Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 26/02/2012 15:31

topsy loving Creme egg protein! Grin frys peppermint cream chock full of herby goodness, I am sure

I have been out for lunch! First time actually hungry in a week, so DH took us to shaftesbury for lunch in the pub. DH is doing good job at the moment, I have to admit. . . Had a little wander by the Abbey in the sunshine, and then lunch at the Mitre. very civilised and delicious banofee pie - another one of my five a day!

Plans for the afternoon? DH and DS snoozing on the sofa, so I am catching up on here. Need to put washing on the line or DS will be going to school in either a) very damp uniform or b) his pants Blush

NedSchneebly · 26/02/2012 15:45

Any ideas for World Book Day dressing up crap on Thursday? I'm thinking Bob the Builder, cos its easy - jeans, checked shirt, plastic helmet and spanner- but not very imaginative. . . Any bright ideas? I am sure that your inspirational and razor sharp minds can come up with something significantly more interesting, yet straightforward to pull off.

Thinking also might stop taking anti sickness meds in an attempt to get bowels back to some semblance of normality. . . Bad idea? Should I reduce gradually in style of heavily addicted junkie, or just go cold turkey?

Gigondas · 26/02/2012 15:56

I would go slowly on coming off meds- my experience of cold turkey on painkillers was most unpleasant.

Am also delighted about world book day. Dd wanted to go either as a planet ( her favourite book was about space) or barbie ( not a book character). So have compromised on little mermaid .

Being most lazy and having pre dinner rest and trying not to think about oncologist appt on tuesday. For some reason feeling more dog tired (I think shock of dx put off normal new mum feeling) and particularly achy (muscular from op and c section ) . Think a Roast dinner and fbs pud required .Grin

Gigondas · 26/02/2012 15:58

I would go with bob Ned- your idea is good for costume. And hasn't ds only just had to do dress up for assembly? Confused

KurriKurri · 26/02/2012 15:59

What sickness meds are you on Ned? I just took mine as and when I needed too, but I knew what time of day I was going to start feeling sick so could predict a bit. I think it'll depend on what type of med it is, - I know they have different actions, does it have any info in the pack about how to stop it?

World Book Day - hmmm - I never had to deal with this - mine are too old, we luckily missed this horror interesting concept.

What stories does littleNed like? Bob the Builder sounds perfectly fine to me - and I'm sure you can be excused for feeling unimaginative atm! (also he'll be comfortable in Bob clothes all day, whereas if he goes as the Gruffalo, he'll get fed up with his outfit after 5 mins Grin)
Sorry, I'm having a metal block about children's books - am useless to you.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 26/02/2012 16:02

Envy at kurri missing world book day.

KurriKurri · 26/02/2012 16:05

Don't be too Envy Gig, - we still had the usual roman/viking/victorian/evacuee day to find outfits for (although they probably still do them as well Grin) my children (DS esp.) were the type who mention the night before 'oh I need to go in as a cavalier complete with long curly hair tomorrow' (cue me digging out seventies velvet jacket and a mop) Hmm

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 26/02/2012 16:19

Thanks kurri I think Bob is the obvious answer. Grin at little kurri with a mop head! Yes, just done Greek dressing up for assembly! We do have a full Gruffalo outfit which is beyond cute, but as you say, he'll be fed up with it by playtime.

I am on metoclopramide, and am currently taking max dose- 2 tabs 4x day. Doesn't say anything on leaflet about stopping. . .its just that I feel another lactulose day coming on tomorrow Blush and fancy not having to deal with bloated constipation thing if stopping the meds will allow things to revert to normality naturally?

OneInEight · 26/02/2012 16:21

Ned, if you want a really lazy book day send him as Harry and his bucketful of dinsosaurs - plastic bucket full of plastic dinosaurs - is all that required. We have also done Kipper (or ? Chip) out of the magic key series - stripy top, jeans and trainers. Luckily they have stopped dressing up now at ds's school for world book day - well I hope they have.

Figgyroll · 26/02/2012 17:18

Afternoon all. > Well, it is Sunday. Am seriously considering getting my shoes on and popping out for healthy Fry's Peppermint Cream and a Crime Egg Grin Grin

Ned, I think Bob will be perfect. How I used to detest Book Days at school. DS1 once went as James Bond (year 5, I think) - black joggers, top, balaclava, length of DH's climbing rope round his shoulders and some gadgetty items too. Also as Gandallf (white sheet, big beard and huge stick/staff). One year I sewed white cotton 'bones' on DS2's black clothes (and mine) and we went to school as the two skeletons in Funny Bones. I loved it when they left but of course I work at school so have to join in and, even though DS1 is 25, he's a teacher so continues to pester me for ideas even now. Smile

Re the anti-sickness tablets, I had the same problems as you're having but found a good healthy portion of about 8 dried prunes did the trick. I had sachets of an orange flavoured drink but they tasted foul and made me feel even worse.

