Should old potatoes be forgot and lemons brought to mind? Should old potatoes be forgot and days of clementines? 10 / 10 club

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Avi, did you suggest that we all come to yours earlier? Or did I imagine it?

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 20:12

What are the costs like for Landmark Trust properties?

BBBee · 03/01/2008 20:16

meet up?

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 20:18

Yes! We're having another one to save Franny's sanity or something.

ahundredtimes · 03/01/2008 20:19

Hello team.

BBee is here. I haven't read thread, I am only here to flirt with BBee.

Are you meeting again? [impressed]

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 20:21

Yes. Are you coming or are you scared?

ahundredtimes · 03/01/2008 20:22

Scared.

Where are you going now? I think you should all go in tents to Avi Island or a fruit farm.

ahundredtimes · 03/01/2008 20:25

Oh I've skimmed the thread now.

MrsC! I am SO SORRY. It sounds awful.

Also anorak, how nice you are here, hope that bounteous amounts of f&v will help you in feeling and getting better soon.

BBBee · 03/01/2008 20:28

100!

why the hell aren't you here more? You will end up eating all that brie dipped in coffee again if you are not careful. Also we need all the stories about fireworks.

are we really going to meet agsin soon?

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 20:28

Don't know where we're going yet.

FrannyandZooey · 03/01/2008 20:29

Wombling I DO only post on this thread, more or less

it doesn't affect the fact i still spend all ruddy day on here

anyway have cut down a LOT today

have eaten 4 no 5 no actually I think 6 clementines, pineapple, melon, blueberries, roast butternut, pepper and mushrooms, hummus, and some mixed beansprouts

of course everyone wants to get in mine and zippi's beds. Surely that goes without saying

had to go out in the pissing pouring rain to buy Christmas presents for ds because my headfuck of a MIL has not managed it (we offered WEEKS ago to do this after she pulled something similar last year)

dp is talking about not seeing her again but worrying about how he would feel if / when she dies. He is also talking about phoning Al Anon or even a COUNSELLOR halle fucking lujah

hope everyone well / recovering / bearing up

TooT no please you organise it. I will just find it hard (although I don't want to do it) so please give me some leeway if I am being an arse

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 03/01/2008 20:31

i am trying to be good

and get some sleep so i look less like a dog

and i wont pretend i dont have a slight incentive to try and look ok for this guy lol

well not good so much as not er f awful

anorak · 03/01/2008 20:32

Resolutions? Yes! Giving up alcohol and diet coke - at least until after chemotherapy. Not F&V but good for health especially if having fruit/veg juice instead.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 20:33

Okay

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 03/01/2008 20:33

as well as keep my brain in check of course which coffee doesnt really do as it makes me terribly excitable and then i think alcohol would be a good idea to relax me and we get in a vicious circle of upping and downing with a lot of angst in between

BBBee · 03/01/2008 20:40

i am not going to give up coffee but will go down to one cup a day (mumbles something aqbout protective effects of caffine..)

I am eating in that apres christmas way. No stilton left (the bastard!) so am eating cheddar on water biscuits with bizarre relish from hamper (beetroot and something) and then I will have some after eights. How by fuck I have some after eights I do not know.

Shall I buy an oxfam thing for a pianist for a 50th birthday or can you think of somethin else?

anorak - best wishes

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 03/01/2008 20:42

buy the pianist an ipod shuffle they are so cute

Boco · 03/01/2008 20:50

We're having a meetup without children aren't we bee? With champagne instead. I'm very much looking forward to it.

I've had lots of kiwis because they all became ripe at once. And some grapes and clementines and blueberries. I'm making going on holiday piles and doing excited little dances as i pull out summery tops.

I just spoke to the wizard who said that the homeopathic remedies will stop working once going through the x-ray machines at the airport. Well i never.

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 20:51

When are you off, Boco?

Boco · 03/01/2008 20:57

We're leaving at 5am on Saturday morning.

MrsCarrot · 03/01/2008 20:57

Oh, I'd forgotten about your holiday Boco, have fun! I have seen people leave their homeopathic kits out of the xray machine at airports.

Hello Bee/100x

Champagne meets sound good too. I have to wait a week to drink our new year one, suppose it will do me good, I hadn't really noticed that I have a glass of wine most days.

TooTicky · 03/01/2008 21:08

Have a wonderful time Boco

OverRated · 03/01/2008 21:24

Why would an x-ray machine stop homeopathic things working?

You lot'll know this - how much water should I be drinking? And is it realistic? I hate drinking anything but think I am probably a bit dehydrated so need to make an effort. New Year & all that...

FrayedKnot · 03/01/2008 21:34

Evening all

It's taken me a while to catch up but hello to anorak and sorry to hear what you have been / are going through - you sound like you are eating and drinking (or not!) very well which I'm sure will help ..

Are there any interesting fruit / veg that are grown in Bermuda which would not be available here except by virtue of huge airmiles ...so we can all swoon with envy?

I'd love to come to Chicago OR

London is very easy for me but I don;t mind attempting to travel furtehr. I liek the idea of a champagne meet with no children

Sorry Franny probably not the moment to mention it though.

Boco..gosh, you are going to be warm, and sunned upon...how brilliant...

MrsC hope things are settling down now

I feel better today and have been to enquire about gym membership (DS was not impressed).

I have also just submitted DS' application for school.
