Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

Ned - I'm sure lactulose will be fine, - I had movicol from the hospital which I think works similarly. I'd avoid anything too strong (like senna similar) - I found they gave me awful stomach cramps.

The steroids and the sickness meds. will make you constipated. Plenty of fluids, dried apricots, prunes/prune juice, and licquorice (the panda bars or pieces you can get from health shops or supermarkets) all worked for me, and not to hard to stomach if you are feeling queasy.

But its a ver common side effect unfortunately and one you don't want when you are feeling lousy anyway, so if you feel its not improving ring and ask unit or GP for something else to try Smile

-Don't worry about TMI - there's no such thing as TMI when we're talking chemo side effects! Grin

You are indeed an old hand! Grin - glad you are feeling tentatively better today, hopefully you're on the up and will feel a lot better next week.

Sunny but nippy here too jane.

waves to elibean - yes, wubbly has been on our minds a lot Sad
Mr KK is handsome indeed !
ned - am so excited that you are a Patrick Gale fan too - he was very good at the reading- he is very lovely to look at - my friend on fb is a novelist and was his fb friend so she suggested I befriended him - I feel hopelessly awed by him but fortunately didn't embarrass myself when he was signing my book (have jabbered away talking rubbish when having things signed )

NedSchneebly · 25/02/2012 13:11

MAS I remember reading "facts of life" when I was in my 20s, and not being able to put it down! I just love his characters, and the way the stories shift around them. Am sure he would have been impressed by your fan status!

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/02/2012 13:44
Smile
MaryAnnSingleton · 25/02/2012 14:26

kk my anxiety dreams are often recurring ones- same places/same anxieties- they are exhausting !

Gigondas · 25/02/2012 16:01

Mas mine are same too- I quite often have to wake up and check where dh is as part of it revolves around not meeting him.

Ned - constipation horrid as had it due to drugs. Am sure lactilose is fine as can use it bf.

Dd1 gone to rugby while dsd sleeps off hangover is unwell and in bed. So am making big mug of tea and got Choc for rugby. Come on England (hoping dd1 stays asleep Wink)

Gigondas · 25/02/2012 16:06

Drugs due to c section not random use of drugs I may add.

NedSchneebly · 25/02/2012 16:15

Thanks gig took some this morning, and, without grossing anyone out too much, I am soooooooooooo much relieved! Blush

Should I take some every day to keep things moving, or leave it a couple of days then have another clear out, so to speak? Any advice welcome Smile

Watching rugby here - DS and DH out for a walk, so can enjoy men in tight shorts good sportsmanship in peace.

Gigondas · 25/02/2012 16:22

I took it twice a day (without being gross I was in need of it) so would start like that and reduce if needed. I found if less drastic in effect than movicol so was ok.

Yes also enjoying rugby here - for the skill obviously Wink

NedSchneebly · 25/02/2012 16:29

Lovely shirts Blush so bright and colourful. . .

KurriKurri · 25/02/2012 16:30

Same here ned - I took it and gradually reduced the dose. (On my second cycle I just assumed I'd get constipated and took it right from the start after I had my chemo dose, - to pre-emp it so to speak), just play by ear a bit because without wishing to freak you out, - at the end of the cycle- (I think as it killing cells off in my lower digestive tract) I used to get diarrhoea. - so its seeing how you are each day really. - Oh the joys and the dignity of cancer treatment! Grin

Still its kind of reassuring in a sense if you get these s/e - you know the drugs are geting into your system and doing their work Smile

Also rugby watching here. But tomorrow when Scotland lose play will be the main one for us.

dh has gone over to my parents with some beer to watch rugby ! am doing a rough drawing for a new job and will go and do some meditation.
Any crisps on the fbs trolley ? really want some and dh forgot to buy any...

KurriKurri · 25/02/2012 16:37

Got cheese balls (spherical Wotsits), and salt and vinegar chipsticks here MAS - any good?

OP posts:
Gigondas · 25/02/2012 17:08

Salt and sweet popcorn (seriously its nice) or hula hoops here (I won't offer any pom bears from dd1 supply although they are my guilty pleasure).

smee · 25/02/2012 17:43

Ha ! I looked on 'Threads I'm on' and thought nobody had posted today. Didn't realise you'd started another. Can't lose me that easily though. Grin

MAS, so pleased your reading went well. Not surprised you were tired last night though. Must have quite something to get through.

Ned, great to hear you're feeling a bit better and things are moving so to speak. Always a relief when that happens.

I'm working. Yawn.. Lovely day out there though. Went to the local Organic Market this morning and bought lots of gorgeous looking veg at exorbitant prices to cook later. Wine soon? Surely it's time.. Smile

holstenlips · 25/02/2012 18:46

Hi everyone, have managed to get
hopelessly behind on news again.
Smee, it surely must be wine time.

KurriKurri · 25/02/2012 18:54

I've got a nice little Australian Chardonnay here if anyone wants a glass.

I may have had one already - and classed it as a fruit snack.

OP posts:
jchocchip · 25/02/2012 19:30

I've still got some sloe gin, just reminded of it reading of kks fruit snack :) Anyone want to help me use it up? Also eating liquorice. Was tempted by a milky bar in the cupboard. Are they chocolate? They don't claim to be on the wrapper... Had to make my own coffee this morning as dh forget about lent and was liberal with the chocolate sprinkles

smee · 25/02/2012 19:47

Wine is definitely one of the five a day, so sloe gin must be too. Grin

amberlight · 25/02/2012 20:00

'ello all! Found you! For some weird reason Mumsnet slows down hugely on long threads when I'm typing, but doesn't on the short ones. All very odd.
Yes please to the Wine

holstenlips · 25/02/2012 20:05

Plenty of wine here to go round, how is everyone?

holstenlips · 25/02/2012 20:09

Took dd to see the muppets today, would recommend as a feelgood film : ma na mana do doo do do do!

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/02/2012 20:28

oh I want to see the Muppets ! we have found some pretzels- had wine at parents,so quite 'relaxed' kk are those cheese footballs ? love them

KurriKurri · 25/02/2012 20:56

They aren't the proper footballs MAS (I know you are secretly addicted to them) these are like Wotsits, but ball shaped (I imagine they taste a bit like like that packing material you get in big boxes sometimes, but cheesier. Grin)

Oh - muppets are great holsten - did your DD enjoy it?

hello amber and smee - jane sloe gin is probably 2 of your 5 a day (sloes and um..er... juniper berries Grin). Pretty sure Milky Way isn't chocolate - it's made of fluff AFAIK.

holstenlips · 25/02/2012 21:02

Dd and her friend laughed all the way through KK , it was great .
