Accommodation at Nottingham Uni

DD got a place through clearing last Thursday. They guarantee an offer of accommodation. She put an application in immediately and then dashed off for a fortnight's holiday!

Not heard anything yet. Anyone have any knowledge of accommodation at Nottingham?

Hi, just come across this thread.
My DD is staying in Broadgate in a female shared floor. She has made friends with the other girls and said they are very nice.
She reports to be having a great time, is enjoying her freedom and has been out and about most evenings last week.
The house is very quiet without her

@DDC - I also have a daughter in Broadgate - she's loving it - seems to have been quite a lot of clubbing until the early hours...

Had her first lecture today and then went to the library to consolidate her notes and read around the topic. Long may that last! (Her older sister whatsapp'd her to askif she realised that libraries had books in.)

She's studying English and Philosophy.
She had an offer for Law but unfortunately didn't quite meet the grades and was offered an alternative course instead, that she didn't want, so switched to this. I think she was having doubts about the Law degree so it may have worked in her favour in the end. She seems very happy with her choice and she is planning to do law conversion year afterwards.

I did a law conversion course. It was fine and you cover all the basics. DS also applied for law and missed the grades but I think the course he’s doing is better suited to him anyway so sometimes you just have to have faith in the process!

@jellycat hello sorry for the late reply...yes he has a nut allergy- please don't worry it is not air born and he fine people eating nuts- in the last couple of years we have had a nut drawer in our house...

Did you mind me asking if your son take Phyiscs A level?

Yes, he did Physics A level 😃

Ds did maths , biology and chemistry and finding it a lot since he never did physics and it wasn't mandatory!

I said speak to the lecturers and find out if this is possible!

@Blubell46 I just checked and Physics is not a requirement, although Maths is. So I wouldn’t worry too much. Is he seeing his tutor today?

@SueBoo28 She's fine - I think the Willoughby crowd is getting on v well and the ResX team has put a few things on for them. How's your DD?

I've been in touch with Accommodation - have to say the comms to students has been poor upto now but as soon as I escalated it (my daughter sent me the email which came on Friday and I contacted the Accommodation team) I've had a couple of calls with senior people and they've been brilliant. They're sending an email either today or tomorrow I think with a bit more info & photos / video to reassure them that its all ready save for a couple of issues, and then they're planning to open it up on Wednesday afternoon for a bit of a tour just so students can go and see their rooms.

Thanks for the update! Not heard anything and my daughter has walked past and said it still looked like a building site! She has made some lovely friends but ResX haven't been very active for them over on Jubilee. Comms have been awful really. And once they all collected their ID cards no one can get in the main doors now! They have group chat where they message for anyone inside to let them in!

@Fourcandlesx as of last night no 🤦🏻‍♀️he went in and said it was all done and has access to his timetable but then proceeded to get an email saying he still needs to complete his uni registration so obviously it hasn’t been done properly and he hasn’t had his maintenance loan yet either 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ah, I think he needed the other IT issues sorted first so hopefully it will work now. He should just need to log onto the WiFi on campus using his uni email address and that should complete his in person registration and release his student finance.

@Blubell46 , my ds says the Physics they have been doing was on his A level syllabus so it’s just revision for those who’ve done it and bringing the the ones who didn’t others up to speed.

@jellycat thank you...that is what my ds thought but he is normally on top of it and feels a bit out of his control and on a back foot.

Finally DS has everything I think! Has missed a couple of French lectures but should be able to catch up as he’s studied French before so not a total novice. Finance all sorted too so should be paid on Friday… he’s coming home for the weekend hooray!

We’re meant to going up to visit but he said he felt fluey last night, it’s endemic there, but not much point going up if he’s just in bed all weekend. ‘Twas only a matter of time
