Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

smee · 27/02/2012 16:42

Ooh Kurri, appointment's been an age coming. Well done on being a persistent badger and for excellent cake resisting skills. Grin poor Mr K on his tooth. Same happened to my DH a couple of weeks ago. He was very brave. Virtually no moaning. Am sure I'd have been v.different. Blush

Ned, definitely call the unit the minute your temp goes up. Last thing you want is an infection. How are you feeling now?? Still okay?

Eight, hope you're okay too. What day do you start to feel okay again?

Sparkle, that is an awesome amount of wine and deserves much sofa time. Hope the DC are letting you stick there. Smile

Too much to post to all, but Holstein hope the tummy calms, and Gig I'll be thinking of you tomorrow at 1. Definitely fight for every detail, then breathe huge sighs of relief. Smile

Better get on. DH picked DS up today so I could work. Which means I probably should..

SparkleRainbow · 27/02/2012 16:47

I know it was a stupid amount of wine, especially for the woman who normally has a small glass and says lovely but that's enough! I still feel rotten two days later, although I have not had a headache at all, just felt queasy and very fragile.

Haven't put any weight on though, as I was very responsible about all the food on offer..... Back to wii fit tomorrow come what may!

Kurri - I am glad you have finally got your appointment through, have you sorted it all in your head, cos March 9th isn't far off. I am glad dh's tooth is sorted, he will feel so much better now.

Gig - do write down your questions, as kurri suggested and go through it writing down their answers, or get someone else too (dh?) in my expereince you won't remember everything they said, or you wanted to say.

Have got 19 organic free range eggs lying on my counter....not of the chocolate of crime variety......will have to make more cakes for the dc tomorrow and see how many I can flog to friends....comes of being a soft touch and rehoming all those ex battery hens!

SparkleRainbow · 27/02/2012 16:48

Chinese jasmine tea anyone...am finding it calming.

SparkleRainbow · 27/02/2012 16:49

xpost smee, dd2 sat beside me on sofa this morning and we both fell asleep...she is so good for 3.

smee · 27/02/2012 17:00

Aw, she sounds so sweet Sparkle. How lovely to curl up together like that. Smile

SparkleRainbow · 27/02/2012 17:05

I know Smile

Gigondas · 27/02/2012 17:31

Sparkle would some hot Ribena and malted chocolate chip cakes help? No food wine hangovers are the pits.

Thanks for good wishes for tomorrow -am writing up my questions and will write answers . Also got to try to explain to her how scared I feel and the impact of how explaining things can make it worse and harder for me to go home and hold it together for kids (this was my therapist /counsellor suggestion).

My queries are on se , timing , what kind of nutrition/exercise or anything else can help manage the se . And will let dh ask his detailed queries when I am not in the room ( I think have mentioned his detail focus is not my approach). Any other ideas on good questions?

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 17:40

Good work on the appointment kurri March 9th definitely not too far away. You must be chuffed! So pleased for you. Pleased mr kurri sorted too.

Thanks smee I feel fine- temp not above 36 all day, so am assuming not too much to worry about. Just a bit snuffly no anti sickness meds since before lunch and feel OK, so doing alright, I think! Have made a tentative plan for a coffee with a friend on Thursday, but realised that it's the vulnerable bit of my cycle. . . Should I not go out, or OK to go out if careful and not with germy people?

sparkle glad you had a nice snuggled snooze with dd. I used to love those with DS. Unfortunately don't get them really any more, if he falls asleep in the day its usually in the car. Good for you rescuing battery chickens. . . Much respect! Smile

eight thinking of you if you're lurking x x x x

NedSchneebly · 27/02/2012 17:41

X post Gig hot Ribena pleeeeeeeeeeeeese! Yum, havent had that in years!

smee · 27/02/2012 17:42

Gig, that all sounds sane and sensible. I think I'd focus on what's next (if anything) in terms of treatment and getting across what your counsellor has suggested. That's quite a lot in itself. As you say, your DH can do the detailed questions. You can do this you know. Smile

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 18:27

Sparkle - is DD2 three already? - wow time flies, I bet she's really snuggly.

