Accommodation at Nottingham Uni

DD got a place through clearing last Thursday. They guarantee an offer of accommodation. She put an application in immediately and then dashed off for a fortnight's holiday!

Not heard anything yet. Anyone have any knowledge of accommodation at Nottingham?

It sounds like most of the Nottn freshers are doing OK. We should all be so proud. DS has his timetable now but like others it took a while. I think he will also feel more settled when lectures start. He likes routine and structure. He has been out a lot. We spoke to him today, and he has a touch of freshers flu, but seemed OK. Good luck to them all, starting lectures tomorrow!

Oh dear. Two in DS's flat have Fresher's Flu so I'm expecting DS to go down with it soon.

He's keeping an eye on them, bless him Wink

In true DS fashion he still doesn’t have his timetable but has managed to find out what he’s got tomorrow and Friday from someone else on his course as he’s thinking of coming home next weekend…so he’s got tomorrow to sort himself out 😂
Hope all your DC’s have a good first week of proper studying!

DS is back from hospital, a bad sprain, flatmates being lovely and helpful. This might be a turning point.

Hope starting studying isn’t too shocking for them

So glad that they're looking after him. Poor sausage having a bad sprain on the first week.

DS has lectures from 9am till 6pm tomorrow but he does get two one hour breaks so he's happy. He's used to being frontline staff so working from 7am till 5pm with 10 minutes to scoff a sandwich.

my ds doesn’t start till 11 tomorrow, lucky boy! Not sure about the rest of the week.

DD doesn't seem to have any lectures this week either....

Had a fab time at fencing club and is really happy.

Had a bit of a blip as the girl murdered in Croydon was at her school and she knew who she was but the alumnae have got together and supported each other through it.

@londonmummy1966 that’s my manor too. Was on the bus to Mayday on Friday and we went past the Whitgift, I burst into tears as did another woman on the bus. And jiffled DS seeing ‘home’ on tv from afar.

ironically people from Croydon were asking me if I felt DS would be safe in Nottingham after the stabbings of Grace and Barney. . .

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto your DS must be a medic with those hours ?

My ds is doing engineering too- hope he wasn’t wrong about starting at 11!

I did a science and DH did engineering so we did warn ds about the full timetable. He had a full day in the lab on Friday (induction) and he loved it.

We used to have 9-6.15 most days: 2 x 3 hour practicals sandwiched between a lecture first thing and another at the end of the day, with 1.25 hours for lunch to allow us time to get back to college. So that was the kind of timetable I was expecting for ds.

DS had first lecture today and appears to have sorted his student intranet-hallelujah!
DD (14) feeling poorly at school and wants to test for covid later as lots of kids have it apparently… supposed to be doing silver DofE training this weekend & DS was going to come home but that might not be such a good idea now 😬

@jellycat my DS is allergic to nuts (amongst many other things !).

He went to his first lecture at 4 only to discover he’d been given the wrong time table and he doesn’t have anything on Monday at all ! So he’s going to look into volunteering, he would rather have things on every day

@Sssudio , ah, I thought someone had a nut allergic dc. My ds is eating nuts all the time at the moment as on his v restricted diet they are one of the few things he can have. So I was hoping it wasn’t Blubell’s ds since they are obviously in the same classes!

How is your ds getting on with his injured foot? Can he walk on it?
