For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny although obviously I understand and wouldn't want you to be Wracked With Guilt or anything as I'm sure we will stumble on somehow

Goodness Avi, sounds like you are making momentous decisions.

Happy New Year!

I am posting from my bed for the first time ever. I took a turn for the worse on Sunday and I have never been so ill in my life, if I didn't know it was mastitis I would have thought it was meningitis. I shook for 24 hours, felt like there was an axe in my head and spears in my legs and there were dark red lines on my breast going into my armpit. I was crawling round the house looking for the AB's yesterday tea-time and everything was yellow like I was looking through a film.

Anyway, of course I couldn't find them and the surgery had just closed and DH was trying not to be cross I hadn't had them sooner and the kids were freaked out, apparently I was sort of wailing. Out of hours doctor faxed the prescription to the chemist in the end. She said they were strong and were likely to make me feel crap and I'm worried about them making Lo ill but I couldn't carry on. Feel a bit better this morning but I fell down the stairs carrying the baby so have come back to bed.

I have had pineapple too, Avi, I didn't eat anything yesterday and it was delicious. Is your headache any better? What an ill lot we are to start the new year.

Franny - enjoy your break and look after yourself.

lionheart · 01/01/2008 13:07

OverRated · 01/01/2008 16:36

Happy New Year all.

Good luck with your cutting down, F&Z

Mrs C, I hope you feel better soon, and Avi. Good luck to all those who are busy cooking. We just made trifle but are about to go to the shops to stock up on F&V

TooTicky · 01/01/2008 16:37

MrsC, poor you, I have emailed you.

Avi, is this a course to do with your current job? If you are feeling breathless with things then that is not good. You have a responsibility to your health as well. I wish you strength.

Lionheart, 20 people? Are you mad?

littlerach · 01/01/2008 17:25

Fab title, genius!!

MrsC i do hope you feel better soon, it sounds horrific.

Happy New Year everyone

MrsCarrot · 01/01/2008 17:41

Thanks, I am in bed again, it feels very indulgent.

Toot - I have not received an e-mail so we have our usual trouble. Could you send it again? I wanted to speak to you yesterday actually but I felt too ill.

TooTicky · 01/01/2008 18:00

Oh bollocks. Will try again.

TooTicky · 01/01/2008 18:08

Have sent

cadelaide · 01/01/2008 18:09

Franny, those titles just get better and better!

MrsCarrot · 01/01/2008 18:17

no e-mail, they don't tend to arrive later do they?

Have you got MSM?

TooTicky · 01/01/2008 18:23

MSM? What's that?
Hang on, I'll try from dp's business one...

MrsCarrot · 01/01/2008 18:29

Is instant messaging, like e-mail but in a pop up you click your message and it adds to the conversation. MSM is hotmail I think.

FrayedKnot · 01/01/2008 18:35

Great title

Happy New year everyone!

MrsC you do sound poorly. Hope it settles down with the ABs.

Avi, have you got that January feeling?

I have been known to do reckless things in januarys past.

DS has been pretty ghastly yesterday and today - shouting, arguing, laying down the law, refusing to do anything. Post Christmas comedown I suppose.

We did go on a train ride though, which was OKish

My New Years resolution is to join the gym whioch may mean I come on here less. Or not

FrayedKnot · 01/01/2008 18:36

Ooops, where did the sigh come from?!

FrayedKnot · 01/01/2008 18:37

FraNNY, before you go, what about the reindeer photos, hmmmm?

lionheart · 01/01/2008 19:20

Reindeer? I would like to see Franny dressed as a reindeer.

20 people not so bad TooT. I am better now at guessing how much and what to make.

MrsC, I hope that this year will be so much better for you healthwise.