My appointment is just to see the breast surgeon, so he can refer me to a plastic surgeon, so it's only a step on the way, but at least it is a step.

I was told initially that referral was just a formality and and surgeon would just write a letter. Now apparently because I haven't seen him since 2008, I have to actually be seen (not as if I haven't seen anyone else meantime Hmm). (they've come to this conclusion after much buggering about [them] and many phonecalls [me])

It means going back to the breast clinic and seeing the consultant who told me I had cancer, - which freaks me out a bit - but if it's the only way I can get to see a PS then that's the way it goes.

Good luck with your coffee plans Ned, - hope you feel up to it, because it will be nice for you to get out and about Smile

Gig - will be thinking of you tomorrow, you sound very organised Smile

Smee - did your DH have his tooth out too? - did it take very long to heal - DH is saying his is quite painful, so am hoping its just bruising, not infection?

Don't work too hard!

jchocchip · 27/02/2012 19:31

Evening all! Had a lovely drive out to the Moors this afternoon, well it would have been lovely if a road hadn't been shut for a culvert repair and I hadn't got very lost looking for my site Nvm dh had made tea and has taken dd2 to guides. I can't hit the gin yet :) at it being 2 of 5 a day, as I may have to drive to collect her.

We always used to have hot ribena when we were poorly

AAARRRRRGHHHHHHH cat just ran in and deposited a toad on the living room carpet in front of me. Fourtunately dd1 was on hand to pick it up and take it for a walk to the park,

jchocchip · 27/02/2012 19:35

Good news you've got your appointment kk, another step on the way.

Hope your coffee plan works out, ned. Would be good to get out.

Cat is sniffing around where toad was deposited. I think he thinks I am unappreciative of his offerings...

Hope they found hammer man Topsy, maybe he was after some meds?

holstenlips · 27/02/2012 19:55

Well done on getting appt KK, not too long to wait either
Gig, good luck for tomorrow, good idea to leave dh to do his questions. You sound organised to me.
Sparkle, hope the hangovers going? Plenty of food to soak it up.
Jchoc, I don't think I could pick up a toad either !
My tummy is still a bit off, think its the antibiotics, yuk yuk.
I see my onc surgeon Thursday, see if anything else needs doing. I'm going on my own this time, I think it will be easier as I can then potter round hosp/town/ pub!
how's onein8?
Waves to all.

smee · 27/02/2012 20:16

Yikes, toad - I'd hate that. Can cope with spiders and all sorts, but toads are slimy.

Kurri, yes DH had to have his tooth out. He'd got a cracked root and abscess. He's quite a stoic, but he didn't take a lot of pain killers, so maybe he was lucky.

I can imagine going back to the diagnosis person is quite a thing Kurri. You never know, after the initial memories flood back it might be quite uplifting too - to think how far you've come and you're still very much alright iyswim. I always find it odd seeing mine because it's the same clinic for newly diagnosed women. Always makes me remember how scared I was. Sad

Holstein, I'd bet it is the antibiotics. They always make my guts do somersaults. When do you finish the course?

holstenlips · 27/02/2012 20:22

Got 2 more days, have missed a few today due to thinking 'bastard antibs giving me the squits'

Figgyroll · 27/02/2012 20:27

Evening everyone (for the second time, just lost a long post - grrr).

Good luck wishes to Gig for tomorrow. Go armed with your list and don't forget a pen to write down some of the answers so you can go through them when you get home.

Holstenlips, most probably are the antibees causing your tummy problems. I had the same thing when I was on double doses which was quickly followed by thrush - so be warned!!

KK, yay for hospital appointment. At lease you're in the system now. Thank goodness DH has had his tooth seen too. What a relief!!

