Offers for 2025

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

Congrats on your offers! Any offers that DD gets are subject to an interview (midwifery). She had her first interview last week for her favourite and we are anxiously waiting to hear the verdict (they said she would hear in 1-2 weeks), has another scheduled for the end of this month and the other three unis haven't offered her an interview as yet although all have acknowledged the application. It does test your nerves, all of this!

@ontheturn That is fast, congratulations to your child. I have two applying this year, from overseas, both with adequate qualifications (A levels equivalents) in hand. DC 1 has had offers from Edinburgh, Bristol, York and Warwick. DC 2 so far has had 1 offer from York and is waiting on Bristol, Bath, Edinburgh and Oxford. But DC 2 also had quite a bit of communication from Bristol and Edinburgh asking for certificates, school grade reports, confirmation that they are taking a few further exams this year (they are) things like that. Nothing from Bath at all not since the acknowledgment letter back in Sept. Oxford obviously has its own process and schedule.

RoddyJaneandFreddy · 05/11/2024 15:24

@SingingAvocado Come back and let us know when she hears? And fingers crossed for her.

hennybeans · 05/11/2024 15:48

Ds had an offer from York in early October. He's still waiting for Oxford, UCL, Bristol ( "on hold"), and Imperial.

Getting the quick offer from York has just taken the edge off. He said, "That's it! I'm definitely going to uni then!". Bless him.

ontheturn · 05/11/2024 15:58

Thanks for replying!
good look on the midwifery. That's such a worthwhile degree. @SingingAvocado
@RoddyJaneandFreddy i find the silence from Edinburgh disconcerting as others local to us in the same subject have heard back...
@hennybeans yes. The first offer was such a relief. The form was sent in late September.

DC has had offers from Loughborough (AAB - top choice so thrilled), Portsmouth (intended reserve place, and offer is unconditional), Keele (CCC) and Northumbria (104 points).
Just waiting to hear from Bath but unless the offer is substantially different from Loughborough then it won't affect the two choices confirmed.
There is much relief all round!

RoddyJaneandFreddy · 05/11/2024 16:35

@woolleybear We are waiting on Bath too. I have read on here a few times that often they wait til after the January deadline, in an effort to be equitable to everyone applying.

devilsadvocate77 · 05/11/2024 16:38

At my DC's school only the early applicants' UCAS have gone in!

Edinburgh has a reputation for being very slow to give out offers. DD applied last year and her offer came through in mid-March. She is studying there now and loves it.

Missperfumado · 06/11/2024 00:14

My DD has an offer from York. Waiting for others including Edinburgh. DS didn’t get offers from Edinburgh, St Andrews and Durham until March/April a couple of years ago, so not holding breath.

Thismighthelp · 06/11/2024 06:42

Might be good to include the subject too. Offer through for Geography at Exeter (AAA)

Jeevesnotwooster · 07/11/2024 18:20

DD got offers from Manchester and Abertay within 24 hours and Stirling within 48. For Criminology (with law for Stirling).

YIPPEE! Offer from Southampton today for midwifery (ABB). The interview must have gone better than she thought. That's DD's favourite.

ontheturn · 08/11/2024 16:30

@SingingAvocado cingratulations to your DD!

May I join.. DDs UCAS being submitted this week... she's applying for English Lit & French at St Andrews, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Queens (Belfast) & Stirling.

OP, you mentioned waiting for Edinburgh... when my eldest was applying (Medical Sciences) they were last to respond, yet all the others were super quick... as it happened they were only third choice for them so they ended up withdrawing application after they received an unconditional offer for first choice. (We're in Scotland so it's common to get unconditional offers based on Higher results).

Lbet · 21/11/2024 12:40

My daughter us on a gap year and about to apply.
She is hoping for Liverpool Hope🤞

Yetanothercrazycatlady · 24/11/2024 18:42

Watching. It all feels rather real now. My DS is submitting his form for review this week.

PhotoDad · 24/11/2024 18:47

Already on a couple of other threads, so might as well hop on this one!

DS is applying for Physics & Chemistry (or "Natural Sciences") with a planned gap-year. Offers from Nottingham and Leeds. Nothing yet from Durham or Lancaster. Interview for Cambridge next month.

Stockpot · 24/11/2024 18:51

DD has MENG offers from Sheffield (A*AA) and Warwick (AAA) on hold with Bristol, expecting a wait from Bath, should know if she has an interview with Cambridge next week (we are not terribly optimistic about that one, she doesn’t think her ESAT went very well.)

hennybeans · 24/11/2024 19:07

Just an update: ds has a chemistry offer from York ( AAB), early October; Bristol ( A star AA) mid November; invited for interview at Imperial last week.

Waiting for Oxford interview invitation (fingers crossed) and UCL.

elkiedee · 25/11/2024 13:01

DS1 has applied to Oxford, Manchester, York, Warwick and St Andrews to do Maths. He has offers from Manchester (AA A) and York (AAA or possibly AAB) He took the Maths A level exams at the end of year 12 and will do Further Maths and 2 other A levels so already has an A in hand, so these offers sound high to me but are hopefully quite achievable for him. However, he doesn't think the MAT test for Oxford went well - he found the timing very difficult (the format seems very different from GCSE and A level exams) but I believe he's still waiting to hear whether he will get an interview. I am hoping that he will tell me as soon has he hears anything but am trying hard to resist grilling him on it, as I don't want to make him feel more stressed, but those Manchester/York offers do make me feel less anxious.

Knickersinatwist36 · 25/11/2024 13:34

Hi,
My DD (upper 6th) has an offer from Liverpool (BBB, I think), but also has a conditional offer from Manchester. When she clicks on the conditional offer on the UCAS website it says something along the lines of 'subject to receiving the results certificate'. Anyone know what this means? She sent a copy to them a couple of weeks ago, which the acknowledged but today she has had a confirmation email saying the same thing. Does this mean they will then ask her for grades at a later date or that this is effectively an unconditional?

We are in Scotland so she has her higher results already but I'm not sure many English unis take that into account and simply ask for advanced highers like A levels.

Revengeofthepangolins · 25/11/2024 17:04

@Knickersinatwist36 Is her Manchester conditional offer conditional on Advanced Hiher grades, or just Highers? I was assume the former in which case it will remain conditional until after the advanced higher results are out?

Thank you for your reply. There are no Advanced Higher grades specified, it just says conditional on receiving the copy of the exam results (we assumed Nat 5 and Higher). She sent it off a couple of weeks ago and they acknowledged they had received it. She got AAAAA at higher but we expected an Advanced Higher grade condition too.

Revengeofthepangolins · 28/11/2024 21:07

@Knickersinatwist36 In that case, I think it would make sense for to contact admissions to clarify - sounds as though it could be an admin error.
