Offers for 2025

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

I know someone who was rejected from LSE on Christmas Eve last year.

What a great Christmas present 🙄

nutsandraisinsrock · 17/12/2024 06:22

@FloralGums what subject was the St Andrews offer for if you don't mind me asking? DD has applied there, wasn't expecting to hear for some time. Well done to your DC!

HebeJeeby · 17/12/2024 07:54

@WhatTheKey sorry to hear about Sheffield, it’s disheartening to get a rejection but more so when it’s the first one. I’m sure your son will get an offer/s from elsewhere, especially if he has his grades in hand.

thepurplepenguin · 17/12/2024 16:06

DD got an offer from Surrey today, it's currently her top choice so she's absolutely chuffed 🙂 They have given her an alternative offer which is the same UCAS points as the standard offer but reflects her slightly spiky predicted grades, which is amazing. Can relax now and view any more offers before Christmas as a bonus (hopefully no Christmas eve rejections though 😱)

HebeJeeby · 17/12/2024 16:24

DD has got an offer from York today her favourite choice so she is over the moon. It’s their standard offer for the course. Just waiting to hear from Surrey.

thepurplepenguin · 17/12/2024 17:21

Just had an offer from Reading as well, busy day! Still waiting on Nottingham and Exeter, but they're her aspirational choices so not expecting a response until closer to or after the UCAS deadline.

SingingAvocado · 17/12/2024 17:43

Our tally is currently offers from Southampton (ABB), Oxford Brookes (BBB), Nottingham (AAB) and Manchester (AAB – came through Friday night). And 'on hold' for York. For midwifery and all involved interviews. DD will probably withdraw from York early in the New Year if she hasn’t heard from them and Firm with Southampton and put Oxford Brookes as her Insurance. She absolutely loves Southampton – just hope she gets the grades ok.

LighthouseCat · 17/12/2024 19:50

Only one offer in so far: Manchester (MMath A*AA). Has anyone heard from Birmingham for maths? DD feeling a bit nervous she's only had one offer so far.

Temporaryanonymity · 17/12/2024 21:49

I work in a university. Academic staff like me have finished teaching but we soldier on with marking. We close completely on Friday, and we are closed until 2nd January. I imagine it’s the same in most universities. Most of us come back on the 6th.

PhotoDad · 18/12/2024 02:45

Durham STEM offer came in yesterday for DS (deferred entry), which was earlier than expected and a nice pre-Christmas treat!

HebeJeeby · 19/12/2024 08:47

DD heard from Surrey yesterday, they have offered her a place on both of the courses she has applied for - BBB. So we have a full house, DD is over the moon. So we have York - AAA, Surrey - BBB and Essex - CCC. I think she will go for York as first choice and Surrey as her insurance but she’ll defer a decision until after her mocks in Feb. Just needs to pass her exams now!

hornetgirl · 19/12/2024 13:20

my daughter has 4 offers for vent nursing/biovet science,
Hartpury, Bristol, Notting Trent and Chester.

We are waiting to hear from RVC Hatfield - but they don't interview until February!

Congratulations @HebeJeeby
Is it for English Lit? I know Surrey is asking for less than York, but I just wanted to say the English dept at Essex is strong (as it the Creative Writing dept). and its a lovely, leafy campus, if you've not seen it yet.

HebeJeeby · 19/12/2024 16:16

@OhFredisFat hi, yes it is for English Lit. Essex was the first open day we went to and it set the bar for us, as we loved it. DD came away from it so enthused. I don’t hear a lot about it on MN which is a shame as we thought it was amazing. We much preferred it to Loughborough and Lancaster. The only thing against it is the distance from us. Surrey is a similar drive but we have family 10
minutes from the Uni, so that just edges it into 2nd place. Having said that DD hasn’t fully made her mind up yet and the accommodation at Essex was far superior to that at Surrey which I know is playing on her mind, so you never know….

OhFredisFat · 19/12/2024 17:00

@HebeJeeby Ah that's good to hear. I did English lit at York, which was excellent. I was accepted to Essex while living in London, to do a PhD part time in my 30s (one day a week) but had a job change from a quiet office that would accommodate me working 4 days in the office, to a very busy one with long hours, and didn't take it up in the end. Its not RG and hasn't reached the same reputation as UEA which is near-ish, for a lot of courses but I think its definitely one to keep in mind. Up to your kid tho, obviously!

I’ve been to bothe York and SUrrey for English - though 30year gap between them. Loved living in York as an undergrad and the English dept was - and still is excellent. We know several of my DD’s school mates there and loving it. Did an MA in Creative writing at Surrey - the CW department was quite small, but my peers were all recent English Lit grads and spoke really highly of their degree, which included great contemporary options in writing for gaming, novel to film adaptations, and the tutor for Kid lit was amazing.

Not very evident that I studied English from that last post due to typos 🤦🏽‍♀️

DS has had offers from Queen’s Belfast, Exeter and Sheffield this week. Busy week!

Universalism · 20/12/2024 15:11

DS applied for philosophy and has offers from Edinburgh (standard grade offer) and Lancaster (lower offer than standard grades if he firms as first choice), and interviewed at Cambridge last week. He's still waiting on Durham and Exeter. Not expecting a response from Durham any time soon based on previous experiences, but had hoped to have heard from Exeter by now.

nutsandraisinsrock · 20/12/2024 16:06

DD had an offer for Durham yesterday- surprised to see so early (MFL if that makes any difference)

RealScroller · 20/12/2024 16:34

Admissions staff member here 🙂 It will vary between universities, but it's highly unlikely that any admissions teams will have finished any earlier than today, and most will work until the 23rd/24th December. Some will also work between Christmas and New Year, or will be back on the 3rd Jan.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/12/2024 16:38

DD submitted her form on the 5th December, got 4 offers on the 6th and the final one on the 10th. I was amazed it all happened so quickly.

Wow! That’s very quick! I suspect we will be waiting to the NY now as my DD’s not had confirmation that her tutor has uploaded the reference yet.

Well done your DD though. She must have been delighted/ relieved/ excited/ daunted?

Relieved for a few days then her school report came out and she's not quite achieved her predicted grades in her recent mocks so back to nervous mode!

Plenty of time to make up those grades… and hopefully her insurance offer acts as a safety net? 🤞