Sparkle, sounds like a good night all round. Did you secretly secrete the empties to the bottle bank so neighbours didn't get to see them? Grin DD2 sounds a real sweetiepie.

Jchoc, drive on moors sounds lovely but toad on floor doesn't. Eeek!!!

Ned, just keep on taking your temp. I used to do it every 3 hours or so. I was hospitalised with neutropenia three times and the only symptom was a raised temperature. I was surprised because I'd expected to feel unwell too but didn't at all.

Had a lovely day today. I went for my Look Good...Feel Better consultation at the hospital. What a fab 2 hours we had, great company, great demonstrations re skin care and make-up plus a really fantastic goody bag of products - all expensive makes that I probably wouldn't buy - together with a bottle of Estee Lauder 'Sensuous' which I sampled at Christmas in Debenhams and really liked. For those of you who haven't booked in for a session, I can highly recommend it. The ladies today were at all stages of the cancer journey. Locally there is a 3 month waiting list so might be the same where you are.

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 20:30

I don't think my DH is very stoical Smee Grin - but toothache is pretty horrid, and I'm not either if I have it.

I hope I feel all right at the clinic, because I don't want to stuff up my appointment having waited so long - will take my own advice and write everything down.

Unfortunately the last time I saw this surgeon, I ran out of the room in tears. He insisted in putting up survival statistics on his computer screen, even though I'd said I didn't want to see them, and then he said 'oh well if you aren't interested in what's happening to you .........' and started telling DH percentages, at which point I ran for it, and BCN took me for a cup of tea to calm me down.

God I feel angry and scared again just thinking about that Sad

I'll be stronger this time.

I second anti biotics as the diarrhoea culprit Holsten, - I find eating a lot of probiotic yogurt helps my guts when I'm on them.

We have loads of toads in our garden, - always lots of spawn in our pond - lucky I like them. A friend's cat caught a toad and cat was rather unwell afterwards - they have poison in their skin I believe. (Just thought I'd mention in case your cat gets sore or foamy round the mouth or anything like that jane)

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 20:35

OOh Figgy - so glad you've had your 'look good feel better' session, - they are great aren't they? I really enjoyed mine, and I'm not even a very make uppy sort of person. The goody bags are brilliant.

I must go somewhere to sample that Estee Lauder 'Sensuous' - I don't know it, but it sounds good - I've used EL 'Pleasures' for years which I love.

I so pleased you had a good time, - you really deserve to have a treat day Smile

amberlight · 27/02/2012 20:42

Hello everyone Smile
Reading through.
Here, huge relief with results of smear test coming back ok (after operation a year ago...before all this breast cancer business).

KK, he said what??! Shock That is just awful. No wonder you rushed out of the room. So would I. Sod being stronger - he needs a kick up the statistics.

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 20:45

Hooray for clear smear amber Smile, I didn't know you'd been through that worry previously, poor you.

Grin at kick up the statistics!

OP posts:
Gigondas · 27/02/2012 20:48

Kurri -
That sounds horrendous. I really hope tomorrow goes better (that is just the sort of thing I dread. Also made worse as dh
Likes stats so started to try and tell me
What odds were etc after he had googled based on the biopsy report. A whole world of wrong in that Wink.

Am just holding Onto fact that will know what is going on this time tomorrow and if means a lot that I can skulk into here and vent.

amberlight · 27/02/2012 20:54

Shall be standing by with Brew

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 20:55

Oh Gig - I'm an insensitive idiot Sad the last thing I meant to do was make you anxious, - I was just rambling - I'm sure your appointment won't go like that at all. Part of the problem with my surgeon is that English isn't his first language and I think sometimes he sounds unempathetic without necessarily having that intent.

I told my DH pretty firmly that he could look at whatever he wanted, but he was not to tell me if and until I specifically asked.

KurriKurri · 27/02/2012 20:56
