Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 09:36

No curry for me, either, thanks, although might do the same job as the lactulose?! Blush tea, thanks, jchocchip

Have done school run this morning, so feeling like a good mummy again!

Have taken 1 rather than 2 metoclopramide, plus lactulose, so will see how I feel later. So far so good.

What news of the hammer wielding loon topsy? Any more excitements to report?

Am a bit snuffly this morning- how bad does it need to be to see docs? Have got canceritis or chemo-itis, and am paranoid! I do not have a temp, not coughing, no headaches, feel fine, as far as normal (!) just a bit sneezy and snuffly. Ring unit?

Hope everyone else OK this morning? Sorry, my posts are rather self indulgent and self interested at the moment. . . Am thinking of you all, promise!

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 09:45

Take your temp, Ned! The minute it starts to creep up, phone the unit, not your GP.

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 09:49

Lots going on here, I see Grin

Here, the totally crap Baxi combi boiler is up to its old tricks and has leaked dirty water into a pile of about 20 nice clean towels. I want a new one, made by someone who knows how to make a boiler properly, DH wants it repaired -again Angry I suspect that's because I'm the person who has to wash the towels, and lies awake listening to it dripping into the washing up bowl while DH snores.

Re Book Week dressing up - blissfully easy for us this year. Dd's favourite book character is one from a Jacqueline Wilson so easy-peasy. One year she was the Pesky Rat, which was tougher Hmm

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 09:51

Thanks sometimes just taken it: 35.6. Not too worrying yet, no? Will make a note and check in an hour. It's just the sneezing and the snuffles that made me think I might have a problem.

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 10:05

No not worrying yet. Keep an eye - don't obsess but take it 2 or 3 times a day while feeling rough, and straight away if you suddenly start to feel worse. When you are feeling OK again, once a day should be fine.

It's a drag, isn't it? Try not to fret.

Gigondas · 27/02/2012 10:14

Aw Ned - I do feel for you and hope cold symptoms ease up as you don't need that. But good on you for doing school run - Smile

Sympathy re shit boiler issue sometimes- can you not try and tell dh it's a false economy? We gave in and got new one last year as got sick of boiler breaking , almost invariably on coldest days of yearAngry

topsyturner · 27/02/2012 10:15

Def keep an eye on the temp ned , anything high - call your unit not GP .
In the mean time , return to bed with plenty oh fbs and a mug of Horlicks . Also keep firm hand on tv remote and regularly shout at people "I do have Cancer you know" Grin

No more Hammer Weilding Loons to report this morning . We live in a lovely area , our house backs onto fields full of horses . Just a pity that on the other side of the field is a lock down unit for the Criminally Insane !

Dh has "found" absconders from the unit on a couple of occasions whilst walking pig/dog , so we are well known to our local police station ...

Does anyone have any appointments today ?

Hope everyone is feeling well .

Curry has been put on hold till lunch time now as friend came round with MaccyD breakfast

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 10:28

Is pig/dog adequate protection from the adsconders?!

Trying not to fret here - enjoying soiling myself watching spot of Jeremy Kyle making myself feel better about my little life Blush

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 10:30

Ned I trust you mean 'spoiling' not 'soiling' Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 10:34

Topsy - a lockdown unit? Shock Bloody hell. I am glad you have a large GSD.

I could go a curry for lunch [eyes salad with distaste]

Gig - I have tried that card. But for some reason I can't fathom he wants to repair now and get a quote for a new one before winter, so I suppose it's a cashflow issue. I know nothing of these I rely on DH for that have delegated that vulgar money stuff to DH. Sigh.

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 10:39

Not literally, sometimes Blush do feel a bit soiled emotionally, interfering in other peoples fragile lives. Does make me feel a little bit of "at least my life is not as bad as that" probably makes me a mega shallow person!

topsyturner · 27/02/2012 10:45

GrinGrinGrin at ned soiling herself

Pig/dog is a large but extremely stupid German Shepherd . So looks the part to any criminally insane absconders that dh comes across . There is a piccy of him on my profile in Dr Who mode !

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 11:04

topsy pig/dog is excellent- sure he can fill the role of scary canine accessory admirably should the situation arise.. . . Unless of course he tries to hump any invading loon Grin

JK episode over - soiling complete. . . . Wink

holstenlips · 27/02/2012 11:17

Haha Topsy @ 'i do have cancer you know!' Could be used a bit like a celebrity would say 'do you know who I am?'
I too am nearly soiling myself with a dose of the trots so better pass on the curry.

Gig how you feeling ? What time your app tomorrow?

Gigondas · 27/02/2012 12:58

Tired but ok- am trying not to think about tomorrow (appt at 1) as even though I don't think there is much more they can tell me I don't know at this stage, I am still nervous . Part of it is projecting onto this dr, part of it is based on how she was last time (very competent and thorough but not warm in manner and fact I went in expecting for her to know/ have seen more of my records than she had was a bit off putting).

