Yet to see a single Conservative sign

Anyone else live in traditional rural Conservative stronghold who have yet to see any Conservative signs out.

I live in a rural area where the vote is often split between Tory or Lib Dem. Current sitting MP is a Conservative. The local farmers usually put out huge Conservative signs in their fields around election time. I've yet to see any. Seen lots of the usual Lib Dem signs, and quite a few Greens. But no Conservative at all is really unusual.

I also saw a poll from the Farmers Weekly if 13,000 which suggests the Conservatives will only get 5% of their vote, lib dems 21%, reform 13% and Labour an enormous 61%. I'm very shocked by this and I would say this is pretty damning for the Conservatives, who often can rely on the vote from the Farming community!

They're probably worried about left-wing radicals vandalising their homes or physically assaulting them.

Give over. What a load of rubbish. And if they are worried at incurring wrath, a wonder why that might be 🤔

We are farmers,we had an email from Rishi back in February when all the farmer protests were kicking off.I think he was worried .We are in a Conservative stronghold, never get doorknockers from any of the parties, and the only leaflets we've had are from Reform and the Conservative MP. I've seen no banners or signs from any of the parties so far.

I live in the povo corner of a nice small town. In the time I've lived here the only people who have canvassed us are the Lib Dems and Jehovas Witnesses 🤣

House in our village has one.

DH put one in a skip a couple houses down, a new one appeared and the local teens changed it to Vote Nonces. 🙌

Your husband's behaviour is pathetic. 🙄

My personal mission is to deface all Reform stickers I see. It makes me feel better.

I live in a traditional Tory stronghold. I've seen a couple of big signs in fields. Liz Truss is our neighbouring constituency's MP and her signs have all been vandalised, as has our twit of a Tory's big sign in a local field. I've seen several Labour boards in gardens when for 15yrs, I've never seen a single one for previous elections. It's a really strange sight for us.

I do wonder if it will translate to votes on the day. Usually Labour come third with a paltry handful of votes after Cons, then whatever UKIP/Reform nonsense is available. I fear that the racist, stalwart Tories here will just vote Reform instead.

ThisOldThang · 16/06/2024 20:19

If people are defacing public property with political stickers, then knock yourself out.

Zonder · 16/06/2024 20:24

No Tory leaflets here, no Tory posters or boards. I saw one in a village not far away recently. It's always been a Tory stronghold with LD claiming second place.

Now seeing lots of labour boards and posters and a few LD.

SwordToFlamethrower · 16/06/2024 20:24

We saw a tory sign when visiting London, but someone had sprayed black paint all over it.

I live in a tory stronghold and we are predicted to win Labour by a landslide, booting two long standing tory MPs.

In 2019, I was being booed and verbally abused when canvassing for Labour. How the tables have turned.

Wish is was Jeremy at the helm.

miserablecat · 16/06/2024 20:31

I live somewhere that has been Conservative forever but in the last election lib dems were definitely gaining ground. I've seen loads of lib dem placards (is that the right word?) In our town and the next one. Saw my first Conservative one (by a farm) today.not seen any Labour.

Cuwins · 16/06/2024 20:36

Serious conservative strong hold here (since 1850 or something like that!)- which currently they are predicted to struggle to hold. I haven't seen any conservative posters at all, quite a few from both labour and Lib Dem plus the odd green.

darksigns · 16/06/2024 20:40

I’ve not seen a single one for anyone so far. But we’re in the arse end of nowhere.

WhitegreeNcandle · 16/06/2024 20:41

Farmer here and agree it’s noticeable the lack of the agric community support this time.

StripedPiggy · 16/06/2024 20:43

Plenty of Conservative signs & posters on show around here in the True Blue Leicestershire countryside. It’s one of the safest Tory seats in the Midlands.

@Cookerhood yeah that's a good point. I've not had a single tory leaflet, but something from the Greens and two from the Lib Dems. I have seen a personalised video on Facebook from Grant Shapps of all people, aimed at our constituency. We have quite a big defence community, but clearly they are worried about holding on in this area.

Grant Shapps is our local MP and I've seen nothing at all from him. Not a leaflet, a post in the local fb group, nothing at all.

Quite a few Greens signs up here in the fancy houses. I have seen one Conservative sign but a lot less than usual.

Roseyjane · 16/06/2024 20:46

Loads here, affluent south east village.

This was years before the Brexit vote, so nothing to do with Boris or lockdown parties.

So why are you bringing up something that (allegedly) happened over a decade ago?

mitogoshi · 16/06/2024 21:05

My seat has been Tory since 1950. Not seen any Con signs but lots of labour. It's predicted to swing to labour, first time ever

Goldenthigh · 16/06/2024 21:05

I'm in a SW rural (ish) constituency too which is usually Tory. I've seen 1 conservative sign and lots of Lib Dem ones but then we had majority Lib Dem signs up in 2019 too and tories won the seat comfortably then. It's predicted to be held by tories this time again but I really hope not.

swimsong · 16/06/2024 21:09

ThisOldThang · 16/06/2024 19:26

It's relevant to my earlier comment that you probably don't see many Conservative posters/placards because people are probably afraid of encountering people like you.

So you're saying that you think people are much angrier with the Tories than they used to be when lots of signs & cards where displayed everywhere. Why do you think that is? What has changed?

JoJothegerbil · 16/06/2024 21:28

On my drive round rural Cornwall today I saw half a dozen or so LD, one Tory and one Reform. It's a knife edge between the incumbent useless Tory and the LDs here.

JSMill · 16/06/2024 21:29

I live in a very solid Tory area which has had some boundary changes. Both the mps affected were big names who have stepped down. I have seen a lot of Lib Dem posters but not a single Tory poster. We have also had a lot of leaflets through the last couple of years from the Lib Dems. I believe they know this is one of the constituencies they can possibly take so are throwing a lot of money at it. Meanwhile I think the Tory party are taking us for granted as a 'true blue' area so aren't spending much.

worcesterpear · 16/06/2024 21:33

I've only seen two elections signs up so far - one Conservative and one Reform and I live in an area where the current MP is Conservative but that is unusual - it is usually Labour and a relatively deprived area.

ThisOldThang · 16/06/2024 21:34

swimsong · 16/06/2024 21:09

No. I'm saying that the Labour Party attracts all the crazies and weirdos that think it's normal to vandalise property, verbally abuse and physically assault people because of their political beliefs. I, personally, have witnessed these crazy people in action. People on this thread have been boasting about vandalism and excusing verbal abuse / threatening behaviour, so it's not like these people are a vanishing minority.

I'm saying that's probably one of the reasons you're not seeing many people publicly advertise their support for the Conservatives.

OonaStubbs · 16/06/2024 21:38

I can't remember ever seeing many Conservative signs even when they've been winning elections.

Ineffable23 · 16/06/2024 21:38

I am in a true blue constituency in the East. Drove about 30 miles today along roads that would normally be lined with massive conservative placards and there was nothing. Various posters for the greens though.
