For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

lol at bimbo with a heart!

Have you seen that film then? ds1 wants to.

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 20:22

Skin symptoms are good MrsC, it means things are working their way outwards.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 02/01/2008 20:23

yes I went on my own on NYE

how old is ds1 it is a 12 A i think whatever that means

FrayedKnot · 02/01/2008 20:26

I am not eating much at all, although what I have eaten was good...

I went to bed at 9 last night and woke up feeling rubbish...I went to work and wished I hadn;t.

I keep getting stomach pains and feeling sick and felt very achy this morning so I suppose it is some sort of virus. One or other of us seem to have been ill for about 5 weeks now

Sorry ot hear MIL is casuing you grief F&Z.

I found a Toast Home brochure thingie and am coveting a merino wool throw, and some cable knit bedsocks.

Ridiculous since I am broke and I only have to look at wool and I've shrunk it/

MrsCarrot · 02/01/2008 20:31

is it good, Toot? I also have psoriasis on my elbows and a large patch of excema on my ill breast, there must be lot of stuff to work out.

Zippi - he's 10, so a 12a would be fine. I can't be bothered to see it I might send DH. I havent been to the cinema on my own for ages, I used to like it.

Sorry you're ill, FK.

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2008 20:36

MrsC I have been thinking about you and fretting about you. Sorry to hear latest development.

I lay awake last night thinking about MN and the only thing that got me back to sleep was deciding I was going to beg someone to organise another meet up in the next couple of months. I know we said the summer but I am going to be hugely pg / have tiny baby and I don't know if I can wait that long anyway [needy]

I really want to stop being on the computer so much right now. I am abit that a couple of you have said I have done well at staying off - I think I must be lurking and reading LOADS and not posting much, in fact I am sure that is what is happening. I don't seem to be able to keep it to a small amount of time so I really am going to have a go at cutting it out altogether. Obviously not done too well so far . And ds and dp are going away for the weekend for 3 days so will be on my own all weekend and bound to be on here This is the first time I have ever spent the night apart from ds I wish they weren't going. Ds will be upset about it so I have not told him yet Not my usual method of dealing with things but the more you prepare him for things at the moment, the worse he is about them! Springing unpleasant things on him at the last minute works MUCH better [sigh]

I have had a headache for 2 days now and I think as I don't drink to have a 2 day hangover after new year's is a little unfair

sorry everyone seems a bit out of sorts or just falling apart etc. love to you all xx

oh Mrs C and FK Jan is just a grin month. Being ill makes it worse. Hope things improve.

Franny, I need to spend less time on here too. I am vowing to come on this thread (because I'd miss you all too much) and a book thread which I started and that is it.
I get so much more done without MN. And if I am not to succomb to the horrors of Januaryitis (my own personal, thankfully brief, depression) I need to be doing something constructive. Plus I find myself getting unfairly itrritated with loads of posters on other threads. Time for a small break

MrsCarrot · 02/01/2008 20:54

oh, dear, must it be an unpleasant thing that he's going away for the weekend, or is it tied in the MIL thing? It does seem like you've hardly posted but I thought maybe it was because you were pregnant. I go weird when I am and become a hermit and can't bear certain people and so on. Could you have an indulgent weekend and pamper yourself?

FMV - Do you really hate january? I quite like winter but then I am a bit odd. I find it annoying when spring comes and the ground is all soggy with green shoots popping up everywhere and it is mild.

Tatties · 02/01/2008 21:05

Hello, sorry everyone is feeling crap.

I actually feel really relieved that Christmas is over, I never got into the swing of things this year as my mind is elsewhere. I am lucky that I don't tend get January blues as we have birthdays to look forward to and that takes the edge off it. I think another meet-up is a good idea, maybe it would cheer us all up if we had something to look forward to?

I have also not been here much and have been trying to get stuff done; and I do get things done when I am not here, but I want to talk to you all!