Revelling in being feeble as nanny off sick today do dh working at home. Feel a bit guilty that need help but also grateful.

Grin at the jeremy Kyle watchers - must admit there are occasional aibu threads that seem to go same way at times.

Am sorry you are feeling poorly too Holsten- must be something around as my tummy not all it could be (suspect it's double dose anti biotics),

SparkleRainbow · 27/02/2012 13:09

Sorry

we went to stay with friends, have dinner and wine..... The two dh'd drank 7 bottles of red wine!!!!! I told you dh drinks too much. My friend and 1 drank some 2 1/2 bottles of white , went to bed at 3 am, dh then snored=no sleep at all sat night..went to bed 1 min after dc last night, and still feeling tired fragile

Sorry to have missed crime eggs, pig/dog escapades, bookday plans, and all the snacks, happy to have missed all the wine as I am never ever drinking again Wink

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 13:55

Come on in and sit down, my dear. Crime eggs all round. . . ! Lots of fluids and some paracetamol on offer here.. . .

gig ask all the questions you want and drum your heels on the floor until you get all the answers. Even if you have to ring a few days later to give her time to find the answers. You need to feel that you have control over your treatment and the information surrounding your illness, because then you can feel empowered to understand why they are suggesting x or y treatment and it makes a bit more sense. That's what I think, anyway. Big hugs and thinking o you for tomorrow (((((((((((((( gig ))))))))))))))))))

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 14:19

Gig - ned's right, take note [stern]

Sparkles, that is a LOT of wine!!!! Fair play, if you had a good night out of it, but I can imagine you must all feel a bit bad now. Have some water and some fruit, it'll soon put itself right.

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 14:28

afternoon all.

Ned - as others have said, watch your temp. - if it goes up (or if you feel poorly) ring unit. Sometimes sniffs and snuffles is the cells lining your nose being killed off by the chemo, - so perfectly normal, but always err on the side of caution.

Gig - hope you get the answers you want tomorrow, - bedside manner is so important I think - you want to feel you can ask whatever you want. - Write everything down, and go through your list with her, - its easy to forget your questions in the general anxiety of appointments. Smile

Holsten - sorry you are feeling off colour too.

Sparkle - hair of the dog? - no? Grin

topsy - your DH + pig/dog are obviously a detective unit to rival Turner and Hooch Grin - But good news that hammer wielding loon has gone (always wondered when I'd get to write that sentence Grin)

Sometimes - grr to boiler, ours is a bit of a wreck too, and we keep getting it repaired, I hate it!

I'm waiting for the hospital to ring about my referral for reconstruction (long story but I first asked for said referral in October, and have been consistently been buggered about ever since. I have got into the routine of badgering them every couple of weeks now until it is sorted) no doubt they won't ring until 5.00pm so I have to stay in the house a afternoon.

DH had his tooth out this morning, - so is feeling mighty relieved.

I have done 2 hours of yoga, and had bran flakes for breakfast, and a wholemeal sandwich with a lot of salady nonsense inside it for lunch.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2012 14:30

good afternoon all- have been out for coffee and then to shops-am going to do a bit of work very shortly. Poor ned with cold - can sympathise as throat has been odd all week and now sniffly- yucky. lots of fluids and as the others have said, keep an eye on temp.
Sending super big hugs to gig for tomorrow and hope that holsten's gippy tummy is better v soon and sparkle is feeling less fragile Grin
I thought topsy live next to a health centre,not a secure unit Grin - that's a little scary !

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2012 14:32

ow kk @ tooth extraction - hope dh is relieved !

Very impressed by yoga and healthy foods - I didn't give in to a croissant with coffee and being a good lent observer asked them to leave the choc sprinkles off my cappuccino (smug emoticon)

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 14:59

Hooray - after five months of bureaucracy, I have an appointment on March 9th. Smile

Well done for resisting choc. sprinkle MAS (I resisted free cake in my favourite cafe this morning, - they'd just tried a new recipe, spiced apple cake (weeps at thought of its yumminess) and were offering free sample slices.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2012 15:07

yay for appointment kk !! and well done for resisting cake !

Sometimesiwonder · 27/02/2012 15:38

Ooh woo hoo for an appointment, KK - finally!

Envy about your healthy eating too. I was doing quite well but I have a sick headache, the kind that tablets don't shift, and i got a sugar craving, hoovered up a cupboard full, and now the headache has gone. [grateful for small mercies, tries to overlook bloated tummy]

MAS - cheque sent! And I have just paid myself so, with a fair wind, it shouldn't even bounce Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2012 16:08

thank you sometimes - your zine is in the post ! Grin
