Thanks for the new thread. Good luck to all Oxford applicants this week, longer wait for DD until the 25th.

juicy0 · 08/01/2023 09:01

Checking in. Good luck everyone!

OnePlusOneEquals · 08/01/2023 09:25

Thank you @Riverpebble

Rabbitsandhabits · 08/01/2023 09:41

What time does UCAS email and is it an actual you are in email or just an update to the status?
DD has mocks so may well be in an exam!

Scottishsummer · 08/01/2023 09:42

Thank you @Riverpebble for your calm and generous running of these threads.

Dd has no other offers and is trying to do mocks at the same time as waiting for news on Tuesday. Anyone else in the same boat?!!

It all feels so much harder than when I was applying to uni centuries ago. And they had Covid to get through.

OnePlusOneEquals · 08/01/2023 09:46

I’m thinking DS will probably text me as I’ll be at work, so am starting to think of responses to either outcome. This week has definitely gone quicker than I expected.

EmmaStone · 08/01/2023 09:58

Thank you for the new thread, not long to go now...

Firefox1066 · 08/01/2023 10:06

Checking in…. Thanks for the new thread @Riverpebble

Last night in bed, I was rehearsing lots of comforting phrases for Tuesday… let’s hope they are not needed! Good luck to all for this month

Wishing all the Oxford gang good luck for this week.

Dc said the Ucas track emails just say something like "you have an update" and then you have to log in to Ucas to see if it is an offer or not. So a two-step process - not a bad thing as if the email arrives, the dc can then find somewhere quieter or the right place for them to log in for the decision, rather than it flashing up on their phone.

Riverpebble · 08/01/2023 11:09

@Scottishsummer thank you.

We might need a new thread in time for Cambridge, I'll keep an eye on it.

Good luck Oxford peeps and much patience for the Cambridge folk who have an even longer wait.

Good luck to all your DC. My DS has decided he wants to try for Oxford for 2024 entry and I'm dreading the extra stress already.

Wildehorses · 08/01/2023 12:13

Best of luck to you all, my son never got an Oxford interview as he did not do well enough at the PAT but these threads are such a great support for parents and I really hope you all get good news on Tuesday 😀

Trylinescore · 08/01/2023 12:37

Very best of luck on Tuesday. At least Oxford makes standard offers so everyone has to get the same. My DC received their email from their college at 9.15 telling them they had an offer.

BTW it is very obvious who the DC are if you share their subject and college. The ongoing Oxbridge threads only ever share what the DC are taking, not the college. There might only be one or two taking a particular subject or combo at each college and Oxbridge is very incestuous so think about how much info your DC REALLY want you to share about them on a public forum.

beachcitygirl · 08/01/2023 12:50

Very best luck to everyone's kids on Tuesday! 25th for us x

Magimus · 08/01/2023 13:04

Best of luck to all fellow Oxford applicant parents. Another one with a mock on Tuesday. I am debating whether I should say something to DC the night before such as whatever happens tomorrow this doesn't define you. So far they have preferred not to talk about it. the nerves are really kicking in on the TSR thread.

pipnzip · 08/01/2023 14:55

Very best of luck to all DCs and their parents for Tuesday’s news. Thanks very much for setting up this new thread @Riverpebble So lovely to have this community so I don’t need to bother my DC with my Uni-related thoughts constantly. Seems only a few years since some of us were doing the same waiting on the 11+ entrance exam threads! Roll on Tuesday morning 😊

Aurea · 08/01/2023 15:17

Well that's all five choices finally in now for comp sci MSci - DS is a little indecisive 🤣.

Final choice was Durham (with Cambridge, St As, Edinburgh and Glasgow).

I'm a little nervous that there is an absence of a true lower ranking option in there, but his grades (Scottish highers/advanced highers both achieved and predicted) exceed the standard entry requirements for each course.

May I ask other Durham applicants about the college choice? He said he wasn't given the option of inputting a college code as this stage and the default option was an open application. Is this right and will he be able to select a college in due course?

Finally, very best of luck to the Oxford applicants next week. I'm rooting for you all!

usedtobeboss3 · 08/01/2023 15:21

Yes @Aurea my ds said the same about Durham. He recieved a Durham offer last week, and is expecting an email about college preferences soon, I think. If he doesn't hear anything soonish, he said he might call Admissions to clarify...

Aurea · 08/01/2023 15:25

Thank you Boss3. That's reassuring.

Karwomannghia · 08/01/2023 15:31

Good luck Oxford peeps!

Cocopogo · 08/01/2023 15:34

Checking in. Waiting for Cambridge. Good luck everyone for Oxford on Tuesday

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 08/01/2023 15:36

@Riverpebble Thanks for the new thread.

Posie23 · 08/01/2023 15:56

@Riverpebble thank you for the new thread. Nerves are kicking in here…

princesdando · 08/01/2023 16:12

Thanks @Riverpebble for the new thread.

DS reminded me this morning 48 hours to go. So I had the "talk" with him - he's done amazing to get here and will do well wherever he goes whether that's Oxford or not we are proud of him. All we can do now is wait 😊
