Offers for 2025

ontheturn · 04/11/2024 16:15

I noticed that in 2024 there was an offers thread where people shared when their children. had submitted to ucas and what offers they had received. Anyone interested? We have offers for Manchester, Bristol and Leeds all within ten days of submitting ucas but still waiting on Edinburgh. We do know others who submitted at the same time who have had Edinburgh offers already.

@Knickersinatwist36 In that case, I think it would make sense for to contact admissions to clarify - sounds as though it could be an admin error.

Thanks I will get her to do this on Monday.

cushionfiend · 29/11/2024 16:52

We're in Scotland and have had offers from Glasgow and Aberdeen.

RayonSunrise · 29/11/2024 18:21

DD applied this week for Liberal Arts at Durham, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and Royal Holloway. She's had an offer from Manchester almost immediately, which has boosted her confidence!

Was the Glasgow offer unconditional? I heard they give out their unconditionals first but don't know if that's true.,

cushionfiend · 29/11/2024 21:49

@KingCatMeowInSpace Sort of but not exactly! It was conditional but the condition is just to complete an online academic skills module in summer school, in your own time and should take 16 hours or so in total.

KingCatMeowInSpace · 29/11/2024 22:59

That's great and sounds very doable - congrats

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 30/11/2024 00:38

DD got her first offer, unconditional for Stirling... was her "safety choice", and therefore least favourite, but nice to have it in the bag...

Temporaryanonymity · 30/11/2024 01:16

My son has had 4 offers for Pol & IR, the first 2 were received the day after his form went in. SOAS and Cardiff both offered ABB. Swansea offered BBC and Aber (his preference) have offered 120 UCAS points. Just waiting on Bristol, who have said his application is on hold.

He prefers Aber for the small town vibe and the lower cost of living, plus they offer a range of scholarships.

Curiouslerson73 · 30/11/2024 03:02

When did he submit his application? My daughter has applied to Cardiff too for Pol & IR.

Temporaryanonymity · 30/11/2024 08:44

About two weeks ago I think. Cardiff were very quick. Aber were super quick with others in his sixth form but took longer with him. Im
not sure it’s possible to read anything into it. It’s a really busy time of year.

Where else has she applied? I also did Pol & IR so I’m pleased my son is doing it.

It is great to hear about all the offers. My daughter is sending off her application next week along with her results (she is on a gap year)
Maybe I can let you know what offers she gets based on her results. She is applying for……
Liverpool Hope
cardiff
Bristol UWE
Manchester
Forgot the others but will keep you all posted. She has not quite made the grades she needs but not that far off🤞

RunningOverTime · 30/11/2024 10:36

DC still waiting for offers for PPE/Pol&Ec at Leeds, Manc and Edinburgh. Bristol on hold. Has interview for Oxford.

Very nerve wracking.

sugarapplelane · 30/11/2024 16:19

Can I join in?

Congratulations on all the offers so far.

My DD has applied for Astrophysics and courses with variations of the name. She’s had offers from Bristol (AAA), Edinburgh (AAA) and York (AAB) so far. Still waiting on Durham and Glasgow, but not holding expecting anything until next year.

Will be interesting to see when she hears from Durham. DD had to wait till the very last week before the deadline for her offer from there for lib arts.

NCTDN · 01/12/2024 22:15

Ds has heard from 4/5 for aerospace engineering, all with standard offers. The only one need waiting on is his probable insurance place where they've replied saying there are a lot of applications so will be the new year before he heard.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 03/12/2024 19:23

DD just got her second offer: Nottingham Uni, conditional on AB in Advanced Highers in English and French... which should be doable ( we're in Scotland , obviously... she already has AAAAB at Higher including As in English and French).

Still waiting to hear from Edinburgh, St Andrews and Queens...

RayonSunrise · 05/12/2024 06:45

@NCTDN, yes I've heard that Durham likes to wait til the bitter end to make offers, so DD is expecting not to hear from them for quite a while.

We also heard from Nottingham yesterday, conditional reduced offer (AAB) because DD has a good Core Maths grade. She was chuffed because she didn't think anyone recognised Core Maths, but she'd switched to it because she had a crisis over picking an EPQ topic that in no way crossed over with any of her A-level subjects, and she wanted to keep up maths without actually taking it at A-level.

SingingAvocado · 05/12/2024 11:34

DD (midwifery) has interviewed for Southampton, York, Nottingham and Oxford Brookes so far, and has her Manchester interview next week. She was chuffed to be invited to interviews everywhere she applied. She got an offer from Southampton, after 10 days, of ABB (her absolute fave, and we expected AAB), got an 'on hold' from York and got an offer from Brookes the day after her interview even thought she'd been told the wait would be a few weeks (BBB, and a nice confidence boost after feeling a little deflated by York). We are waiting for the outcome of the Nottingham interview still, and will see what Manchester brings next week (they say they usually let people know in about a week, but perhaps Christmas will delay things). Unless anyone else matches Brookes she'll be firming with Southampton with Brookes as insurance. She will need to decide whether to withdraw from others if they haven't told her yet, or to sit tight. I'm wondering if she will have more choice with accommodation if she firms early though?

Mommypa · 05/12/2024 11:42

offer came in from Exeter

RayonSunrise · 05/12/2024 15:03

Birmingham offer for Liberal Arts has also come in. So we're now at:

Manchester: standard offer (AAA)
Nottingham; reduced offer due to Core Maths grade (AAB)
Birmingham: standard offer (AAB)

Bunnyjo · 07/12/2024 23:51

DD applying for Primary Education with predicted grades of A*, A, B in English Language, Biology and Chemistry. UCAS was submitted mid October.

Durham - Interview late October, Offer late November (ABB or equivalent)

Northumbria - Interview November, Offer one day later (CCC or equivalent - contextual)

Manchester Met - Interview November, Offer within a week (BBB or equivalent)

Cumbria - Interview November, Offer same day (BBC or equivalent)

Huddersfield - Interview November - DD withdrew prior to interview as this was her least favourite of the 5.

Going to revisit Durham, Northumbria and Cumbria, but at this stage DD thinks she is going to firm Durham and insure Northumbria.

QuackADoodleDoooo · 08/12/2024 12:27

Does anyone have any experience of Sheffield and Nottingham Universities? My DD has applied for Law and they're the ones she really wants. Her application has only been in a week and she has other offers but it's those ones that she wants to hear from.

My niece is doing law from Nottingham and she is absolutely loving it.

@RayonSunrise . My DD also looking at Lib Arts. Offers from Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. She’s torn between Leeds and Birmingham. Same offers as your DD. Courses look SO interesting
