Offers for 2025

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

Mine also got Grey. Not one of his top choices and didn’t look around but reports online say it’s sporty and sociable and convenient location!

Dery · 25/05/2025 23:23

@ontheturn - elder DD loves Edinburgh as do her friends who are there.

She will be away in her 3rd year (language year abroad) so I’m not sure if she will feel the cuts when she gets back but certainly she has been pleased with the teaching and everything in her first 2 years.

MillicentFaucet · 09/06/2025 10:34

Ooh DS has received his accommodation preference form from Durham, anyone else?
Hopefully filling it in will stop him fretting about his performance in the Physics paper 2 he's sitting at the moment 😁

RayonSunrise · 09/06/2025 12:36

Yes, DD has hers too. To share a bathroom or not, that’s the question!

MillicentFaucet · 09/06/2025 13:10

I know what I'd choose @RayonSunrise !
DS has ranked his Cuth's options as
Bailey - own room
Bailey - shared room
Parson's prison - ensuite
Parson's prison - shared bathroom

I think he'll be happy with any just as long as he doesn't get reallocated on results day

MollyButton · 09/06/2025 21:07

DD got her’s too, apart from Twin last I don’t know what she put. She’s feeling stressed so a bit uncommunicative

RayonSunrise · 10/06/2025 13:50

@MillicentFaucet After getting her 6th choice college DD has chosen the most common room type at Grey (single room, shared bathroom) in hopes of avoiding being allocated a shared room in the draw. Burned once, etc…

She’s now in a bit of a tizz about making her offer grades though. She’s researching accommodation at her insurance choice as she’s feeling she’s neglected it during the college allocation drama.

MillicentFaucet · 10/06/2025 15:12

@RayonSunrise what is her insurance?
DS won't need accommodation if he ends up at his (Newcastle) as it's so local he can bounce between home & my parents depending on his timetable.

Dery · 13/06/2025 02:55

DD hasn’t received her accommodation form yet. Apparently there are some problems and some haven’t come through. I’d really like her to be able to tick this off. She’s following up with Durham.

Hopefully she can get it sorted quickly,. I'm not sure why Durham couldn't do this either before or after A-levels, DC have enough to stress about!
Only two more exams to go here but DS came home very gloomy after maths paper 2 yesterday

Dery · 13/06/2025 10:48

Thanks, @MillicentFaucet !

2 years ago, one of my elder DD’s friends was inconsolable after one of her maths papers. She got an A*! So hopefully your DS has done better than he thinks!

Exams seem to be a bit of a mixed bag so far. Fingers crossed for everyone’s DCs getting what they need.

Dery · 16/06/2025 16:59

Just a quick update to say that DD has submitted her accommodation form for John Snow. That’s a relief.

My DS was very happy after Maths 1 and very gloomy after Maths 2. He has been revising for Maths 3 ever since! Most of his exams have been ok but if the social media consensus goes the other way to his experience, he freaks out and thinks he has misunderstood something. Oh roll on results day …

By the way re accommodation, both DS's firm and insurance do not open up options until 14 August.

RayonSunrise · 16/06/2025 19:56

Good news, @Dery- it’s good to have the admin completed!

@MillicentFaucet, DD’s insurance is Nottingham - so quite a different bit of the country. She finished her exams this morning and has been mainly horizontal ever since.

Changes17 · 16/06/2025 20:11

Congratulations too all whose DC have now finished - and all the best for future exams to everyone else! Three more in three days here and then it will all be done.

Same! 3 more in 3 days. Good luck all!

Dery · 16/06/2025 23:35

Thanks, @RayonSunrise!

All finished here for exams (last one was today). Good luck to those with exams still to do.

DS had his last one today, went "quite well" and he had enough time to go back & check everything.
To celebrate the end of exams we're firing up the 🍕 oven on Saturday, I don't think I have enough bowls for the mounds of dough required

Dery · 20/06/2025 07:15

@MillicentFaucet - enjoy your pizza celebrations! It does feel like a big relief to have the exams over. Have a great weekend!

RayonSunrise · 20/06/2025 08:36

Let the Leavers’ Balls begin! DD’s is tonight and her friends are all piling over to get ready this afternoon, so I’m looking forward to the red carpet fashion parade.

Madcats · 20/06/2025 17:22

I have a garden full of over-excited chemists (some of whom seem a little drunk- paper 3 was a bit meh, apparently, according to the aspiring medics). Whilst I am happy for them, DH finished work for the week a couple of hours ago and we HAD planned to spend the rest of the afternoon sat outside, in peace and quiet, reading......

Hersetta427 · 26/06/2025 10:08

I have barely seen my DD. Last exam was last wednesday, the following day she left for a four day GB selection camp - she made the team ! Back home Sunday evening and then Tuesday left on a 3 week trip with GB for preparation games before going to the U18 European championships - she's not back until July 14th !

Changes17 · 26/06/2025 10:54

That sounds like a great way to spend the next few weeks @Hersetta427 . Congratulations to your DD.

DS has now had his prom and doesn't have much in the way of plans for the summer. Always said he was too focused on his exams to organise anything. I think a week of chilling is fine - but weeks on end, not so much.

Thank you - it will certainly keep her busy.

Dery · 26/06/2025 23:03

Congratulations @Hersetta427 - that’s very exciting. DD has various holiday plans including a spot of interrailing in August.
