As the original thread is reaching its limits I’ve started a new one for those still wanting advice/support on this crazy journey.

Hi all!

Thanks for setting up the continuation thread. I hope the other regular posters will hop across.

NervesAreShot · 01/04/2026 23:22

Hi everyone- checking in to continue living the dream 🤪

NervesAreShot · 01/04/2026 23:26

Remind me where everyone is up to in the process?

Truetoself · 02/04/2026 07:59

I believe we have finished the process. If one choice is via UCAS and the other not, how do you firm and insure like you do if both were UCAS?

JustDramaMumThings · 02/04/2026 10:39

Thanks for creating this new thread! Hoping by the end of this everyone's YP have some nice offers on the table :)

Thanks for setting up this continued lifeline!
Today I'm wondering if anyone make any sense of why so many of us are waiting on Rose Bruford 3rd round responses for Acting courses when some many know already from earlier this week........Now what I will say is that their whole way of doing things there is generally very thoughtful to those who apply and putting them first but to potentially not know by the end of today (with going into the bank hols) just feels confusing and obviously stressful! Fortunately we were at Royal Central yesterday for 2nd round so that kept us occupied but now we go back into the wait time and wondering.

Thisismyquest · 02/04/2026 11:18

Hi everyone. This is such a godsend to have so much information for us newbies. Thank you!
We are not yet applying as my son is only 15 but I'm wondering what the process is/who is eligible for scholarships for some of the main non-ucas MT schools. My DS would love to apply for Mountview/ArtsEd in a couple of years but thinking it may be beyond our budget. What exactly does a scholarship mean? It is money off the total fee... Thanks all.

Paddlinglikehell · 02/04/2026 11:45

Someone asked about Uni of Surrey accom. (GSA). This is a Band E room at Manor Park, which is a 15 min walk from main campus.

This is the same Band at Stag Hill, the campus where GSA is. This is older accommodation, but still good. Both have en-suite shower room.

Welcome and sending you a lot of strength for when it’s your turn!

Scholarships can be ‘full’ or ‘part’, usually awarded to someone with exceptional talent. A friend of my daughter’s got a full Arts Ed scholarship, so they didn’t have to pay any fees at all, but then he’s come out and gone straight onto the West End which says their investment was worth it!

They will tell you when getting an offer whether it’s going to be a scholarship or not, there are also funds that some colleges have that you can apply for if you are on a low income etc. and these are normally on their websites to give you an idea of what’s available to you.

You can also apply for a DaDa to help with fees for certain private schools. A quick google takes you to the .gov site.

WishITookLifeSeriously · 02/04/2026 11:57

Please could someone clarify how many weeks a year we pay for accommodation? Is it the same for all colleges or does it vary?

Perhaps they are waiting for any early Nos before they make more offers? Hopefully not long to wait

Thanks so much for your help. It's a bit of a minefield isn't it, but a blessing to have this group with so much knowledge able to be shared.
Start of a long journey that's for sure! Thanks again

My dd’s is from start of term September, to June, around the 7th I think.

However, she’s moving to a rented house share with friends next September, but her contract starts July.

It varies from college to college, a lot don’t have their own accommodation, but recommend halls, or private student accommodation nearby.

Same position here, hoping to hear before the Easter break…

Re-scholarships. Worth talking to the schools you are interested in at an open day as some like to offer partial scholarships to lots of people and some will offer specific full / half scholarships to individuals. Some have scholarship auditions you can apply to attend (some have criteria) and some invite you back for a scholarship audition. What has been common is how much funding may be out there in your community if you look for it, businesses offer grants and funding for the arts you just need to be pretty good at finding them.
We went to open days from 15 years old - it really helped give us time to consider lots of options without the pressure and get up to speed on all the various routes available.

Who knows! it would be great to have some theories on it all! Clearly though we are going into the long weekend not knowing so we just have to adapt to that. Maybe this is like another audition he did there where no expectations were set and it was 3 weeks.......

It works differently outside of UCAS. Is the UCAS your 1st choice or insurance? Are either asking for a holding deposit?

It is not the same every where Conti you need a the longer 46/48 week contract as they start really early Sept and end really late in July.
But DD’s friend who was at Trinity could have much shorter as they started late Sept and ended in June.
Every where should have next years term dates on their websites.

UCAS both firm and insurance but insurance also private. We have already paid a deposit. I think we will need to withdraw as otherwise will be liable for 1st term’s fees after July.