Franny when do the boys go away?

lionheart · 02/01/2008 22:59

MrsC I just read your posts properly instead of skimming.

Good God woman are you o.k?

Oh Franny, if you are on your own you must come on here or email. You can abandon give up later surely?

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 23:13

Okay, this meet-up. What about it?

MrsC, that sounds pretty fantastic to me

lionheart · 02/01/2008 23:19

A meet up would be lovely.

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 23:24

Of course you can help me Lionheart

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 23:25

Oh, was that not what you meant?

lionheart · 02/01/2008 23:25

Shoving nothing at all to do with the fact that you beat me at $"&^^le.

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 23:26

Okay, obviously things must be decided off-thread, but in a general kind of way, would people be thinking of indoors/outdoors, eating/non-eating, London/not London?

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 23:27

Ah yes. Doesn't feel like a triumph as I was unable to use 3 letters.

lionheart · 02/01/2008 23:32

Was London the easiest place for people to get to given tha fact that we are scattered far and wide?

Outside would be a bit chilly perhaps for those who are wimpy with small children.

Food very good.

And somewhere to stay for people who come from afar or who like to loiter spend time in the capital.

TooTicky · 02/01/2008 23:34

Yes, probably.
Eating is good, yes, but worrying if one is on a budget. There are travel expenses as well.
It will be chilly though. Probably.

lionheart · 02/01/2008 23:38

Yes, I wonder how we could eat, stay warm and keep the costs down.

OverRated · 02/01/2008 23:52

Mrs C. I'm sorry you're having such a bad time.

Why are you not coming to Chicago for a meet-up? We have food over here

I had vegetables today. [proud emoticon]

anorak · 03/01/2008 00:05

Hello ladies. Very sorry you are all feeling so rubbish. MrsCarrot it sounds miserable what you're enduring.

I hesitate to add to the woeful tone but I have to get back on the programme because I am fighting breast cancer diagnosed 2 months ago when I arrived to live in Bermuda.

Had a mastectomy the week before Christmas and once healed will be undergoing chemotherapy so I thought the old 10/10 diet would be just the thing - in conjunction with giving up alcohol and my beloved diet coke for a while.

I'm sore and weak from the op but other than that quite well and feel most of you ill people are suffering much more than me.

Have just been shopping and filled the fridge with veggies, once all the Christmas choccies have been eaten it should be plain sailing.

FrannyandZooey · 03/01/2008 08:55

Anorak please come and settle in, loads of f+v is just what you need. Sorry you are in pain and hope you are healing fast - have you got an alternative health person there to advise on natural remedies to give you a boost, as well as the orthodox medicine which you obviously need right now? I would think the KIki superfood supplement would be great for you (note to self must buy shares in Kiki superfood)

My choices for a meet up would be London, food, indoors, but you knew that already as that's what I chose for the last one. It would be so nice to see you all again and have --the piss ripped out of my accent share our fruity camaraderie once again plus lech at the divine Mr Avi meet all your lovely children and so on

Tatties they are going Saturday morning and coming back Monday tea time. MrsC yes I have planned lots of stuff and am seeing friends / going to cinema / out for tea and stuff, but I hate the way that I haven't chosen this - if I needed a break and asked dp to take ds off for a bit that would be fab. I do need a rest and I desperately need not to sit in the car for 800 miles in a weekend and then have to be civil to someone I can't stand, but I would rather the boys were not going either. And ds will Not Like the fact that I am not there.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 03/01/2008 09:02

I hope you make a good recovery anorak I can't imagine how awful it is for u

I have been got out of bed by the plumber who thinks he will finish today

Well he got me up but I got back in bed as its so cold, so now I must shower and i am psyching myself to go to the gym

I could also buy some food

do some work

ring the electrician

college assignments

rather than read my novel and go back to bed cos that seems like a nice not face the world thing to do

fullmoonfiend · 03/01/2008 10:07

Hmmm. Somewhere warm, cheap, indoors where we can eat...
