heard of might blow the panel away. So the child actors haven't lost their skills but there is just a lot more competition.

EclecticRajistani · 03/04/2026 19:02

@Bargainhunterliz LIPA

Truetoself · 03/04/2026 21:07

@Biscuitsneededit is such a subjective industry and so dependent on the panel on the day. The two i know are deffo triple threats. But you are absolutely right about the competition. Not sure if anyone has seen any clips from West End Calling - the talent on there is insane!

Mumager26 · 04/04/2026 12:59

Yes my DD heard from central yesterday. Her initial recall was 7th March. She has been invited to final recall for BA Acting Musical Theatre on 9th April. Her friend only did her second round on 28th March and has also been invited for final recall for MT and Classical and Contemporary. Good luck to everyone

Funallround · 04/04/2026 13:25

We know a couple of people who have made it through in the West end calling this year - all incredible.

Funallround · 04/04/2026 13:28

But totally agree, one we know gave up dance and if they'd like to do west end (rather than going the music route) when they are older probably need it to some degree.
But it's so hard as really if you don't love the dance element you should be able to carve a path without it and the choices you make as a child should really not have that big an impact (in a perfect world).

sometimes, it is also about whether they can be taught any more - if a school sees someone less refined but who can show they want to learn and comes across as teachable, then they may be offered before someone who is more accomplished but doesn't have as much to learn, or who doesn't take as well to being guided/directed etc

Truetoself · 04/04/2026 18:13

@theatrekidmumI am unsure if the auditions are detailed enough to find out all this information- especially those schools who audition a large group at the same time.

FabulousFreshias · 04/04/2026 18:27

Does anyone have any experience of Preston College Dance BA?

I think they can sometimes tell who is teachable and who thinks they know everything already in an audition. That is some of what the workshop element is for. They don’t want arrogant people who think they know it all already. They also need people who will be receptive to their teaching style - they can figure some of that out on audition day.

ETA - I am not saying that all people who have already had professional work are arrogant or think they know everything.

DontStopBeleafing · 06/04/2026 07:55

Can anyone share any info about Trinity Laban ba mt? E.g. cohort size, class size, is dance streamed, is there weekly 1:1 singing for whole degree, do they have individual singing rep sessions, general vibe, is it dance heavy or light, is there enough accommodation for first years?

DD missed the in person audition due to illness hence the questions! Thanks in advance.

Haven't heard yet from a recall on 28th March. Hope you get good news 🙂

On another forum some people who attended 28/29/30th have invited to 3rd round on 8/9/10th April so that’s quite soon. We were the 1st but nothing as yet

Truetoself · 06/04/2026 10:26

@DontStopBeleafingI don’t know the school but I am sure this info will be available in the brochure?

JoJoDrama · 06/04/2026 13:00

@DontStopBeleafingtotal cohort is 50 which is split into 2classes of 25 . Dance is streamed ( jazz, ballet and tap) . 1-2-1 singing lessons every week . Teaching is excellent. Accommodation is at Mcmillan student village ( you need to apply on the set day as is given on a 1st come basis) it’s expensive but so is everywhere in London! My son on foundation there and it has been superb , he has offer of BA for September. Vibe is brilliant. TL has an brilliant reputation for dance too so is opportunity to do extra dance classes.
