Yet to see a single Conservative sign

Anyone else live in traditional rural Conservative stronghold who have yet to see any Conservative signs out.

I live in a rural area where the vote is often split between Tory or Lib Dem. Current sitting MP is a Conservative. The local farmers usually put out huge Conservative signs in their fields around election time. I've yet to see any. Seen lots of the usual Lib Dem signs, and quite a few Greens. But no Conservative at all is really unusual.

I also saw a poll from the Farmers Weekly if 13,000 which suggests the Conservatives will only get 5% of their vote, lib dems 21%, reform 13% and Labour an enormous 61%. I'm very shocked by this and I would say this is pretty damning for the Conservatives, who often can rely on the vote from the Farming community!

I’ve seen loads of big fuck off houses with Vote Labour outside.

I do live in a weird constituency though. Parts of it are very wealthy with a high number of graduates. It’s the only marginal in the U.K. between Labour and Lib Dem.

It’s been Labour for a while now though. We evicted Nick Clegg as our mp about 9 years ago💪

And Nick Clegg got knighted and buggered off to work in the US for Facebook.

But we didn’t want him anymore!

He came into a school l used to teach at about 12 or so years ago in the constituency.

The 6th formers killed him on student fees!

At the end of the day, signs don't matter. Votes matter. I've no doubt that Labour will win heavily this time. But the Tories will win again in the future. And when they do there still won't be that many Tory signs about.

daffodilandtulip · 19/06/2024 21:53

I've seen no anything! No signs, no leaflets, no canvassing, no door knockers. For any party.

I’ve not seen any vote Conservative signs anywhere , even here in the south east , in strong Tory safe seats.

I’ve not seen a single Tory canvasser either. I think they’ve all but given up.

I did get 2 leaflets, a letter this week and a cold call from a marketing company on behalf of the Tories. No actual in person visit though

Feministwoman · 21/06/2024 00:32

True blue Tory area, with a huge majority here.
Loads of Green posters up, a very few Labour and Reform no Lib Dem posters , and zero Tory posters which is really really unusual.

So Rob Butler is my MP, in what has always been a Tory seat

I was talking to someone yesterday who was at the Hustings last week & apparently he got a right roasting - to the point they aren't expecting him to attend any of the others!

His leaflet - which I have only seen a photo of doesn't even mention that he's in the Conservative Party!

I'm heading off to my constituency hustings on Sunday. My Tory MP has already caused controversy by posting on the town Facebook page, and blocking anyone who asks difficult questions. That's actually how I found out about the hustings, because a separate post questing him doing this advertised the hustings, and encouraged people to turn up. I'll be interested to see how it goes down!

It's pretty much all I see, Tory posters.

We live in a Tory area and never seen any posters up re any party - about 50 properties in our close.

Kendodd · 21/06/2024 09:39

I've seen quite a few.
I also live in a Tory stronghold and predicted a tory win here.

BIossomtoes · 21/06/2024 09:59

This is John Major’s old constituency. They used to weigh the Tory votes here. We’re predicted to turn red and there are virtually no posters of any colour on display.

Kendodd · 21/06/2024 10:33

Apparently a 'Make American Great Again' sign has been spotted in Cornwall Grin

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 21/06/2024 10:58

No posters here for any party. 2 horse race labour or tory, Labour predicted to win but we'll see. Personally I'm watching to see if green/workers even keep their deposits. Without reform taking some votes i suspect it would be too close to call. 3 leaflets from our tory, 1 from the Labour. No one else bothered

Againname · 21/06/2024 12:05

As an update from my post a few days ago

We finally got one leaflet through the door. From the Tory candidate.

Still no signs round here for any party, no door knocking, and no leaflets from any of the other parties.

ETA. It's a usually safe Tory seat predicted to go Labour (local polls indicate Reform will be the votes that get Labour in here, although neither Labour nor Reform have sent any leaflets out it seems).

AliceMcK · 21/06/2024 21:51

I spent the day running errands all over today I only saw one sign, an A4 size vote independent. Nothing else and I covered a vast area.

My DH thinks the Tories know they are out and aren’t bothered about canvassing. But no Labour, Green, Lib Dem..

Gladanotthwrteamonesomething · 24/06/2024 11:21

We had none, now the farmers fields ate starting to display huge Conservative signs. They don't want to lose their huge grants of free money. Grants aren't means tested so very rich farmers claim for thousands as well as struggling ones.

Startingagainandagain · 24/06/2024 13:06

On another note, I got a letter in the post this morning from an ex-conservative counsellor encouraging local people to vote Labour and listing all the problems brought by 14 year of Tory Government!

Quite an extraordinary campaign...

SummerBarbecues · 24/06/2024 13:08

I live in a Tory area and I have seen a few blue signs. A lot more Lib Dems, and even a few Labour ones too. Haven't seen any Reform ones yet.

Goldenthigh · 25/06/2024 08:19

Presumably this is at least partially down to the lack of funds. They've raised only a tenth of the amount in donations so far that they did in the last election.

Yet to see a single Conservative sign
Startingagainandagain · 25/06/2024 08:25

Someone pulled out the Labour sign in my front garden last night!

Some really bitter people out there.

Oh well, I will just put a new one...

Simplelobsterhat · 25/06/2024 08:46

I live in what is traditionally a Tory/ labour marginal (albeit been labour since 2017 so highly unlikely change this time) and I've seen no Tory campaigning at all. Nothing on the candidates social media (and he is a local councillor and was very active in campaigning in senedd elections, so out of character), no signs, leaflets, nothing. This is exactly the sort of place they used to campaign hard, and the labour candidate still is. It's like they have given up or don't want to win....

paasll · 25/06/2024 09:05

I haven’t seen a single conservative poster. I’ve seen Lib Dem and labour.

it seems socially acceptable to say things like “Tory scum” - I believe Angela Rayner has even used this phrase. But it would be completely socially unacceptable to say “labour scum”.

we have got to a point where saying you will vote Tory will get you a lot of hate and make you a target. So it has to be done in secret. And the irony is, that by demonising the mainstream right of centre party, people think it’s acceptable to vote hard right instead, for Reform.

even on this website, I’ve been called Tory HQ on other threads when the reality is that I did not vote for Bojo in 2019 - I didn’t vote at all because I thought Bojo/Corbyn was an appalling choice. You don’t see people being called labour HQ on threads, but posts calling people Tory Hq are allowed to stand.

mogtheexcellent · 25/06/2024 11:38

considering the amount of hate caused by 3 labour supporters on my local facebook page most tory voters are staying under the radar.

I also didnt vote in 2019. we were a safe tory seat so I didnt worry about defacing my card. The seat boundary has been changed so ineresting to see what is going on. So far labour has sent our house 12 letters and newsletters, reform 1, independant 1 lib dem1 and tory 1. Labour are really bombing the public with adverts on socail media as well. The Tory candidate is our local councillor and he is actually very nice and helpful at getting things sorted. Interestingly the tory candidate won the recent Police comissioner election so there is clearly a certain amount of tory voters in the area.

MenopauseSucks · 25/06/2024 12:18

A Conservative area with a reasonable majority but you only see Lib Dems signs on show.
Mind you, I don't recall ever seeing any Conservative signs - they've won for so long with at least a 15% majority so maybe they've become complacent.
