Yet to see a single Conservative sign

Anyone else live in traditional rural Conservative stronghold who have yet to see any Conservative signs out.

I live in a rural area where the vote is often split between Tory or Lib Dem. Current sitting MP is a Conservative. The local farmers usually put out huge Conservative signs in their fields around election time. I've yet to see any. Seen lots of the usual Lib Dem signs, and quite a few Greens. But no Conservative at all is really unusual.

I also saw a poll from the Farmers Weekly if 13,000 which suggests the Conservatives will only get 5% of their vote, lib dems 21%, reform 13% and Labour an enormous 61%. I'm very shocked by this and I would say this is pretty damning for the Conservatives, who often can rely on the vote from the Farming community!

Oh and in the interests of balance I saw a Reform sticker on a dog poo bin, which I thought was entirely appropriate.

I live in a market town that’s been Tory since year dot. There’s lots of Lib Dem signs and some for an independent, but I’ve yet to see a Tory or Labour one. The lack of Labour seems normal but really surprised no Tory ones.

Sorenips11 · 16/06/2024 17:13

Loads of Vote Johnny Mercer signs in Plymouth. Someone had drawn a cock on one of them which was satisfying to see.

Hardlyworking · 16/06/2024 17:14

Same. My estate of mostly well off oldies was previously full of tory and brexit signs. Not a whisper so far. Can't take the shame of their previously terrible choices I expect!

Justkeepswiimming · 16/06/2024 17:14

@FancyBiscuitsLevel yes the lack of Labour is no surprise to anyone. This area has never had a Labour MP, but the lack of Conservative is stark I would say.

Tory stronghold here (somewhere they definitely expect to hang on to). There are no posters for any party & we've had no leaflets either.
I would love it if they were wrong & our awful incumbent got the boot.
DD lives somewhere that is likely to switch from Tory to Lib Dems & there are Lib Dems posters up everywhere & lots of flyers through the door.

crackofdoom · 16/06/2024 17:16

None down here- rural SW constituency, currently Tory and predicted to be a Labour gain 🤞.

I'm not surprised, tbh. The Conservatives- and Brexit- have hardly followed through on their promises to farmers, have they?! From what I hear the new eco payments system is just an appallingly written piece of legislation full of holes. Pretty much the only thing the Tories seem to have done for farmers is hollow out the Environment Agency so that no one gets prosecuted for polluting watercourses any more, which is a pretty negative benefit.

Don't even get the fishermen started...

Bungalowhouseflat · 16/06/2024 17:16

I was thinking the same the other day. Also live rural and currently have a Conservative mp (Labour came second but a big margin).
I've also only had Labour knocking at the door (also unusual). When I was on the bus on Friday it seemed Labour /lib in rural villages and as we went into town it was Labour with a few reform, not one Conservative.

Nannyfannybanny · 16/06/2024 17:16

Tory area SE, the only signs I have seen in people's gardens are lib dem.

Iggleoggledaffy · 16/06/2024 17:17

None here. Tory heartland with a (relatively!) sane, well-liked and very visible local MP. Highly unusual.

And I think I'm right in saying that the latest polls predict that Plymouth will not, in fact, Vote Johnny Mercer 😆

EasterlyDirection · 16/06/2024 17:18

There's a few here (rural Tory stronghold) but more LibDem. No Labour, they don't bother campaigning here

Justkeepswiimming · 16/06/2024 17:18

@Cookerhood yeah that's a good point. I've not had a single tory leaflet, but something from the Greens and two from the Lib Dems. I have seen a personalised video on Facebook from Grant Shapps of all people, aimed at our constituency. We have quite a big defence community, but clearly they are worried about holding on in this area.

I've had quite a bit of information from the Lib Dems and Labour. Nothing from Conservatives.

crackofdoom · 16/06/2024 17:21

We keep on getting campaign leaflets for the Lib Dem candidate from the next door constituency. Someone should really show her a map.

Midgegreenstreet · 16/06/2024 17:22

Quite a few in my area (Lib Dem but closest threat is usually Tory).

Justkeepswiimming · 16/06/2024 17:23

@crackofdoom thats interesting. I've lived in the SW all my life and the only places which return Labour MPs are Exeter (sad to see Ben Bradshaw is bowing out after all these years), Plymouth and Bristol so I'd live to know where you are!

The leaflet from my Local Tory candidate is green colour. You have to read the small print to work out hes Tory. Most bizarre and misleading .

Intothevalley · 16/06/2024 17:26

We're in Dominic Raab's constituency (though he's stepping down, of course).

Lots of Tory leaflets.
A fair number of Lib Dem.
No Labour.

Lots of Lib Dem signs. None for any other party.

Maybe the Tories just didn't make any signs this year...

ShaunaSadeki · 16/06/2024 17:32

I’m in a Tory town in the SW, only seen Labour, even in the posh bits!

Justkeepswiimming · 16/06/2024 17:33

@ShaunaSadeki that is really interesting. Again I'd live to know where you are. Also in SW and Labour never get a look in.

Lots of Conservative signs along main roads.

Only one campaign leaflet so far for an independent candidate.

Cornwall. I was sitting at the Sea Shanty Festival last night with my mate, and we were looking at an electoral predictions site, cackling away with immense satisfaction. Out of the 6 Cornish constituencies, all currently blue, 3 are predicted to go red and 1 yellow 😊.

Noduckpicsplease · 16/06/2024 17:42

I was saying the exact same thing yesterday!!
Actually wondering if you live in the same constituency. Hoping we may go lib dem at last. Anything better than the current mp who only appears for cameras!