Holsten, yay for appetite coming back. You rebel, you - taking something up for Lent. I might join you. Definitely like the idea of a crime egg a day Smile

Gig, not surprising you're feeling dog tired after all you've been through. Be kind to yourself, rest when you can and treat yourself to a lot bit of what you fancy off the fbs trolley. Smile

DH and I had a lovely day. We were going to London but found out about engineering works on the railway line and a bus service which would have added an extra hour to our journey so decided to go elsewhere. We've walked through the countryside, ambled along a seafront and sat and people-watched as well as having lunch out and afternoon tea out. Our faces are tingling a bit from the sunshine but we have a 'healthy glow'. It's nice to spend some time together but can't help being a bit mad when, arriving home, find the kitchen a shambles because our darling boys don't tidy up or put anything away. Oh well, in the big scheme of things........

topsyturner · 26/02/2012 17:35

Bog off ! Am still getting used to the touchscreen keyboard on my Brand New IPHONE !!!!!!
And in fact I think i prefer crime eggs Grin

ned I had my anti sickness meds for 5 days after chemo . But if in doubt , call your unit .

DH is out walking pig/dog and has called me to ask me to call the police . Whilst walking through the health care park behind our house he came across a nut job confused person smashing windows with a hammer !
He's coming home now , will update you as I find out more ...

Figgyroll · 26/02/2012 17:39

Ooeer, Topsy, probably someone trying to find out if there are any drugs stashed in the building. Hope police come quickly.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/02/2012 18:22

ds went as Slinky Malinky for book day once- cat mask, drawn on whiskers and black smudgy nose,a black tail made of french knitting with a pipecleaner to make a kink at the end - poloneck top and dark trousers. Am so happy I don't have to think of these things any more !

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/02/2012 18:23

yike- hope dh is ok topsy with a dangerous mad person about

smee · 26/02/2012 19:08

Crime eggs. Grin Def full of protein though. Ooh-er about hammer man. Hope DH and PigDog aren't trying to be heroic.

And Ned, yes Banoffee Pie is absolutely one of the five a day. I'd say decrease slowly on the drugs too. You could take half the dose tomorrow or something and see how you feel.

Gigs', of course you're tired woman!! You've been through so much, not to mention a young baby and another DD too. You rest up or we'll be round to tie you to the sofa if you don't watch it.

Kurri, catnip put a ghastly image into my head of old men licking and nibbling. Shock

Figgy sounds like a lovely day out. I love that tingly feeling, though usually go beetroot red rather than healthy glow. Not such a good look. Hmm

Holstein, am still singing Muppet tunes. Quite cheering me up, though DS is giving me stern looks. Grin Glad to hear you're feeling more energised. You're right the weather definitely helps.

Sometimes, yeay for you for finishing complex work project. D'you want to come and do some of mine. Am absurdly behind.. Confused How's your DD? is she totally back to her old self yet?

World Book Day here will be Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third - quite easy, as he's a Viking and we have a helmet and stuff to make it work. DS always chooses a character which needs a sword. Teachers always make him leave it in the classroom. Grin

topsyturner · 26/02/2012 19:37

< faints clean away at thought of old men nibbling >

Update on Crazed Hammer Man .
Police have just called to the house to say they couldn't find him , but they are planning to pop in and out of the health care park for the rest of the shift to see if they can catch him .
Took a statement off DH and asked if he would be prepared to testify if they ever catch him and it goes to court .
Admired pig/dog , who tried to mate with them Blush
And left .

It's all go here Wink

Gigondas · 26/02/2012 19:50

Glad police came and took it seriously - sounds pretty scary Topsy but Grin at pig/dog.

Am helping myself to fbs , sitting on sofa and watching worlds scariest roads. It is compelling if scary viewing .

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/02/2012 21:31

Grin @ pig dog !

topsyturner · 26/02/2012 21:58

Pig/dog can always be relied upon to let the side down Grin

Have a fridge full of Tupperware containers filled with curried stuff . My neighbour and her sister made an Indian feast last night and kindly gave me some .
That's breakfast lunch sorted for tomorrow ...

holstenlips · 26/02/2012 22:02

Pig/dog cracked me up Topsy!
Dd world book day costume is Hermione, easy costume, making a spell book for her to carry.
I've got a flaming cold! Is that because the sun came out?

smee · 26/02/2012 22:37

Curry for breakfast on a Monday sounds the height of decadence. Pig dog is a legend. Grin

KurriKurri · 26/02/2012 22:49

GrinGrin at pig/dog trying to hump the Police officers

OP posts:
jchocchip · 26/02/2012 22:56

:) at pig/dog! At the time when I was a sahm, world book day costumes included one of the three muscateers, harry potter, and the hungry catterpillar (which was a bit warm including a hood with eyeholes!) These days the children are at secondary and I don't get to do anything half so creative...

jchocchip · 27/02/2012 08:37

Morning all. I shall resist the left over curry for second breakfast and pop the kettle on. Any one for a Brew? And maybe some toast ...

Gigondas · 27/02/2012 08:43

Me please - think I will pass on curry for breakfast tho Topsy.
